Espanyol winger Albert Riera has confirmed he wants to join Liverpool this summer.

Riera has reportedly been a target of Rafael Benitez, and now the Spanish left winger has spoke up, saying he would be mad to turn down a move to Anfield should the opportunity arise: “I know English football and it is an attractive option for players,”

“If Espanyol do finally receive an offer I do not want to miss the opportunity to go to Liverpool. The option to join a super-club doesn’t come every day.

“I am a realistic person but this has given me something to look forward to. To reject the possibility of a move would be madness.”

Riera has played in the Premiership before, in 2005 he was on loan at Manchester City where he scored 1 goal in 15 appearances.
