No, I just think that the ref in this case was just a GOBSHITE. He had to have some doubt in his mind about it and if so no penalty or consult the linesman.
In my opinion the linesman should be able to make the call and have more input into the game. If he has a problem with referees decision he should call him on it and tell him he's wrong.
Punishment should be handed out to ref's for making fuck ups like this one. Demote the ref in question then the rest might get a bit sharper and a bit more common sence. Video replays will ruin the game, it will slow it down. Especially when a bunch of moaning fucks like Chelsea get involved. They'll contest every decision slowing the game right down.
yeah it'l slow d game, u can punish d ref, yadda yadda but can u change d score? can u giv dem back d points once d game is over n done wit? tell me we can, n i'l happily shut my face n take d 2 points we lost off Chelski!
Never mind about slowing the game down I think it would suck the life and soul out of football. What would we have to talk about, i love those..'aw did you see that dodgy penalty?' conversations, and those 'were they in were they out' goals. No matter how frustrating it can be i still say videos are a bad idea. They should go bak after and take points away for the goals were never goals etc. but i don't think thats ever going to happen because that means undermining the referee
Just talkin to a friend of mine today about videos in football. We both agreed that it will slow the game down. Now we're from Ireland and in our Gaelic games, one of which is the fasted team sport in the world, we have Umpiers behind the goals to help the referees with contentiuos decisions.
It's such an easy solution, all you need is one man (or woman) behind each goal. This official can call on wether the ball has crossed the line and give the ref a hand with any penalty box decisions.
Two heads are better than one as they say. Or five heads in this case.
i am familiar with the galic game and think thats a good idea, would mean having 5 officals in total on the field of play but if all linked up with technology it work no probs, would start the debate on how can he see through a netted goal though ha moaninino wouldnt be long in trying that one,
ITS A SHAME ABOUT THE INTERNATIONAL BREAK, WE ARE FLYING AT THE MOMENT AND THE LAST THING WE NEED IS THIS BREAK. IT ALSO FAVOURS THE MANCS AND CHELSKI GIVING THERE INJURED PLAYERS TIME TO RECOVER. I HOPE STEVIE G DOESNT DO HIMSELF ANY DAMAGE.BAD TIMING THIS BREAK OR WHAT.
THE CLOWN MCLAREN HAS SELECTED A NUMBER OF NON PERFORMERS YET AGAIN FOR THE ENGLAND SQUAD, I PERSONALLY THINK PENNANT SHOULD BE SELECTED , HE HAS BEEN FAR MORE CONSISTANT THAN YOUNG OF VILLA ? AND WRIGHT PHILLIPS, THAT SAID I SUPPOSE IT IS BETTER FOR LIVERPOOL THAT HE ISNT SELECTED.
IS THERE A BETTER HOLDING MIDFIELDER THAN MASCERANO, THIS GUY IS WORLD CLASS, HE READS THE GAME SUPERBLY AND HARDLY PLAYS A BAD PASS, IS HE THE WORLDS BEST HOLDING MIDFIELDER ?
i think pennant, deserves his chance he is better than phillps, and young.but mclaren is a crap manager look at his middlesboro team crap. the sooner he gets the sack the better.
After watching pennant's great display on both wings, and seeing him not included in the England team,I can conclude that it's the time the English F.A. start thinking and picking a new manager. If Pennant is not good enough on current form, then who is in Mclaren's latest squad selection?.I would miss the ENGLAND team during EURO 2008 way too much....
Pennant must play for England,at least to get some international match experience.England,s chances will also improve with him in the team. But then again, he might get injured during international duty...so the hell with Mclaren.

Its LFC who pays the salary, so why are u guys getting worried whether he is chosen or not... anyway England is playing against crap teams, it can manage with crappy players like young and heskey or smith..why are u guys getting worried Pennant did not got a place in the squad? Now he has to perform better in liverpool to impress Maclaren, and we are the one who will benefit from this fact, a better winger with better performance for the team...and what if he gets injured on international duty now that he is in ascending form...its good that he was left out of England squad.
Your right Criticalmind, at the moment we will benifit from an absent pennant but for how long?? a player who is on the fringes like jermaine will keep trying harder giving us as you say the better performances but this only last for a while, as the player can loose focus if constantly overlooked, wondering what he has to do. Also having more international especially english international players at a club raises the profile of our club, eg stevie G is loved and talked about all over uk and even southern ers want him in England team before fat frank, look at the interest in spain for liverpool, we have a lot of spainish international players who raised our profile and now we every spainard second team, and look at real madrid when owen and becks playing, lots of interest in england was generated because they high profile international player and real shirt sales went through the roof in uk,
So i do agree with you, at the minute its not a problem but its far better in the long run if mcClaren stops overlooking him, just think when we could have the future england winger at our club, who will only get better playing in world cups etc, and remember when we boasted about having owen heskey, carra, james, fowler, murphy and stevie g in the same team, great. Liverpool lads scored all the goals against germany 5-1 and it was mentioned a few times, think barmby was ours at the time also, so the more the merrier for the future i say.
Well some say he was a fake cos now he's in a huge team, Madrid after moanin bout wantin to join us.. But we all know he had no choice.. stay on for the FA's hearing or wateva, d transfer window wud be closed, n wat happens? for goin against Fergie, he'll end up in d reserves.. man's too class for tat..
But i've neva seen anyone wit such passion and desire to join us n took matters into his own hands n into court.. and now tat he's in madrid, he's still lashing out at fergie.. to d point of wantin to face Man Utd in d champs league n kick their sorry asses out! Vamos Heinze, wud hav been a pleasure havin u on board n seein Ferg's face gettin redder den ever!

Well, if we are facing defence crisis, may be we can try putting momo in the central defendinding position like Chelsea did with Essien when Terry was injured....but i still believe we need to try youngsters from the reserve squad, else we will never know if a new Carra is waiting overthere ;)
And.... julez....i totally agree with u Heinze really showed he wanted so much to join us..up to the point of plotting move to Palace to end up in liverpool, may be next year, we'll welcome him in the team, who knows ;)
I agree with you about trying out our youngsters but i think Momo in the back would be revisiting the Traore era ... he is a bit clumsy with his tackles sometimes and it won't be good to have that unsurety in the box ..
IN FAIRNESS TO OUR FRONTMEN GORDON IN THE SUNDERLAND GOAL MADE SOME SUPERB SAVES, WE COULD HAVE HAD 5, I THOUGHT TORRES AND VOLONIN PLAYED PRETTY WELL TOGETHER.

Thats what i've been saying since watching the preseason games, it gives an idea of what we gonna get throughout the season, and Voronin showed he could link very well with Crouch or Torres, BUT not with kuyt, coz kuyt don't know to place himself.
Torres is full of energy, and great skills, with a 9 million keeper, u can't expect to get 5 goals so easily, But voronin put the ball out of his reach, and showed his ability to score, like the superb one against toulouse.
And i was so pleased to see a real goal from counter attack...its been so much time since i've been waiting to see liverpool score from counterattak, i think since mcmanaman and fowler were playing together...
Hope we get more goals inthe forthcoming matches.

I'll need to admit that Benayoun has indeeed got great potential, he got lot of critisism from my part after the preseason, but may be he was not yet ready...but his display against toulouse was superb, loads of superb crosses and assists, Kuyt could have had got more goals had he took those golden oportunities provided by benayoun to him...may be we need to give Fowlers boot to kuyt and tell him to pray it everyday, then he'll get more lucky, i'm glad he got two goal, but he misses so many occasion, he need to work on that.
Great display by liverpool, we really got a good squad now, also some praise to Arbeloa, getting better and better day by day on either side he plays.
BENNYOUN WAS BRILLIANT TONIGHT AGAINST TOULOUSE, HE'S CROSSING WAS PINPOINT, PENNANT COULD LEARN A THING OR TWO IN THAT DEPARTMENT, ( THATS NOT CRITISISING HIM TOO MUCH BECAUSE HE IS PLAYING WELL AS WELL ), ITS GREAT TO SEE SO MUCH COMPETITION FOR PLACES, CROUCH COULD HAVE HAD 3, KUYT COULD HAVE HAD 3, A SUPERB PERFORMANCE AGAINST A NOT VERY GOOD SIDE. SHOWING HOW GOOD OUR STRENGH IN DEPTH ACUALLY IS. ABELOLLOA LOOKS GOOD IN EVERY POSITION HE PLAYS , HE IS A COOL CUSTOMER, WELL PLAYED.
WELL DONE DIRK KUYT TWO GOALS AND ANOTHER 100?% PERFORMANCE, HE IS CRITISIZED FOR NOT SCORING, TONIGHT HE SCORED TWO AND COULD HAVE HAD FIVE, THE ONE THING KUYT GIVES THE TEAM IS 100% , HPOEFULLY THOSE CRITICS WILL SAY WELL DONE.

Man..how do u expet a grandpa of 90 years to write the name correctly :))) He did said he can't see well thats why he writes in capital letters...Keep guessing who is bennyyoun, Abelloa, Mascerano, Velonin..hopefully Kuyt has just four alfabet in his name :)) else u may see Kuty at times
the team played well, benny did well you can only beat what is in front of you. and that team were poor but i was happy with all the players. lets hope we get a nice group, the mancs get sevilla, and chelski get valencia in there group because thease teams are not seeded.anyway well done lads, now for derby...
just read dis.. hilarious!! kuty?? muahahaha!! :D yeah i suppose he's half blind tho he seems to be able to read our comments perfectly well.. cheers mate! ;)
KUYT AND CROUCH LOOKED VERY GOOD TONIGHT AS DID BENNYOUN , MASCERANO, ARBELOA, THE WHOLE TEAM PLAYED WELL. WE PLAY DERBY NEXT LETS SEE A HATFULL OF GOALS.
I was very impressed by Liverpool's performance last night. Fair enough Toulouse were poor but that doesn't take away the fact that LFC performed well together and gelled throughout the game. Sissoko and Kuyt were particularly impressive as they battled like warriors throughout the game. It was hard to find a player on the pitch last night that you could say was playing bad. Arbeloa, while not having much to do still held himself well, the same could be said for Hyypia who defended calmly and also managed to score a goal. Leto seemed a little startled and overwhelmed by the crowd but performed really well and was masterful at keeping the ball in. As I said Momo was like a warrior always skillfully regaining the ball and his passing was immaculate, it's as if his goal against sunderland gave him a new found confidence. Benayoun was superb and was extremely keen while Dirk Kuyt won the supporters over once again by showing that he was never going to give up, he was like the engergizer bunny!
Great game to be honest. As ckane mentioned that the opposition werent great, but we cant take away anything from our players.
Benayoun obviously was man of the match.People mention that voronin was a great purchase, well yes he is ,but In my opinion so is yossi. The lad played like he was on a mission.Pinpoin accuracy in almost all his passes and through balls. Two assists I think or was it more?
Sissoko is finally starting to pass well.I'd be dishonest if i said he had great passes in the game, but there is improvement so we have to give him that.Good force when we need to rest Stevie G ,but still has alot of work to do.
Leto played well in the opening few minutes of the match then faded away and wasnt able to adapt to the remaining game.He is young so hopefully with a few carling cup games under his belt i feel he could be a good LW.
Lucas Leiva.Well this lad came on in the last 20 minutes and oh my was I waiting to see what this lad had.He made the passes simple, showed good vision and skill when attempting two through balls and this lad looks very very promising. He didnt do much but i loved every minute of him playing.
Finally the goal scorers.Hyppia, well remember when crouch broke his nose and started scoring for us.Well looks like when u aint scoring u need a broken nose to get ur head straightend out.
Good goal by crouch , but should of had alot more .Two headers in front of goal which should of been burried.Crouch leans forward to much when he goes up for a header therefore making him bend too much when he heads the ball. The man is 6"7 or something.ya dont need to jump that high!!
Finally Dirk.well he was good through out the game ran alot again.had some good headers and opportunities but its all good .when he scored the goals he worked for them and made them look good .congrats to the team on a fine game and making us proud.
P.s What a DM Javier Mascherano is.this guy is awesome.he played perfectly and didnt put a foot wrong all game.Hope we do buy him in the long run.
well its a welcome back to cisse, and zenden. lets hope we give them a warm welcome after beating them.i think porto will be the team to beat, but we should go though i am looking forward to quersma playing if he is still there. then istanbul bliss...
I was watching the champs lge draw on sky sports earlier and i said 2 my fiance whats the bet we have marseille and she said why do u say that and i said it gives cisse and zenden 2 face there old club and i was bloody right!!! it wouldnt surprise me if it was fixed u know! well nani is facing his old club in champs lge aswell! it something 2 think about tho isnt it?
Good shout mate, derby obviously gonna be one of the stugglers this season and not hard to predict we win but didnt think by so many like yourself, nice see the lads up front getting most of them, and xabi proving he not lost his eye for goal and can provide from midfield when stevie out, BUT its derby so lets not get carried away, you can only beat whats in front of you but this is a poor 11, but confidence going into the pompey match, tricky team pompey so all the better for this result, keep the steal on Manure and we should be in with a shout this time round

Well..those who have been expecting to see Quaresma at liverpool will finally see their wishes being realised...in the tie against Porto...We'll see finally if youTube really show the value of a player?? Who is better, Benayoun/pennant OR Quaresma?? We'll see if Rafa will be satisfied with the player and go for him next year, as he did for benayoun, after the lad terrorise liverpool defence in the Fa cup final.
One more French team to beat, we still don't kno if Cisse will be able to make it to anfield, coz most of the time he gets hurt, but zenden will surely be a potential danger.

Well Rafa said it on
http://www.liverpoolfc.tv/news/drilldown/N156847070830-1409.htm
There will be no new recruit, the squad is good, we do have enough cover for the back with Arbeloa, Darby, Riise, especially after Aurelio and Insua will be available to play as Left Back, so Riise and Arbeloa can be given some games as Central defender when we'll be winning by 3-0, Sissoko also is a very defensive player, we can try him in the back if need be, like Chelsea did with Essien.
As for Riise in the Back am a bit worried, coz he don't do enough to get the ball from the opponent feet, he just waits too much before tackling, but he can be given a try, we never knows.
As for Our FA Youth Cup Winner and Captain of that team, Stefen Darby, i'll see we need to see what the youngster has got in him.
And Finally, i'll say, the best defence is to attack, if we score 5 goals, we ain't gonna need to worry about the Problems in the Back ;)
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU CRITICALMIND
THE BEST FORM OF DEFENCE IS TO ATTACK, LET THE OPPOSITION WORRY ABOUT US. I HATE TO SEE TEAMS TRY AND HOLD ON TO A LEAD IT INVERABLY ENDS IN DISASTER. WE HAVE A TOP QUALITY SQUAD NOW,THE OPPOSITION HAVE TROUBLE GUESSING WHICH TEAM WERE GOING TO PUT OUT, SO LETS CONTINUE OUR GOOD START AND REALLY MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.

Great thrashing by liverpool, well thats the spirit, take all the occasions taht are created and convert them into goals... Great game by most of our players..
Super Torres showed his masterclass..What a goal, what pace he's got, getting better and better day by day.
Pennant crosses was superb, golden dish cross, So unlucky that the ball landed to kuyt who could not convert to goal :( But Pennant did so well in this game.
Alonso was great to get two goals.
Mascherano, the unsung hero, who kept the opponent in their own half for most of the match and sent a good ball to Torres.
Voronin..our super freebie, rare u see a players second touch on the ball being converted as a goal, and the thirs touch converted as an assist to goal...gret future for him.
And Babel was simply fantastic with his pace, dribling, pass and a well taken goal..great acquisition Benitez has made.
Bennayoun, Arbeloa, hyppia, agger, finnan...well everybody did a great job sending the ball forward as much as possible...
If we play like this against each and everyteam..the Premiership is definitely coming to Liverpool this season...
And we are on top in the Table for the first time since 2002, though it may last only 24 hrs, but its an improvement, hope we keep it like that.
Great job Rafa..keep it up!!! ;)
Rafa has always been a naturally cautious man, and one who doesnt want egg on his face, eg moaninino stating chavski best in europe then liverpool come along and ruin his dreams oh not once but twice ha ha, But we have had to put up with a second class midfield for years, yes we had redknapp and macca and berger etc who would be very decent players but we always played second fiddle to keane, beckham, scholes, giggs, viera, bergkamp, pires,l'berg, its been these last couple of years we have got it together and those teams are looking at us thinking jesus how we gonna stop Stevie, xabi, mascha, sisso, and now babel, so i say Boast and let them manc's hear you but always do it in the liverpool/shankly way which is pay respect were its due to teams enjoy victory but applaude the opposition when they win in style, Being and having the best is great BUT having class and respect is far greater,
Didnt see or listen to the match but if thats the truth and they singing Y.N.W.A then great, fergie be pissed, Manure fans be pissed, and even Keano, shame on them all round, and live of tv to, spreading the word and voice of L.F.C around to all who watching at the expense of our arch enemies,
Great, fat jordie wanna be's singing our song at the mancs , ha ha, cheers for the post wouldnt of seen it otherwise, fergie prop paid bbc not show it,

P.s What a DM Javier Mascherano is.this guy is awesome.he played perfectly and didnt put a foot wrong all game.Hope we do buy him in the long run.

enjoyed the match
really enjoyed the match last night thought every1 played great this is gonna b our season so glad that ref got suspended
champs league.....
well its a welcome back to cisse, and zenden. lets hope we give them a warm welcome after beating them.i think porto will be the team to beat, but we should go though i am looking forward to quersma playing if he is still there. then istanbul bliss...
champs league
I was watching the champs lge draw on sky sports earlier and i said 2 my fiance whats the bet we have marseille and she said why do u say that and i said it gives cisse and zenden 2 face there old club and i was bloody right!!! it wouldnt surprise me if it was fixed u know! well nani is facing his old club in champs lge aswell! it something 2 think about tho isnt it?
I FANCY A BIG RESULT AGAINST DERBY
I RECKON WE WILL GET A GOOD RESULT AGAINST DERBY, 4 OR 5 , I THINK THE TEAM IS BEGINNING TO PLAY WELL.
nice prediction
Good shout mate, derby obviously gonna be one of the stugglers this season and not hard to predict we win but didnt think by so many like yourself, nice see the lads up front getting most of them, and xabi proving he not lost his eye for goal and can provide from midfield when stevie out, BUT its derby so lets not get carried away, you can only beat whats in front of you but this is a poor 11, but confidence going into the pompey match, tricky team pompey so all the better for this result, keep the steal on Manure and we should be in with a shout this time round
Quaresma to liverpool
No more arrival...
Well Rafa said it on

And Finally, i'll say, the best defence is to attack, if we score 5 goals, we ain't gonna need to worry about the Problems in the Back ;)
TOTALLY AGREE THE BEAT FORM OF DEFENCE IS ATTACK
TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU CRITICALMIND
THE BEST FORM OF DEFENCE IS TO ATTACK, LET THE OPPOSITION WORRY ABOUT US. I HATE TO SEE TEAMS TRY AND HOLD ON TO A LEAD IT INVERABLY ENDS IN DISASTER. WE HAVE A TOP QUALITY SQUAD NOW,THE OPPOSITION HAVE TROUBLE GUESSING WHICH TEAM WERE GOING TO PUT OUT, SO LETS CONTINUE OUR GOOD START AND REALLY MAKE THINGS HAPPEN.
i think porto will be the
i think porto will be the one challengin us in the group...but im confident well top the group...

Liverpool 6 - Derby 0
Great job Rafa..keep it up!!! ;)
BOASTING
Rafa said we stop boasting about our midfield being the best, but we cant help it with the team playing like this.
boasting ok
