Arsenal outplayed us for the first 20 mins. Gerrard, alonso and mascherano didnt even turn up. The whole team seemed to forget that Arsenal need to be closed down to stop them passing like they did.
It's obvious Rafa told them this at half time, because we were a different side - even Alonso made an effort !

Rather than starting personal insults, just take it as the joke it was meant as. Everyone is making out like this is the first time anyone has ever rubbed a result into the opposition afterwards. If you go on any generic football forum you will see fans from both teams arguing over the result.

My personal opinion on the game is as follows; the way Arsenal played at the start i thought Liverpool were going to get stuffed. It was only when we got a goal that we got back into the game in terms of possession, there were still times when Arsenal went forward that was reminiscent of Barcelona v Liverpool years ago, when they passed the ball round for ages before scoring; however Liverpool still got forward well, although we didn't have the clear cut chances like Adebayor had, but we still got shots away from the likes of Aurelio and Gerrard.

In the second half, we deserved that second goal. We had alot more of the ball after that, then Theo Walcott tore us to pieces before settting up Adebayor. This still left 7/8 mins PLUS injury time for either side to get a goal. Liverpool were going forward still , and yeah we may have been fortunate with the decision considering Hleb's wasnt given the previous week, but throughout the season decisions will go both for and against EVERY team.

The way everyone has reacted is odd, like i said earlier, there is no way you can guarantee Arsenal would have held out against us? Flamini (who has been one of Arsenal's best performers this season) had gone off earlier in the game, so there was a blow for the Gooners. There's no guarantee Liverpool would have scored, but we had the momentum to keep going forward; it was from a Liverpool attack that Walcott got the ball before running the length of the pitch before setting up Adebayor.

ziggy maximus at the emirates you had 11 shots on goal with only 5 on target, we had 4 altogether all of which were on target. At Anfield we had 9 shots on goal, you had 6. So all together you had 4 shots more over 2 legs. I've watched the second leg 3 times now once at the stadium, twice from sky plus, i'm aiming for 6 as its become a bit of a superstition. I advise you watch the second leg again, once we equalised we dominated the game and Arsenal resorted to kicking the ball anywhere as they couldn't deal with the pressure coming from all angles of anfield.

i fink liverpool's gonna overcome chelsea over ze 2 legs.Chelsea's style is easier for us to cope with than Arsenal's. It is more predictable, less fluid and slower. As stated above they don't look anywhere near as dangerous as they did under Mourhino. Their defence is not as formidable as it used to be and Terry is looking pedestrian. We haven't looked in danger against them for a while now.
Remember this - When you can cope with Arsenal 3 times in one week, then Chelsea are minor in terms of football class.

At the end of the day all the big boys are through to the semi finals. If Arsenal supporters were able to generate any kind of atmosphere at the Emirates then perhaps the ref would have bowed to the pressure and given them a pen in the 1st leg. What a great 2 legs, We lost but we have nothing to be ashamed of. We played great football and for the rub of the green we may have been playing chelscum. Both teams contributed to 2 great legs. This game would have been worthy of the final. But lets be honest the semi final won't be worth watching for a neutral because both teams will be there usual negative self.

It was a foul ny fabregas, causing babel to lose his balance into Toure who tried to get out of the way fearing the worst. THe only problem is that Fabregas was outside the box. Correct decsion would be direct free kick yellow to fabregas.

Key incident in the game was not the penalty, but Gerrard accidentally catching flamini late leading to his substitution and the very professional but infinitely less effective gilberto.

The reason arsenal lost the tie is that they never manged to hold onto the lead - in spite of all the glorious football, they conceded a goal to us quickly everytime they scored.

Regardless of whether it was a penalty (i think it was, but hey) - at 2-2 you thought you'd won (Adebeyor doing his little dance) and switched off.

Rafa had a tactic he knows nobody in the prem can play football like arsenal so why try your just goin to get outplayed! So what did we do? Passion for the game - but why go out and slag off other teams, especially if (as in this case) decisions were made by the ref. I watched both games and replayed both incidents a few times. Two different refs and my opinion both were penalties- the only difference is that Hleb seemed to have fell too easily.
As a Liverpool fan i appreciate Arsenal's presence, flair and quality in the league-no doubt most enjoyable team to watch. Liverpool have an aurra especially on European nights and no other team compares to the Anfield crowd especially on those special occasions.
The fact is Liverpool won. Yes Arsenal played superb first 25mins but after that it could have been anyones.
Lets not criticise where the teams are and who is the better. Recent stats at the end of each season that Arsenal have ended up below Liverpool in the past 2 seasons and Arsenal have won nothing whereas Liverpool have the FA Cup and European Cup - also managed to reach the final of Champions league last year.

Arsenal are destined to win something soon and they deserve it - but lets not get carried away each season and then run out of steam.

Sure! Arsenal should have been awarded a penalty in the first leg, but that doesn't make the referees decision in the second leg any less of a penalty.

And even if Arsenal had gotten a penalty in the first leg, would they have scored? Pepe is a great penalty stopper and the only of Arsenals players that would have the nerves to take such a penalty is van Persie and he was subbed at the time.

To all that say that it wasn't fair on Arsenal I would like to say this. Football isn't always fair. If it had been, then we would have beaten all of Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea at home this season, but that wasn't the case. What goes around comes around.

It seems to me Hicks will be in charge next season too which begs the question how much money will Benitez have to spend in the summer? Another run to the Champions League semi-final surely means a lot of cash. If we make the final that'll be 3 in 4 seasons (amazing) which means not many more clubs in Europe can have earned more from the most lucrative competition in club football than Liverpool FC.

Add to this the fact that the difference in money between winning the Prem and coming 3rd or 4th isn't massive then you wonder why we seem to have constant money problems to buy top players.

We should be able to afford a new star name every season. If we want to win the league next season we need to spend at least 60-70 million in the summer on 3-4 top class players.
