How can someone compare the king, who was a natural goalscorer to a workhorse unable to bag a ball for weeks with so many clear chances!!!

Can anybody who vote for yes just give me an example when did Kuyt showed any sign of a proven goalscorer like Robbie???? I did not knew idiots who don't watch football vote on this site. Or maybe its just some dutch patriots keeping faith in him.
From 50 clear occasions he may be finally able to score one, e'g milan...but he is such a useless striker, just good for running around the opponents square, the cornerpost or midfield..

Was Fowler running all around the ground and sending the ball back to the keeper or midfielders when he received Crosses????
Was Fowler scoring only against Charlton and WestHam??????
Was Fowler always Shooting the keeper from 1 metre instead of putting the ball at the back of the net or sending the ball to the sky????

Thats whats most irritating about him..he talks and promise more than what he is capable of doing!!!
Look at his comments before each and every big match he promise to scores, Against Chelsea, Arsenal, Manure, Totenham...At times for his father, at times his sister, at times his mother and i don't kno for whom else...and finally after the game we see no goals, and even worst...plenty of missed occasions by Mr Kuyt!! Clear occasions in which i could have had scored even though not being a professional!

many times before i have said owen never mind robbie is better than kuyt.if it was,t for owens injury problems, i would have had him back anytime . kuyt is,t in the top 5 strikers that we have had.hunt, keegan, rush, fowler, owen. not in any order. as they were great strikers.

Obviously the poll doesn't imply that Kuyt can fill Robbie's boots straightaway, more based on his comments to the press.
It's unlikely that many players will be as successful or popular as Fowler maybe Kuyt wants an idol as a 'goal' to work towards. What's interesting though is the tone that has changed in regards to Kuyt over the last few months.
Ok he didn't have an amazing season and workrate was often seen as a factor for praise but since the new signings people are quick to put the boot in. Not sure where I stand on Kuyt currently, will be interesting to see how he gets off to the season with new players coming in.
Can Kuyt replace Fowler, a big no from me...

Mate...if kuyt would have had shown signs of improvemnet neither me nor nobody else would have critisized him here...But he just seems to stick ho his same game as last year, just running and running, whenever he get the ball instead of scoring he just pass the ball to somebody else backward...When HE is suppose to be the Striker!!!
He's role is to score, not to run around the field!!
He is taking Heskey as his idol...thats what we can deduce from his style of playing.
May be he'll score saturday against Villa...but i don't think he will reach more than 10 goals this season..he has shown no sign of that yet. Just compare his missed occasions, how he shoots the ball on the keeper...and How voronin and Torres slip the ball under the keeper..u'll get the answer.

Being totally honest I've only caught highlights of the pre-season games, I'm in no way defending Kuyt and have been as quick as others to criticise him last season it just seems he's had a lot more stick since the new signings have came in.
As you say the upcoming season will put a lot more pressure on Kuyt. Maybe he'll prove us all wrong and stick 20+ away :)

Mate your right but he did score against chelsea arsenal and tottenham last season. He isn't the best striker ever. He is however the 2nd best striker we have had since owen left after petey (not counting torres). There is something wrong with our club cant remember the last great striker we bought(hopefully torres will do the business)
Homegrown players..
I'd like to see another striker like owen coming out of the academy...had a bit of that in Mellor, but he was sold even before he gets to improve...lets wait Rafa new academy system brings somebody exiting...
I reckon After owen we did not had any good striker, Heskey was crap and same as kuyt, Cisse got hurt...But Pongolle looked good but was never given a run in liverpool, am pretty sure he was much much better than kuyt, just coz he was not a workhorse, he was sent to other clubs.
I'd hope he deliver this year...

MUST SAY I WASNT KEEN ON US SIGNING YOSSI, BUT HE HAS DONE WELL IN PRE SEASON, HE IS GOOD AT PASSING THE BALL AND IS VERY GOOD AT SEEING A THROUGH PASS, ALLTHOUGH HE WON'T SCORE AS MANY AS LUIS , I THINK HE MAY TURN OUT TO BE A GOOD SIGNING AFTER ALL.

he is a great player n is still improving n he plays like KAKA trust me after much time he will b even better than KAKA or c.ronaldo.

It will all depends where he play and alongside whom he play...
If we play him in the place of Alonso in the middle together with Gerrard, and behind these two, put mascherano in the holding role, Benni could show his efficiency...But not on the wings...As for his scoring capacity i don't kno anything about that...coz has not seen him scre too much for west ham, neither making great effort in preseason..but he showed signs of improvement.
He can be a good versatile midfielder, But not like Luis...and not a winger...so i can't really see him being compared to ronaldo..may be if u say so, comparison to kaka, so lets wait and see ;)
