Crouchie heaps praise on Jermaine after Birmingham performance

Peter Crouch has hailed Jermaine Pennant's influence on the game against Birmingham after Liverpool fought from 2-0 down to finish the game 2-2.

Pennant terrorised the Birmingham defence throughout the game, and was one of Liverpool's better perfomers in a game that saw the Reds go 2-0 down.

"Jermaine Pennant was excellent, absolutely fantastic,Every time he got the ball he created something.

"It makes a centre forward's job much easier when the likes of Jermaine is playing so well because you know he his going to get at the full back and invariably get his cross in.
"That's what I love. It's great when wingers do that."

Crouch also added that Rafa's second half tactics got Liverpool back into the game : The manager changed things slightly with Yossi going more central and getting a bit closer to me and I think that worked a lot better for us," he said.

"I think it was also a case of a few players upping their game and because of that we played much better as a team.

"We have to be pleased with the result in the end because we gave ourselves an awful lot to do by going two goals behind but we stuck at it and in the end we could have gone on to win the game.

"In the second half we showed what we can do and if there is a disappointment it's that we didn't start the game the way we finished it.

"I was really pleased to score because it got us back into the game and from that point on we took control and fully deserved the equaliser at the very least."

"Whenever I do play I always feel confident that I will get a goal and thankfully that proved to be the case against Birmingham."
