What should we expect from the Season ahead?
What should be our realistic expectation from the Season ahead ?
For me our priority must be a Premiership Challenge, we havnt had one for such a long time. Playing our best elevan we can beat any team , but our recold against the big guns and our consistancy levels keep letting us down.We could and should still be in the Premiership race come Easter. MORE THAN ANY OTHER THING THAT IS THE LEAST I EXPECT THIS SEASON.
We have a superb recold in Europe and I can see us getting to the later stages yet again, we are suited to the two leg format and we could go all the way yet again.
We seem to take the FA CUP for granted these days, but shouldnt , a day out at webley is still a wonderful thing.
In the Carling Cup we need to be blooding the multitude of young talent that we have playing inour Resertves and Youth teams. I want to see Two or Three young players making the break through into our First Team this Season. I have great hopes for Nemeth Plessis and Insua, with 7 on the bench it gives us the best opportunity ever to progress our young talent.
What do you guys expect ?
I expect us 2 be fighting 4 the PL title ed as we should be doing every season the big question is will it be this year? if we can get barry and maybe keane or villa and a winger then we got a big chance of winning the league coz 2 be honest we wont win the league with the likes of kuyt,voronin,pennant etc etc in the side they are second raters! im gutted crouch is goin tho he's a very good player he doesnt get the credit he deserves he will be a big loss 4 us i hope rafa replaces quality 4 quality i.e- keane,villa,podolski pavlychenko the last 2 ive mentioned has quality and bags of it what u guys think?
Jamie Carragher has called for Reds fans to shelve talk of a title-winning season in favour of focusing on the team making a meaningful challenge for the domestic game's biggest prize - the Premiership title.
He said: "People always talk about us pushing for the league, but to be honest it isn't very often that we've even challenged. If we were challenging with 10 or 15 games to go then who knows? But just a challenge this season would be nice, to still be in the hunt.
But after 18 years of waiting for that elusive 19th title, and with Manchester United just one title behind our record now, do you think the fans should settle simply for a title challenge ?
With the players weve got do we deserve better, or are we not as good as we think we are ?
To my mind it comes down to consistancy, we can beat anyone on our day, but our recold against our main rivals is poor, until we start beating the Mancs, Arse and Chelski, on a regular basis, then we will remain as also rans. Signing Barry and Keane / Villa must improve the team, and if we do sign these players then I think we have every right to expect to win the title and I think its about time that Carragher and a number of our team took some responsability for our poor attempts at a Premiership Challlenge, because ultimately they are the ones out on the pitch representing the club.
kev your right about crouch. he was never given the run he deserved. better than kuyt, and voronin. he will be back to haunt us. my choice is villa, for 20 mil i prefer him to keane. but if we can,t have villa then keane will do. we need wide men but most of all we need 11 redmen with heart. because they owe us fans big time...
i think we will do better than last season.. i dun think we hav the consistency to go all the way yet, but we're definately gona get way closer.. probably we'll do better than Chelsea or Arsenal..
Bout Carra's comments.. Rather unnecessary but can do more good then harm.. it jus takes away pressure from the players, especially the new ones :)
