Transfer Rumours: Liverpool linked with Cavenaghi - Who is he? Video Included

Today's transfer rumours have been linking Liverpool with Argentine striker Fernando Cavenaghi, so for those of you who have never heard of him here's some information and videos of the Bordeaux frontman in Action.

Cavenaghi currently plays his football at Bordeaux for whom he has scored 28 goals in 48 games since singing from Spartak Moscow in January 2007. He has 4 caps for Argentina but has yet to find the back of the net. While playing for under 20 Argentina side he bagged 4 goals in 7 games, and faces tough competition to get in the line up of the full international side from the likes of Tevez, Messi, Milito and Aguero.

He made the breakthrough at River Plate, where he scored 55 goals in 89 games before moving to Spartak Moscow for £6.5million. He failed to adjust to the different lifestyle and game in Russia, and was subsequently sold to Bordeaux for $11million after scoring just 13 times in 53 appearances.

This video shows all his goals up until May 2008 in France - there's some decent goals on show so he could turn out to be a good buy although he'd have to fight Torres for the number 9 shirt!

In Rafa We Trust...

This bloke will be a good good buy, he's even got a decent enough physique for the premier league. If he ends up in Liverpool FC. We'll be unstopable......

reminds me very much of gabriel batistuta, if he's half as good as that i'll be very happy.

Cavenaghi

OMG cant believe this. bought this lad on fm 2004 and became a legend at anfield hahaha. hope that in realty the same happens

Anonymous's picture

maybe...

the bloke looks quality... however where does he fit in at anfield? we have so many good forwards now, personally i think the only thing we miss in that sense is a target man, i just can't see this bloke sitting on the bench waiting for torres to get injured

Maybe Next FERNANDO or Next Flop...........

This player reminds me Van Nistelrooy, Good physiqye, Clitrical stricker: Hard misses goals when in the box, great first touch, exelent lobs, Woh this guy got quality, Well spotted Rafa.. He seems to be able to fit in our sysytem.
He maybe the next Fernando in our squad...............I hope so..

But i'll like rafa to try a bid for Aguero (the next Super Star for me), he might cost though....

Never mind, I trust Rafa and i know that he'll always take the right decision for our dear Club..........
You'll NEVER WALK ALONE RAFA... WE R BEHIND U

top class

i got this man on fm08 and he became a star though it might not happen in reality. But he really has lethal finishing and does not waste opppotunities. His pace is also great and he shot is quite difficult to save.

anfieldadorer's picture

do you notice that almost of

do you notice that almost of his goals created through low balls. or if he has to rise them up, he uses chips or lobs instead of cannon shoot etc. that might be a sign that he is a calm, mature and tricky.

NO MORE STRIKERS PLEASE!!!!!

We've already got Babel, Keane, kuyt, ,Ngog, Nemeth.. we don't need anymore strikers... Don't think like 6th year old kids, that if you field 10 strikers on the field with a keeper that you'll definitely win the match... we need somebody to provide good crosses to the strikers we already have, look at keane he was an excellent goalscorer at totenham coz he was getting the balls, in lfc from whom does he gets the ball?? Just torres!! Keane won't score much if he don't get enough quality ball cross, Riera seems to be looking good, but the right side still need to be fine touched.
This guy in the clip just look like what keane looks like on youtube, make your comparisons and you'll see it.

strikers

i think you need 3 top strikers. we have 2. babbel is a maybey kuyt is not , so we have keane and torres, nemeth i like, but he is not ready for 3/4 games on the spin, on the bench yes, we need a right winger that i agree on, but if torres got injured who can replace him? if its only for a few games keane yes, but any longer , i have my doubts. for me OWEN for 2/4 mil in jan or free in june. is the man rafa should buy. you tube is not what anyone should go by, i watch players its my opinion but thats the best way..

agree criticalmind

We dont need anymore strikers even youtube made kuyt look good and look at him now he's useless and doesnt deserve to be in the team 3 goals in 27 PL games says it all he's no good for the PL the sooner rafa see's that the better we need a right sided player to whip balls in from both flanks what about that polish dude blascyckowski or something like that he would be a good addition to our side criticalmind ur right we dont need strikers we are good in that department a right sided winger is what we need i dont mind who it is as long as they replace KUYT!

Wolfie's picture

It's France folks

He's an instinctive striker, something of a natural but I think his passion, hunger and alertness (which I like and reminds me of Kuyt in that respect) gets him many more chances in France than it would the Premiership. Most of his goals in that video would have been stopped or saved in the Premiership by faster, stronger and more committed defenders and much better keepers.

He is better than Keane, I

He is better than Keane, I have been watching him play for about 6 years now and I have always wanted him to come to Liverpool. He is a natural goalscorer and is in the Batistuta mold but a little more pacey. I doubt this rumour is true but if it is then with the addition of a right winger we would have as many attacking options as we are ever likely to need.

thankyou very much my step son will have it done soon look out 4 it

Criticalmind's picture

Nemeth!!!

Looking at the past few matches of our reserves team it makes me feel that the reserves team without there top scorer of last season is just like our first team without Torres. The reserves team have managed just one win in the Barclays premier league reserves so far, they are a pity to watch right now, no more the team that was showing sign of progress last season, all the yougsters seems to have gone a step down, just hope they get back on trail and show a good performace tonight. And that Nemeth comes back to form from his back injury sooner and better.

Cavi in Russia

He actually did not play bad in Russia. Cavi scored some really nice goals, well maybe he was not consistent.
Look at his bicycle shot - Fernando Cavenaghi awesome goal.
I think he is much better than Robby.

Liverpool might get this lad

Liverpool might get this lad if Rafa control the signing...

Anonymous's picture

this guy was solid in FM few

this guy was solid in FM few seasons ago lol
cant be that bad. But the reality is Liverpool need players who can create (left and right wingers) more than strikers. having said that, a good backup striker is needed as none can fill in for Torres at the moment
