SO THE SIZE OF OUR TRANSFER KITTY WAS 10M ?
Rafa Benitez yesterday admitted that he will need to sell members of the current squad if he wants to bring in further new faces before the start of the new season.
After splashing out nearly £20million on the signing of Irish striker Robbie Keane from Tottenham, Benitez confessed that he is still interested in bringing in Gareth Barry from Villa, but also that he will need to raise the cash to do so by selling. And those whose Anfield futures may be under threat include Jermaine Pennant, Andriy Voronin, Steve Finnan and Xabi Alonso.
Benitez said: "We knew that we could only spend money by selling players and we have been doing this (for Keane). We are still trying to sign the players that we need, and if we need to sell someone now, okay, we will do so.
"If we can do it (the Barry deal) before the end of the transfer window, we will continue to try. We will always continue to improve our squad."
But why should a club like Liverpool have to sell players in order to buy? It's not as if our net spending this summer has been massive. The club have raised approximately £21-22million this summer by selling Riise, Carson, Crouch and Guthrie while our outlay on Keane, Dossena, Ngog, Cavalieri and Degen (who was free) has been around £30-31million in total.
That means so far we've made a net spend of around £10million. Therefore, my question is, should a club who expect to challenge the likes of big-spending Manchester United and Chelsea for the Premiership title and have spent £10million net, have to sell in order to make another buy? Because I'm sure you'll agree £10million isn't a lot for a title-chasing club to spend before the need to sell becomes an issue.
What do you make of Rafa's revelations? Do you think the board is right to make Rafa sell before he buys again? Or do you think the board is once again letting the club down?
HICKS & GILLET ARE TRYING YET AGAIN TO PULL THE WOOL OVER OUR EYES YET AGAIN, THEY STATED WHEN THEY TOOK OUT THERE LAST LOAN THAT M HAD BEEN SET ASIDE FOR TRANSFER DEALINGS, THAT 25M HAS BECOME 10M.

Right to the point eddie, you've wrote exactly what was in my thoughts..just like last year when the yanks did not removed a sigle penny from there pocket and were claiming in all newspapers that they provided fund for transfer, the same thing is repeating again.
So, now its as clear as crystal that the yanks are not providing fuds for us to acquire new players, the money is coming from Champions league and Rafa's profit makig on players he is selling or will be selling.
Maurino was sacked from chelsea after he refused to do such things what rafa is doing now, selling players to be able to buy.
And thanks to our Board we made a superb profit on carson by refusing him to Villa ad asking 10 milllion from them instead of the 7 million they were offering, to finally despatching him for just 3.5 million. And same thing seems to be repeating again with Alonso, Refusing 14 millios to finally accept 12 millions or may be less.
Great piece of Business, Hail Prick Parry!! Hail our america beggars hic ad gilet!! hail our anfield boardroom!!
Even lower club like Portsmouth is doing better dealings than us!
These yankees are disgrace to the club!
LIARS LIARS LIARS!!!
Makes you wonder what next years transfer kitty might be ?, next year the club becomes seriously saddled with debt ( due to interest on loan repayments ), unless Hicks and Gillet sell up and ship out.
Everything that was great about Liverpool Football Club has been lost due to Two incompetants owning the club, add another incompetant Parry ( he after all sancioned the sale of the club ) and its not hard to see whats gone wrong.
MORE THAN ANY OTHER THING NEW OWNERS ARE A PRIORITY FOR OUR FOOTBALL CLUB, DIC WOULD APPEAR THE RIGHT PEOPLE TO BRING BACK SOME SANITY TO A CLUB ON THE DECLINE. TO REALISE OUR DREAMS OF A NEW STADIUM WITHOUT AFFECTING THE TEAM PERFORMANCE WE NEED HUGE INVESTMENT, DIC ARE ONE OF THE FEW FINANCIAl INSTITUTIONS THAT CAN AFFORD SUCH SUMS. LETS HOPE THAT THEY ARE HERE WHEN HICKS AND GILLET FINALLY REALISE THEY CANNOT AFFORD TO RUN SUCH A GREAT CLUB.
