Andriy Voronin has just missed a penalty in the friendly game against Hertha Berlin.
After a dull first half which ended 0-0, Liverpool came out attacking, Voronin got brought and down and stepped up to take the penalty, but his poor spot kick was saved easily.
The line up in full is Cavalieri, Darby, Insua, Agger, Carragher, Plessis, Mascherano, Pennant, Leto, Pacheco, Voronin. Subs: Martin, Dossena, Hyypia, Skrtel, Degen, Benayoun, Kuyt, Spearing, Hobbs.
Hyypia and Dossena have come on for Carragher and Insua.

Good point eddie but what teams would want voronin & kuyt in them apart from us? the reason kuyt is still here is coz no one wants him and plus rafa would rather a marathon runner 2 a goal scorer it was a big mistake getting rid of crouchie id have him 2 voronin & kuyt any day of the week as 4 voronin i hope he is sold soon (any news) he just doesnt have the look of a footballer on him he's more of an ice hockey looking player! and as 4 keane he would be a gr8 addition he would fit in straight away along side torres or just behind, but what the fcuk is goin on with this pissing transfer with barry!!!! he got BOOED to high heaven last night any news on the barry gate guys!

According to SSNEWS 2day rafa has signed a 19 yr old called emanuel mendy and probably that ngog 2 follow and they gonna fight 4 a spot in the reserves
someone plz tell me if im wrong here but shouldnt rafa be concentrating on signings 4 the first team! is he goin 4 the record of the most young players he can buy 4 our reserves we have plenty of quality in the reserves its the first team he needs 2 be focusing on RIGHT or WRONG?
ive also noticed with rafa why does is it we can snap up these unkown youngsters with the click of our fingers but when it comes to the robbie keane's & gareth barry's of this world it takes an eternity 2 sort it out!

Benitez Transfer recold and his bugetry constraints
Before you start to analyse Benitez's transfer recold you have to take into consideration the team he inherited, which in my opinion was VERY POOR. He has had to rebuild the side.
In general Benitez has had as many success stories as he has had failures, he usually ships out his failures fairly quickly, and has made a profit on a number of players. He has also had to work under bugetry constraints, Liverpool lack the spending power of Chelsea and Man Utd.
I am going to list the players I feel have been successful and flops :

Torres - Reinna - Mascherano - Garcia ( sold too soon ) - Skrtel - Agger
Flops
Moreintes - Nunez(FREE) - Josemi - Krolkamp - Gonzalez - Bellemy - Pennant - Kuyt - Voronin(FREE) - Aurelio - Zenden(FREE)

Arbeloa (has potential) - Bennyoun(has potential just lacks consistancy) - Alonso( we should have sold him at a profit to Juventus) - Crouch (given a raw deal) - Babel (early days has everthing to become a success either plays well or dreadfull)Lucas (jury is out could go either way).
Compared to other managers his transfer recold staks up fairly well, he has bought some duds but he has sold a number of them at a profit ie Bellamy, Sissoko,Carson,most of his big signing have been a success, budgetry constraints have often left him to buy a lesser option. Had Benitez had the wealth of Chelsea or Manchester Utd better quality players would have been signed.
As much as I critisize Benitez re his rotational policy and negative tactics, I feel his transfer recold in general is pretty good, he has also invested a lot of money revamping our Reserves and Youth teams, and hopefully we will reap the dividends from those signings over the next few years.
This summers activity has been based on even tougher bugetry constraints, had we the same spending power of Chelsea and Man Utd I feel sure that we would have signed David Villa, I just hope that we have enough money to buy Barry and Keane because without that class of player we cannot expect any real improvement next Season. It's a sad statement to make but top class players cost top dollar and at the moment we only have loose change.

We all know the truth that Rafa has never been given proper financial backing and has managed pretty well even without $$$$
He has shipped out as quickly as possible all useless players. EXCEPT one Dirk shyt.
But even though i got so enormously angry when i hear he has signed another youngster rather than signing a top quality player, i got the feeling he can emulate what Ferguson has done at Old Trafford, Ferguson ruled the EPL for 10 years with players he brought in the reserves in his early days..
Nowadays any player price can go up unbelievingly, so the best way is to spot them when they are still tender and nurture them.
Hope we won't need to wait too much, and we get the 19th cup this season.
And just like u and everybody i hope fingers crossed that we get Barry and Keane, we desesperately need them.

The reason Rafa hasnt sold him is that he is playing so poorly no one would offer a decent price for him. He cost us 10m and we will more than likely make a huge loss on him. You are correct with you observation that he plays better in the Champions League than the Premier. We just need to hope that some mug comes along with a 6-7m bid or that he could be used as a bargaining tool in a swap deal.
As you say in one of your previous posts what chance is there of him scoring 5 Premiership Goals this Season ? Sums up why he shouldnt be in the team.I think he should only come on as a sub in the last 15-20 minutes when other players have tired. He has energy and fuck all else.Both him and Voronin are a joke so much so they wouldnt shine in the Championship. The sooner we get rid of these Two clowns the better. Equally it was sad to see us sign another so called striker today with a recold played 19 scored 1, what is it with Benitez buying strikers hat cannot score ? unless he is considering playing Ngog on the wing where he can use his pace.

Our signings so far have hardly been Earth Shattering have they ? We have spent 11.5m on four players and got one freebie, Dossena looks a capable full back , we needed cover for Reinna, but weve hardly made top quality signings ? with no dis respect to the player we have signed they will hardly make a difference to us making a Premiership challenge.
We need some class, or are we so skint that we cannot even attempt to buy anyone costing more than a couple of milllion ?

Rafa is a master of doing without superstars but part of me thinks maybe he doesnt want to invest in big transfer deals because then he will become the ire of criticism if he fails to deliver. At least without investing greatly in quality, he has an 'excuse' if things go pear-shaped... Right or wrong here, he will be given the season to improve on 4th place in the EPL. If things do not improve he will be gone - guaranteed. Yanks wont need too much of an excuse! Rafa want a swap deal involving Finnan + 15 million for barry, so why the fcuk don't he just pay the sum Villa want and then sell the player (finnan) to other clubs untill he balance the sheet!!! You are spot on in everything you say , signing Barry should be a doddle pay the fee they demand, then sell Pennant Finan and Voronin.
Re using the youngsters if your good enough your old enough, with 7 subs this year one or two may get a chance. Players like Insua and Nemeth should be classed as first team players plus if Arbeloa goes why not give Darby a run at right back ? we have all these promising youngstersyet play none of them, where as Arsenal do the complete opposite.
