Should Liverpool sell Xabi Alonso?

Why are some people so stubborn and trying to convince themselves that Alonso is a player we desesperately need?? In his 110 league appearance he scored just 11 goals!! do you guys think we can win the EPL with such players??? Barry last season in just 37 appearance scored 9 goals!!
And who don't know barry's defensive skills and playmaking role while playing alonside Gerrard!! Who are we to decide if we need barry or not if our captain has gone public and speak to the press his desire to see barry at liverpool.. Steven gerrard knows whats the best for the club, he want the EPL just like all real fans, thats why he want a player with winning mentality not a player who just keep playing the possession game by passing the ball to the keeper!!
Even on European level, Alonso has scored only one goal in the Champions league!! 1 goal ONLY!! He was only a reserve for spain, is that a coincidence?? No, he is simply no more that good!!
We need to sell alonso, 14 million was a reasonable price for a player who just pass the ball to defenders or keeper!!

Mate, i've said it lots of times, stop believing newspaper rumours..just believed the confirmed news..its the same thing to some idiots who were believing each and every rumours of us getting bought by DIC that was appearing in newspapers everyweek and discussing again and again on the same shit that proved to be a waste of time and anger. As for voronin, am a bit confused, this player had an excellent start in last year preseason, then got chopped by Rafa's rotation policy before getting injured, yet he had more goals scored per game played as compared to Crouch..BUT still people seems to rate Crouch more, just coz he is Brit..How much time did it took crouch to score his first goal and how much for voronin?
The guy is agin shining in preseason this year, BUT if we are getting 3 million for him, its gonna be a masterpiece for Rafa.. Bringin a player for free and selling him for such a price after just one year, btw if we'll succeed in our pursuit for keane, i don't see why we need to keep voronin.

For all those who said No to this poll, may be they need to change their glasses!! How do you guys expect us to win the EPL with a midfielder who has scored only one goal in the EPL since joining LFC.. We need midfielders who can score at least 10 goals!

Lucas has already started scoring in the Preseason games, as for Carragher, i don't expect him to scores, coz he always stays back, yet he help by allowing hyppia going forward during corners and scoring goals.

All Alonso ever does is pass the ball sideways or backwards, he rarely scores and to my mind just ambles around the pitch, he hasnt performed since his first season at the club. We have enough nderperformers and should sell him at the first opportunity, he just doesnt do enough to warrent a place in our starting line up.

No, am not talking about Barry right now, am talking about Gabriel Heinze.. we miss on him last year and was unable to brig another decent left defender of central defender due to lack of funds from the american beggars.

Remember when Agger got injured and it was clear he won't return before quite a long time and our other defenders got injured we were left in a crisis, having to play Arbeloa in central defence. We draw in those games, coz our defence was ot solid and we conceded silly goals from set pieces, which coicidently were comig from the left side of the field.
Then came the semifinal of C.league, Aurelio got injured we had no other than nonperforming Riise to fill the spot, and he shows with his owngoal why he should have had snapped Heinze or another defender.
Are we gonna see a similar situation this year after missing on Barry.. am about 70% sure of that. Just like Barry, Alonos kows he is a want away player, who should have made place for the arrival of Barry, ad ow even those few passes that were going forward will be redirected backwards.
Besides, Barry was a very versatile player just like ManU has hargreaves and Chelsea has Essien.. i mean, if need be in a match, Barry can play on left side of midfield, as left defender, and as cetral defender, without forgetting that as well as being a holdig midfielder he is also very creative. What options does Alonso bring to the club???? He can't score goals!! He is not Versatile!!! He can't even play well in the role of holding midfield{we saw it when we were 3-0 down to AC Milan in 2005) and agist ManU when Mascherano was sent off.
And with us being without Mascherano for the first 3-4 matches..its pretty clear ONE MAN will again make the difference.
And this time its gonna be BARRY!!
So sad we've missed on such a player.

We have absolutley no width at all in the squad unless Babel comes good. Gareth Barry if he comes will not address this problem. The general consensus of opinion on this site and others is that Barry in for Alonso makes little sense and little difference. Whatever money is available should be spent on quality - Hansen, Alridge, Houghton etc etc have all pointed this out. Why spend a single minute of pre season games / training with Voronin & Kuyt playiong on the wing. Forget the stadium, forget Gareth Barry for now - we need two wingers added to the squad by the end of the month. The title is the only thing that counts.

I agree that Kuyt, Pennant and Voronin are not Premiership Standard, Bennyoun is a Squad player at best, we would be best served getting rid of all of them.

We do lack width our best option at the moment is to play Gerrard out on the right, and Babel on the left. We have lacked a winger for years now, Silva may fit the bill (he looks a bit lightweight but has ability ) . I would have given Anderson a try rather than loan him out again.

Regarding the Yanks it is unbelieable what they are getting away with, they have been rumbled there transfer kitty to Benitez has to have been 10m, which is an insult. Anyone who knows me knows I have been very critical of Rafa Benitezin the past, I am not a fan of rotation that is well documented.
However I must say I am impressed by the way in which he is running the club in very difficult circumstances. He has to be politically correct in his dealings with Hicks Gillet and Parry, he has had to sell in order to buy, and has been given bugger all in the way of a transfer kitty ( 10m at most ). Yet through it all he has remained upbeat and kept the team and players focused on the new season.

STULIVERED I know I slate Kuyt on this site, in fairness I can never question his effort I wish others had the same work ethic. However he did cost us 10m goalscorer he aint, his first touch is clumsy at best, yes he does add a few assists but in reality he has been a flop. Hard to believe a week ago we were so close to signing Gareth Barry yet now we seem further away than ever. How is it a fee of 18m was agreed last weeek, yet this week he is deemed too expensive ?
To my mind signing Barry is the difference between us winning the Premiership and not doing so, I will concede he is slightly overpriced but what player isn't these days ? Barry would be the perfect foil for Stevie G and Mascherano, he is a superb dead ball taker and would bring goals and a go forward attitude to our team, he would also bring balance to a team lacking on the left hand side, finally he is extremely versatile and can play in several positions.
It is a great shame that we have got so close to signing Englands top midfielder yet remain at a bridge too far. The Yanks and Parry are more stupid than they look, only Benitez can see the value of signing a recognised experience performer.
