Do you guys thik we can win this match without Mascherano or Lucas in Midfield.. i doubt so. Also i hate kuyt, i'll still prefer him to start on the right to cover our shitty defence on that side, ad may be by the end send subs him with whoever. Still unsure about our winning chance, but will hope for the best.
This is what Rafa had to say about Dirk Kuyt yesterday, makes me wonder if I'm watching the same player ?, makes me question wether I'm watching the same football matches ? makes me wonder full stop.
Rafa Benitez claims Dirk Kuyt is every manager's dream as the Dutchman prepares to make his 100th Liverpool appearance.
The 28-year-old is set to become the 185th player to reach a century for the club against Standard Liege tonight.
Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He is a very, very good player for any team or squad. He's a fantastic professional who can score goals, and his workrate is amazing.
"He's also a fantastic teammate, so he's a player any manager would want in his squad. He is always the same in every game and training session – a very good professional and a nice boy."
Kuyt will this evening look to continue a knack of scoring in Europe which yielded seven goals in last season's Champions League.
Benitez doesn't believe the striker's prolificacy in Europe is any coincidence.
He explained: "In the Premier League the football is physical.
"But in Europe it is more tactical. He has good movement and this allows him to get into the box more easily."
it won,t be a easy game, but will we win? i think so mash is a good player but it will not matter if he plays or not, WE SHOULD BE BEATING TEAMS LIKE THIS whoever plays. because of the first game there will be caution. but for me liverpool should hold no fear of anyone. this is the managers job to make the players belive, this is were sammy comes in he knows the liverpool way.if they fail to beat this team they should all give there wages to a charity for a year. i hate losers, and i hate lack of confedence,my god i use to go to anfield to see not if we won but how many we won by. i am a big rafa surrporter everyone on here knows that, but he has to install a animal instict of winning at all costs. sg has got it, jc has and i will include reina in that too. the rest need to follow suit, oh and maybey torres too he hates losing i will be there tonight hoping for a great performance and a win...
I thought this article to be spot on re our problem areas out wide and at full back.
entitled Wide areas cause for concern.
ONE of the frequent maxims trotted out by fan and pundit alike is that, in order to win a championship, you have to win while playing badly.
However, no-one seems to have told Liverpool that this does not apply to every match.
Two wins from two games, against sides that deserved at least a point for their efforts, seems to have convinced many optimistic observers that the Premier League is ours for the taking.
Throw in the abysmal performance at Standard Liege, and it’s clear we’re going to sweep all before us.
I don’t know why the others don’t throw in the towel here and now.
Sadly, the reality is that we’ve started the season in dreadful form, unable to string more than a few passes together, creating few chances and looking vulnerable down the flanks.
We’ve ridden our luck and relied once again upon the side’s stalwarts to dig us out of the mire, and if we don’t sort ourselves out soon we’ll be out of Europe, and have our championship prospects firmly shown up by Aston Villa and Man Utd in the next 10 days.
Of course, the players we have in the squad are more than capable of mounting a convincing challenge; they’ve been telling us about it all summer.
What’s needed now is the realisation that it’s time to walk the walk, not just talk the talk.
You can’t ease yourself into the season anymore; Chelsea raised the bar on that one years ago.
You have to come out of the blocks flying, and not let up until the fat lady collapses from exhaustion in May, unable to squeeze out one more breath, let alone burst into song.
What’s particularly frustrating is that the faults evident to all for several years have yet to be eradicated.
We’ve built a formidable spine to the side; and I’m convinced that Robbie Keane will strengthen this still further once he’s settled in.
Keane’s a notorious slow starter to the season, and new surroundings will exacerbate this.
He’ll come good, I’m sure.
I wish I could be as confident about our flanks.
How many more wingers and full-backs are we going to buy and try before we get it right? You don’t need the benefit of Match-of-the-Day graphics to see our lack of width is going to let us down again, and it’s been this way since Houllier’s time.
Zenden, Gonzalez and Nunez have all arrived and departed, while Pennant, Kewell, Garcia and Smicer have all been tried and ditched.
Kuyt and Benayoun may soon be added to that list; Ryan Babel be warned.
At full-back it’s worse; with Arbeloa, Aurelio, Kromkamp, and Josemi average players at best (yes I know that’s flattering one or two of them).
Are Degen and Dossena going to break this mould?
Far be it from me not to give a man a chance, but if you were there on Saturday I bet you’re not buying a number two shirt just yet are you?
Rafa has been at pains recently to praise the hard work our network of scouts are putting in to identify the right players at the right price.
It’s tempting to conclude that Baden-Powell himself must head up this particular troop.
So it looks like we’ll have to hold our breath while the likes of Darby, Insua, El Zhar and Leto develop sufficiently for us to see if they’re made of the right stuff.
In the meantime those currently occupying the flank positions might want to ponder that the truism at the head of this article is a post-match rationalisation, not a pre-match instruction.
hi im just gonna test as im having trouble getting my posts on ur forum
ok i have it now i have edited so i dont double post lol i read last night that we r still in 4a chance with barry but a.v boss wants £12m plus part ex 4 finnan what do u think rafa will do??
good luck in 2nites match
according to the breaking news on SSNEWS julie barrys agent has said that he wont be leaving villa in this transfer window so the odds of us getting barry now are very slim im gutted aswell we gotta settle 4 second best yet again coz of the yanks!!! the scroogie bastards! even suderland has more money than we have! there spending money like its goin outa fashion! and we struggling to find the 18m for barry the yanks are a complete and utter joke!!!
Kevj you are right allmost everyone has spent more than us , if you look at net spend were in for 32.5m deduct 21.0 from sales our net spend has been to date 11m.
Aston villa , Bolton, Chelski, Fulham, Man City, Portsmouth, Sunderland, Tottenham and West Brom have all spent more, admitibly Reirra is not included in these figures. Rafa was promised 25m when the yanks refinanced, plus any money he got from outgoing transfers, this money has failed to materialise, because if it had he would still have a further 35m to spend. Also what has happened to the 21m we got from getting to the Champions League Semis last Season ?
The Yanks and Prick Parry will say that they have backed the manager financially, I say what a load of old bollocks, Fulham Sunderland West Brom and Bolton have had more to spend than us.
i am getting news that arse wants alonso. its weather he pays 16mil. alonso has allready agreed terms, now if he does go in time we might still get barry. i know his agent has said he wants to stay this season. but here is the catch he will not talk about a new contract till next season. now we all know next year barry can buy out his contract for about 5mil. has he not said he wants to join lfc? now if you were mon would you take the chance he will sign? no i don,t think so and i think barry will make them pay for putting a stupid price on his head, costing him his dream move. mon must be crapping himself as he could end up with nothink. arogant man yes stupid well we will see. in this world never say never..
With the transfer window drawing to a close what do you think of our Summer arrivals, personally I don't really think there all that,
Cavelleri looks ok as a backup to Reinna, Dossena looks no better than Insua so we could have saved ourselves 8m there, Ngog looks ok compared to Kuyt and Voronin, Keans should prove a tremendous signing given time he and Torres could set the Premiership on fire, Degan didnt cost anything which is just as well ( I prefer Finan and Darby ) and will Reirra really be much better than what weve got ?.
A pretty motley crew all up.
Yet it could have been Barry Rafina Queresma , to my mind weve bottled it yet again, buying on the cheap ( with the exception of Keane ) gets you nowhere. Top Quality comes at cost we'd have been better off not buying Dossena and Reira and nabbing Barry or Queresma. All down to bad management at the top yet again , what are Parry Hicks and Gillet up to ? and what are our scouts up to surely they could have come up with something better ? Equally we have failed to get rid of Voronin, Pennant, Alonso and Kuyt even though we had bids for the last two. All Four are not up to playing in our First Team and just get in the way of young players coming through. What do you guys think ? am I right or wrong in my assesment ? We should have bought Barry ( who was in the bag ) and Queresma.
a few days to go yet before the window closes.i would have liked kompany he is a good player for 6mil, what city payed for him.i am saving my judgment on the players we have bought, till a few more games have gone. i will give them a chance then judge.i wanted quaresmera but looks like inter have got him.well getting ready for the match now have me dinner then off to the game. lets hope were magic, ynwa..
Kompany was the one player I wanted us to buy more than any other last Season, 6m is an absolute steal, I rate the guy the best defender in Europe.
We could have got queresma if we'd really pushed hard enough and Barry couldnt have wanted the move more again we have missed out and look as though were going for a not so good cheaper option.
Enjoy tonight I fancy us to find our form and win 3-0 and I have a sneaky feeling Torres and Keane are going to click into gear tonight.
Your spot on with ur post about our signings 2 date eddie to my knowlege eddie we had a 5m bid for kuyt and rafa turned it down which is a joke why he turned it down is beyond me only rafa can tell u that or maybe he's holding out 4 what he payed 4 him and we both know that will never happen! kuyt, voronin, pennant & alonso are holding us back dearly and as u say ed they are stopping the likes of nemeth, darby, insua etc etc coming through what id like 2 know eddie is when is rafa gonna draw the line with regards to playing crap like kuyt, voronin, pennant etc rafa must be blind or stuck on stupid! no wonder we cant beat the top 3 with the likes of those in our team the likes of fergie must have a good laugh when he sees the likes of kuyt or voronin in our team coz they would never ever get in there team realisticly now ed how do u think we will do in the PL this season i have my opininon but ill keep it 2 myself 4 now.
Just been watching the first 45 mins of the game and we havent got a fcuking clue what we are doing the midfield is tripping over each other! and how rafa can start with the likes of aurelio and kuyt beggers belief i really think kuyt has something on benitez im just fed up with us playing so crap i dont like our style of play at all at the moment i hope this is rafa's last year coz we seem 2 be getting worse by each game im fcuking sick of it just watching kuyt he makes my fcuking blood boil he's as much use as a choclate fcuking teapot!!!
totally agree with you kev j, kuyt is worthless but at the moment you cant just blame him because the whole team is crap at the minute, whats fucked us up again this season is our lack of action in the transfer market. we should have had the barry saga sewn up long ago and we should have gone for bentley when he became available but we didnt and now we will pay the price, to be totally honest i think if we go through tonight we will be very lucky because we should have been dead and buried long ago.
We dont seem to be in the right mind. We need strength our players are being pushed off easily. Babel looks like he doesnt care. I wouldnt mind seeing some of the players from liege on our side. Why look elsewhere.
We need to stop zonal marking. Stick to the man marking. Kuyt shouldnt be on the wing. We need a winger and not a midfielder. Lets not take it away from liege...they are a good organised team with alot of strength and skill.
Hope we make it tbh. It doesnt look so good. Keep the faith people.
That has 2 be the worst we've played 4 a while i didnt think it could get any worse but ive witnessed 2nite it has! what is it with rafa and his below par players kuyt, aurelio, alonso, arbeloa im not giving any player any credit coz they was all shyt. kuyt had a stinker as he always does babel set up the goal but why the fcuk is he on the left side when he's right footed and rafa is suppose to be the professional! its like putting round pegs in 2 square holes! god help us this season! i really cant see it getting any better i got this feeling in my bones that rafa will be out by xmas and if rafa thinks this team is better than last yr then he needs to wake up and smell what he's shoveling! is it me or does it seem the way we play doesnt suit robbie keane? what u think of us so far and can u really see it getting any better soon?
dont know abt u lot but wot is most of the team doing??if we keep playing like that i cant c us getting anywhere
again he plays shite then scores the important goal what is he up 2?rafa 2 lick his arse?if it wasnt 4 reina we would av lost the game in the 1st half so well done reina with those magnificent saves
have 2 wait till 2mrw 2c who we face we should av had the penalty
but it was a nail bitting match
i will just finnish off by saying well done 2 leige 4 doing their best

SACK BENITEZ
Hi guys, this is my 1st post here and after tonights performance i was so incensed i had to start this thread.
It cant just be me...cant it???
I cant bear to watch this anymore.....these players (well most of them) are bloody decent lads. But can they play the way Benitez wants them to?
DEFINATLEY NOT!!!!
There is NO flowing attacking football, its all backwards and sideways then backwards again.
We are becoming a laughing stock in the Prem, i know we cant go back in time to when we were a Fortress BUT we need to start building something because this crap that Benitez has built the three little Piggies are getting mighty close to blowing it down!!!!!
We have no width......so Benitez sells Rise and plays Yossi??? An also trys to sell Pennent and defiantley doesnt play him????
Well i'm sure a lot of you wont agree because of a bit of luck in 2005 but as ive said earlier we cant go back in time and we certainly cant live in the Past.
i can see its your first time on here so lets give you a run down.we had all this shite last year sack rafa. yes we played shite i was there, but after kicking and screaming, and a few drinks afterwords, i said hey we got though. and we did. what if we played top class and lost? you would still be saying sack rafa. blame the players they are not performing.this lot got us to the semi final last year remember.as for selling riise most people on here wanted that,as for luck i belive you make your own luck. yes we have not played well all season yet were joint top in the prem , and in the c/l i reapeat myself what if we had played well and had won no games? its all about winning and if anyone needs to be sacked its the yanks and parry..we are only a few games into the season patience is a virtue. and this is liverpool..
Rafa was stated as saying that there was 2 players he gave praise to last night and that was kuyt & riena ok riena played brilliant over 2 legs but fcuking kuyt! he was shit in first leg and the second leg i dont care if he scored the winner are we missing something here what games has rafa been watching when kuyt has played! i think rafa needs stronger glasses i think if rafa was a bit more brave and leave kuyt out of the team we would play well and win more he isnt needed in our team he doesnt bring anything to the team im convinced kuyt has something on rafa i reckon there lovers! how long would these players kuyt, voronin, pennant, aurelio last at the top 3 sides they'd all be sold already we need a shake up and get rid of the under achievers thats where he needs to start it isnt that difficult rafa pull ur finger out or us fans are going to get more and more pi*sed off the way we are playing unless u doing something about it! GET RID OF THE DEADWOOD!
Rafa Benitez keeps playing players out of position, Right footed players play on the left ( Babel, Bennyoun ) and then we have forwards playing out of position on the wing ( Kuyt ), we also have full backs scared of crossing the halfway line ( Aurelio Arbeloa ) and midfield players playing the ball sideways and backwards like crabs ( Alonso Plessis Lucas ). OUR WHOLE GAME IS DEFENCE MINDED WE FAIL TO PLAY AN OFFENSIVE GAME.
BENITEZ NEEDS TO STOP PUTTING SQUARE PEGS IN ROUND HOLES.
Play Babel or Bennyoun on the Right, even play Pennant if need be, KUYT IS NOT A WINGER. Play Dossena or Insua ( our Two most attacking full backs ) STOP ALL THIS SIDEWAYS AND BACKWARDS PASSING (IT REMINDS ME OF ENGLAND AT THERE WORST) and lets have some creativity.
Stevie G and Torres ( plus Bennyoun to a lesser degree) are the only Three players who attack the opposition. El Zhar showed what a wide man played in his correct position can do with a bit of old fashioned fight.
THANK GOD FOR PEPE REINNA, BECAUSE WITHOUT HIM LIVERPOOL WOULD BE IN THE EUFA CUP DRAW ON FRIDAY, Leige played with intelegence and played with heart, they also attacked, we on the other hand were out fought and out thought.
I blame Benitez for his team selection and negative tactics, last year we complained about rotation, until he plays round pegs in round holes I cannot see much improvement.
The only players to come out of last nights game with any credit were Reinna, Carragher, Skrtel, and El Zhar, Gerrard and Torres were ok, the rest were clueless they lacked fight passion skill flair they played like Sunday School Footballers. To think these players are earning £50-60,000 a week is a digrace to us hard working fans. We cannot even take Corners correctly.
IF EVER A TEAM NEEDED A COLLECTIVE BOLLOCKING AND KICK UP THE ARSE IT IS THE ONE BENITEZ PUT OUT LAST NIGHT.
Robbie Keane must wonder what kind of team he has joined, he has looked totally lost in a jungle of unimaginative rubbish .
Hi Eddie, I didn't see last nights game (perhaps I was lucky!!) but at least we got the result. I know you and many others are not Kuyt fans but he seems to get us out of the shite very often. However I did see the Middlesborough game and if you are talking about shite, absolute shite, Keane would have had my nomination!! I really hope Rafa has not made yet another epensive mistake. How did he go last night.
Submitted by Criticalmind on Thu, 2008-08-28 10:37.
Keane was shittier than SHIT last night, a complete waste of money. Me neither am not a fan of kuyt, but he simply outclassed keane yesterday.. i wonder if keane was really Benitez first option or was it Barry.. Great thanks to our clever chief executive Prick Parry!!
Look at the forum, i thought i was the only one to have noticed keane's contributio in our last 4 match, but seems am not the only one. Lets wait a few months more and then make our verdict about him, may be till the he'll go back to totenham and get back his scoring boots ;)
whats wrong with you lot, yes we played shite i was there.but were still in the c/l joint top in the prem. I REPEAT MYSELF ITS ABOUT WINNING.keane has just got to the club give him a chance kuyt has been here a few years and is still shite, yes he scored the goal thats all he did i wonder if any of you seen sg telling him off actually saying your shite sort it out.kuyt could never outclass anyone, i am surprized at criticalmind.the next game villa away will be tough lets see how we do were only a few games in calm down. if we played shite all season and won the prem how many of you wold complain?
Yes it is all about winning and getting a result at the end of the day, but its the way you play that matters the most plus how your players put in a performance against the opposition that is important as well, it is a measure of well your team will do down the line in future games.Never in all my years of watching Liverpool, in particulary at European level, were we simply outclassed on all areas of the pitch. only for the splendid saves of Pepe Reina last night and also in the first leg kept us in the competeition.
Leige simply outmuscled us in every part of the pitch, the number of times Torres was knocked off the ball was unreal and it is a testament to the Belgium side that we couldnt match them in their sheer physicality either. We simply do not have enough creativity and drive. Bennyoun simply just ran in circles, Dirk Kuyt just well.........just ran i guess, dispite the goal, i thought his performance was not great. Rafa seems to have this notion of looking at the oppostion with the intent of containing them rather than all out attacking and it just goes to show that sadly we do not have a team and a squad with the quality and guile to do that, this is his make or break season!!!!
we all know we played crap over the 2 legs, but were thrue, did you watch chelsea v wigan? well chelski had 2 shots and scored one wigan had 12 scored none .wigan outplayed them yet still lost. what did they say? its all about winning.... yes my point i have seen l,pool play teams off the park and still lose, arse play will flair what do they win? too many of you are judging far too early, as you said torres was out muscled and is not he a good player? no team yet is flowing ata 100 percent. remember it is a marathon, not a sprint..
I totally agree with you saying that we cant judge the team overall and that it is a marathon and not a sprint, but my main concern is with the overall layout of the squad and how Rafa lays out the squad in its formation, Rafa has been in the job long enough to know, which players are best utilsed in their roles but ulitmately he seems to rigidly stick with a system that is'nt practical. Having said that i take my hat off to Liege as i doubt Liverpool will ever face a tougher acquisition this season built on strenght and pace, there was a least 2 or 3 of the players who i think would play very well in the premiership. Anyway roll on the Villa this Saturday, be interesting to see how Gareth Barry will play.....
Just when you think things can't get any worse I read today that Stevie G is out for Two weeks with a groin op, he will miss the Villa and Man U games.

i agree with u about square pegs and round holes but you have to admit kuyt did play well from start to finish that sort of game you need a tireless hard worker and he did his job . i disagrree in playing him as a right winger but he played well he's a useful squad player. Anyway we were lucky not to lose we were totally out of ideas everywhere everyone seemed to be at their worst game. benitez is on about winning ugly but we havent put in one solid performance this seaseon so far , we need to change if we have any hope of beating united in two weeks , especially without gerrard!
My Match Ratings
Reina - 8
Arbeloa - 5
Carra - 7
Skrtel - 6
Aurelio - 5
Benayoun - 4
Alonso - 5
Gerrard -6
Kuyt - 7
Keane - 6
torres - 6
Subs:
Babel - 6
El zhar - 7
plessis -( no outing really)
So far this Season we have played poorly but got results, a lot can be said for our stickability, a game lasts ninety minutes and good teams often score late on.
Kuyt didnt have a good game last night but he kept at it and got his reward, slate him all you want but he kept going and won us the game. My concern is for how many players are playing poorly, Aurelio, Arbeloa, Alonso, Plessis, Bennyoun Kuyt and Babel (being played out of position by Rafa doesnt help them)and Keane ( who doesnt look worth 20p let alone 20m, he hasnt done a thing in Four games ), also our tactics seem all over the place even more negative than usual, it's as if our full backs are scared to cross the halfway line, have they been told not to ? why are our midfielders obsessed with passing the ball sideways and backwards ? have they been told to do so? our corners are crap why ? ( can't our backroom staff and Benitez see this week in week out ? ), our free kicks just as bad, no one gets to the byline, all of these things must be seen by the backroon staff and manager so why is nothing being done to rectify this nonsense on the training ground ? HOW HARD IS IT TO TAKE A DECENT CORNER ?
To say weve been riding our luck is an under statement.
Keane's contribution to the team has been zero , he is struggling to fit in to the team ( in fairnes we are hardly helping him bed in the way that were playing ). So would we be better reverting back to just Torres up front ?
We have Two big games coming up Villa away ( a lucky ground for us ) and Man U at home ( a game we need to win if we are to stand any hope of winning the Premiership our recold against Man U Chelsea and Arsenal has been abysmal over the last few years and needs serious improvement ) we will be without Stevie G for both games ( our best player ) so how should we play it ? I reckon revert back to one up front drop Keane back into misfield play 4 - 1 = 4-1
Reinna
Darby Carragher Skrtel or Agger Dossena
Mascherano
Bennyoun Keane Lucas Babel
Torres
allow keane licence to run free either that or drop him alltogether and play Alonso
When you look at the way were playing it really makes you question the quality of player that we actually have ? there are question marks about Arbeloa Aurelio Kuyt Lucas Pennant Alonso Babel Keane Bennyoun Voronin Kuyt which is far too many, something is very wrong either our tactics or the players attitudes abilities.
We have to shapen up or else we will have a trophyless season again. I for one will not I repeat will not accept that.
We need to contend for the EPL and also fight on all fronts like the bloody rest.
What bugs the living hell out of me is rafas team selection and this crappy zonal marking. I'm not so sure I have faith in his transfer ability either.
Let the players play in the positions they know how. We didnt need keane at all. Put babel back as a striker and thats it. Spend on bloody good wingers not reira ffs.
Who do you think are our best full backs ? My vote goes to Darby and Insua. I would normally have said Finnan but he's age is against him and I rather see us give these two youngsters there chance than watch Aurelio Arbeloa and Dossena bore the pants of me.
Aurelio is a pretty good defender but lacks any type of forward play, Arbeloa showed promise has been given a chance to make the right back position his own but is unconvinvcing, Dossena looks good going forward but is he worth 8m? time will tell, Degan is injured but will a freebie really have the class needed for the Premiership ?
Insua has done well in the games he has played, and Darby looks very solid and is definately one for the future. Neither of these players would let us down so what have we got to lose by giving them both there chance ? we know what were going to get with the others ( nothing special ) so lets see Benitez try these two youngsters if it pays off we will have players that can star for us for many years to come.
Finnan is still better than Arbeloa in my eyes. Benitez seems to have cast Finnan out of the squad too and tends to fall out with players we need. Alonso too is now staying and yet the world knows Benitez and him have fallen out and Benitez wants rid of him.
Not the best atmosphere to have with 2 players who should still be in the first 11.
your right about finnan, but once rafa falls out with you its goodbye. i would like darby to be given a go and insua . the reason alonso wants to go is because rafa wants him out. due to him going to spain to his wife , while she gave birth. at the time we had a c/l game , rafa asked him to stay, well you no what he said. i tink keane is trying to hard. and he looks scared, give him time. as far as barry is concered mon thinks he has won but barry won,t sign a new contract and can buy out his contract for 2 mil next year. mon knows this what a fool. because he will end up selling him for less now maybey in jan, he had 15 mil from l,pool i don,t know why he didnot take it. whats the point in having a player who wants to move on? only mon can answer that.
Yeah Rouman, O'Neill was a fool. I suppose he thinks by keeping Barry for a while longer he has stood up to the bigger club but in reality once Barry made it clear he wanted out Villa should have said Good luck and taken the cash.
Then again look at Manure and Ronaldo. He has made Utd look small by saying he wants to go to Madrid yet still the scum are shameless enough to keep him. If Torres ever behaved like that I'm sure most Pool fans would tell him to f-off if he thought anywhere was better than Anfield.
My worry is we lack totally striking options now with Crouch gone. Who had we to bring on as a striker last night? No one. Where will goals from in this team if Keane doesn't improve? It'll be all Gerrard and Torres again.
We bought no world class wingers and everyone knew we needed one at least. We are now weaker at full back than we were two years ago when Finnan and Riise were doing well. After 5 years Benitez should have a settled squad and be ready for a challenge. Yet we look like a team of strangers.
He won't give the team freedom and that's why we so often look like a team without a clue how to pass and move and create chances.
yes i also seen that wen sg told kuyt he shit also i saw rafa shouting at kuyt 2 pass the ball
by the way what was all that shouting abt between rafa & the other manager abt?? it was funny lol
there manager went mad because we never gave them the ball back, when one of there players went down. rafa told the players to play on because there player had dived. when your at a game you see and hear alot more. we were also denied a pen the names they called the ref made me go red.it was a pen thoe.we do need to improve because mon has got it in for us so we have to improve agaist villa on sunday.
ur sooo right but i dont blame crouch 4 leaving as rafa was & still is 2 stubborn always wanting his arse licker on the field instead of bringing on some1 who knows where the net is
and ur right rafa should have a well settled team now after 5 years with us but from me he is no better than houllier.we fans know rafa doesnt give a crap abt any1 but i thought it was funny last night it looked like rafa was getting ready 2 punch the living shit out of leig manager lol
True Julie it looked like he was going to slap him one like Scolari did to some player months ago. Would have been funny.
The Standard coach, Baloni is his name, was a nutter though. Bit like Martin O'Neill on the touchline or John Aldridge at Tranmere. They'd argue with their shadows when they get pumped up.
Liege match..
Benitez has this to say about Kuyt - is he talking about the sam

Wide areas - full backs
In the meantime those currently occupying the flank positions might want to ponder that the truism at the head of this article is a post-match rationalisation, not a pre-match instruction.
just having trouble
hi im just gonna test as im having trouble getting my posts on ur forum
ok i have it now i have edited so i dont double post lol i read last night that we r still in 4a chance with barry but a.v boss wants £12m plus part ex 4 finnan what do u think rafa will do??
good luck in 2nites match
rumours julie
according to the breaking news on SSNEWS julie barrys agent has said that he wont be leaving villa in this transfer window so the odds of us getting barry now are very slim im gutted aswell we gotta settle 4 second best yet again coz of the yanks!!! the scroogie bastards! even suderland has more money than we have! there spending money like its goin outa fashion! and we struggling to find the 18m for barry the yanks are a complete and utter joke!!!
Kevj - almost everyone spent more than us
Kevj you are right allmost everyone has spent more than us , if you look at net spend were in for 32.5m deduct 21.0 from sales our net spend has been to date 11m.
The Yanks and Prick Parry will say that they have backed the manager financially, I say what a load of old bollocks, Fulham Sunderland West Brom and Bolton have had more to spend than us.
wait and see....
i am getting news that arse wants alonso. its weather he pays 16mil. alonso has allready agreed terms, now if he does go in time we might still get barry. i know his agent has said he wants to stay this season. but here is the catch he will not talk about a new contract till next season. now we all know next year barry can buy out his contract for about 5mil. has he not said he wants to join lfc? now if you were mon would you take the chance he will sign? no i don,t think so and i think barry will make them pay for putting a stupid price on his head, costing him his dream move. mon must be crapping himself as he could end up with nothink. arogant man yes stupid well we will see. in this world never say never..
Summer Signings what do you think ours are nothing special
We should have bought Barry ( who was in the bag ) and Queresma.
eddie888
a few days to go yet before the window closes.i would have liked kompany he is a good player for 6mil, what city payed for him.i am saving my judgment on the players we have bought, till a few more games have gone. i will give them a chance then judge.i wanted quaresmera but looks like inter have got him.well getting ready for the match now have me dinner then off to the game. lets hope were magic, ynwa..
Rouman
Kompany was the one player I wanted us to buy more than any other last Season, 6m is an absolute steal, I rate the guy the best defender in Europe.
We could have got queresma if we'd really pushed hard enough and Barry couldnt have wanted the move more again we have missed out and look as though were going for a not so good cheaper option.
Enjoy tonight I fancy us to find our form and win 3-0 and I have a sneaky feeling Torres and Keane are going to click into gear tonight.
100% spot on eddie
Your spot on with ur post about our signings 2 date eddie to my knowlege eddie we had a 5m bid for kuyt and rafa turned it down which is a joke why he turned it down is beyond me only rafa can tell u that or maybe he's holding out 4 what he payed 4 him and we both know that will never happen! kuyt, voronin, pennant & alonso are holding us back dearly and as u say ed they are stopping the likes of nemeth, darby, insua etc etc coming through what id like 2 know eddie is when is rafa gonna draw the line with regards to playing crap like kuyt, voronin, pennant etc rafa must be blind or stuck on stupid! no wonder we cant beat the top 3 with the likes of those in our team the likes of fergie must have a good laugh when he sees the likes of kuyt or voronin in our team coz they would never ever get in there team realisticly now ed how do u think we will do in the PL this season i have my opininon but ill keep it 2 myself 4 now.
im sick of us playing sh*t!
Just been watching the first 45 mins of the game and we havent got a fcuking clue what we are doing the midfield is tripping over each other! and how rafa can start with the likes of aurelio and kuyt beggers belief i really think kuyt has something on benitez im just fed up with us playing so crap i dont like our style of play at all at the moment i hope this is rafa's last year coz we seem 2 be getting worse by each game im fcuking sick of it just watching kuyt he makes my fcuking blood boil he's as much use as a choclate fcuking teapot!!!
playing sh@te
totally agree with you kev j, kuyt is worthless but at the moment you cant just blame him because the whole team is crap at the minute, whats fucked us up again this season is our lack of action in the transfer market. we should have had the barry saga sewn up long ago and we should have gone for bentley when he became available but we didnt and now we will pay the price, to be totally honest i think if we go through tonight we will be very lucky because we should have been dead and buried long ago.
We are being out muscled.
Keep the faith people.

worst ive seen us play
That has 2 be the worst we've played 4 a while i didnt think it could get any worse but ive witnessed 2nite it has! what is it with rafa and his below par players kuyt, aurelio, alonso, arbeloa im not giving any player any credit coz they was all shyt. kuyt had a stinker as he always does babel set up the goal but why the fcuk is he on the left side when he's right footed and rafa is suppose to be the professional! its like putting round pegs in 2 square holes! god help us this season! i really cant see it getting any better i got this feeling in my bones that rafa will be out by xmas and if rafa thinks this team is better than last yr then he needs to wake up and smell what he's shoveling! is it me or does it seem the way we play doesnt suit robbie keane? what u think of us so far and can u really see it getting any better soon?
wot a facking joke
dont know abt u lot but wot is most of the team doing??if we keep playing like that i cant c us getting anywhere
again he plays shite then scores the important goal what is he up 2?rafa 2 lick his arse?if it wasnt 4 reina we would av lost the game in the 1st half so well done reina with those magnificent saves
have 2 wait till 2mrw 2c who we face we should av had the penalty
but it was a nail bitting match
i will just finnish off by saying well done 2 leige 4 doing their best

SACK BENITEZ
MY VOTE IS GET RID OF HIM ASAP!!!!
antdanz
i can see its your first time on here so lets give you a run down.we had all this shite last year sack rafa. yes we played shite i was there, but after kicking and screaming, and a few drinks afterwords, i said hey we got though. and we did. what if we played top class and lost? you would still be saying sack rafa. blame the players they are not performing.this lot got us to the semi final last year remember.as for selling riise most people on here wanted that,as for luck i belive you make your own luck. yes we have not played well all season yet were joint top in the prem , and in the c/l i reapeat myself what if we had played well and had won no games? its all about winning and if anyone needs to be sacked its the yanks and parry..we are only a few games into the season patience is a virtue. and this is liverpool..
rafa
SQUARE PEGS AND ROUND HOLES = FAILURE TO PLAY WELL
Rafa Benitez keeps playing players out of position, Right footed players play on the left ( Babel, Bennyoun ) and then we have forwards playing out of position on the wing ( Kuyt ), we also have full backs scared of crossing the halfway line ( Aurelio Arbeloa ) and midfield players playing the ball sideways and backwards like crabs ( Alonso Plessis Lucas ).
Keane
Hi Eddie, I didn't see last nights game (perhaps I was lucky!!) but at least we got the result. I know you and many others are not Kuyt fans but he seems to get us out of the shite very often. However I did see the Middlesborough game and if you are talking about shite, absolute shite, Keane would have had my nomination!! I really hope Rafa has not made yet another epensive mistake. How did he go last night.
George..
Lets wait a few months more and then make our verdict about him, may be till the he'll go back to totenham and get back his scoring boots ;)
come on you lot,,
whats wrong with you lot, yes we played shite i was there.but were still in the c/l joint top in the prem.
Outhought and Outfought
Rafa seems to have this notion of looking at the oppostion with the intent of containing them rather than all out attacking and it just goes to show that sadly we do not have a team and a squad with the quality and guile to do that, this is his make or break season!!!!
carrollmj
we all know we played crap over the 2 legs, but were thrue, did you watch chelsea v wigan? well chelski had 2 shots and scored one wigan had 12 scored none .wigan outplayed them yet still lost. what did they say? its all about winning.... yes my point i have seen l,pool play teams off the park and still lose, arse play will flair what do they win? too many of you are judging far too early, as you said torres was out muscled and is not he a good player? no team yet is flowing ata 100 percent. remember it is a marathon, not a sprint..
Agree Rouman
Stevie G out for Two weeks
Just when you think things can't get any worse I read today that Stevie G is out for Two weeks with a groin op, he will miss the Villa and Man U games.
our team
i agree with u about square pegs and round holes but you have to admit kuyt did play well from start to finish that sort of game you need a tireless hard worker and he did his job . i disagrree in playing him as a right winger but he played well he's a useful squad player.

SO MANY PLAYERS PLAYING BADLY
SHOULD WE REVERT BACK TO ONE UP FRONT ?
Bordeux Psv Athletico Madrid in Champions League
Not a bad draw if you think about it if we play to our capabilities
we should progress to the later stages.
We dont seem to be showing capabilities
We have to shapen up or else we will have a trophyless season again. I for one will not I repeat will not accept that.
We need to contend for the EPL and also fight on all fronts like the bloody rest.
What bugs the living hell out of me is rafas team selection and this crappy zonal marking. I'm not so sure I have faith in his transfer ability either.
Let the players play in the positions they know how. We didnt need keane at all. Put babel back as a striker and thats it. Spend on bloody good wingers not reira ffs.
WHO ARE THE BEST FULL BACKS AT OUR CLUB ?
Finnan is still better than
Finnan is still better than Arbeloa in my eyes. Benitez seems to have cast Finnan out of the squad too and tends to fall out with players we need. Alonso too is now staying and yet the world knows Benitez and him have fallen out and Benitez wants rid of him.
Not the best atmosphere to have with 2 players who should still be in the first 11.
1red1pool
your right about finnan, but once rafa falls out with you its goodbye. i would like darby to be given a go and insua . the reason alonso wants to go is because rafa wants him out. due to him going to spain to his wife , while she gave birth. at the time we had a c/l game , rafa asked him to stay, well you no what he said. i tink keane is trying to hard. and he looks scared, give him time. as far as barry is concered mon thinks he has won but barry won,t sign a new contract and can buy out his contract for 2 mil next year. mon knows this what a fool. because he will end up selling him for less now maybey in jan, he had 15 mil from l,pool i don,t know why he didnot take it. whats the point in having a player who wants to move on? only mon can answer that.
Yeah Rouman, O'Neill was a
Yeah Rouman, O'Neill was a fool.
He won't give the team freedom and that's why we so often look like a team without a clue how to pass and move and create chances.
rouman
yes i also seen that wen sg told kuyt he shit also i saw rafa shouting at kuyt 2 pass the ball
by the way what was all that shouting abt between rafa & the other manager abt?? it was funny lol
julie..
there manager went mad because we never gave them the ball back, when one of there players went down. rafa told the players to play on because there player had dived. when your at a game you see and hear alot more. we were also denied a pen the names they called the ref made me go red.it was a pen thoe.we do need to improve because mon has got it in for us so we have to improve agaist villa on sunday.
1red1pool
ur sooo right but i dont blame crouch 4 leaving as rafa was & still is 2 stubborn always wanting his arse licker on the field instead of bringing on some1 who knows where the net is
and ur right rafa should have a well settled team now after 5 years with us but from me he is no better than houllier.we fans know rafa doesnt give a crap abt any1 but i thought it was funny last night it looked like rafa was getting ready 2 punch the living shit out of leig manager lol
True Julie it looked like he
True Julie it looked like he was going to slap him one like Scolari did to some player months ago. Would have been funny.
The Standard coach, Baloni is his name, was a nutter though. Bit like Martin O'Neill on the touchline or John Aldridge at Tranmere. They'd argue with their shadows when they get pumped up.
