Rafa's new formaton seems to be a real winner, using Alonso and Mascherano in the middle allows Stevie G to get forward more and attack more. Stevie's understanding with Torres seems to get better every week, and Benitez appears to be selecting our best players every week.
Playing with just one up front means our non scoring forwards Kuyt , Voronin, and Crouch arn't really missed, because our two best players Torres and Gerrard have the intelligence to make things work. Ultimately I prefer to see two strikers , but untill another Quality forward is signed I think Rafa has got things spot on.
What are your views ? will this formation be enough to see us into Forth place ? and beat Arsenal in the Champions League ? or should we revert back to 4-4-2 ? or is playing one up front far too defensive ?
yes i agree he finally got things right but its far 2 late now it should av been like this at the beginning but i suppose fighting 2 stay 4th place is far better than fighting 2 stay from relegation
bringing in another forward isnt going to make it better, our formation is built on 1 striker so where does this new forward play, it would mean changing the formation.
kuyt is playing and scoring as few goals as he always has, torres and stevie have been scoring all season, (torres only been benched twice)The players are basically the same, except babel is playing more and more. its not new its just that were winning thats what makes the difference and its
making people forget we are still short of the mark. i like you want a 4-4-2 however i like the players to be able to play any formation able to change it to suit the opposistion.
Only real difference lately is the fact crouchy isnt getting a game, he is leaving torres and kuyt on untill the end which never happened. we need another forward to take the pressure of torres but we then need to play 4-4-2 and we need a winger as kuyt isnt one, he is doing a job well (where are his critics now) but we need someone like babel down the right, wish pennant had worked out but he carrying to much weight (around his ankle) to care
I felt all season when they were playing a 4-4-2 that the other forward was not taking the pressure off of Torres, but rather getting in his way. I love the new formation and I think it should be implemented next season. However, you are right about Kuyt. He is doing a fine job, but that is not his position. Sell either him or Crouch and bring in another world-class player at right winger. For all you USA haters out there. I guarantee you Hicks will put up big money over the summer for such a player. Americans like to spend their money (just look at the current crisis going on).
