Transfer Speculation : Rafinha - Who is he?

If you beleive the latest transfer speculation, then Liverpool are after Schalke 04 right back Rafinha, but does anyone know anything about him?

Schalke paid just 5 Million Euros to sign Rafinha from Coritiba in 2005 after being spotted in the World Youth Championship in Holland.

He plys his trade at right back, and already has Champions League experience playing for Schalke 04, where he has made 105 appearances in total, scoring 5 goals. 83 of those games were in the Bundesliga, scoring 4 goals, the other 22 in the Champions League; where he has found the net once.

Rafinha played for 4 Brazilian clubs before joining Schalke:

1992-1997 Gremio Londrina (BRA)
1997-2001 P.S.T.C. (BRA)
2001-2002 Londrina Junior Team (BRA)
2002-2005 Coritiba FC (BRA).

According to Schalke's official website, his contract runs until 2011, but the 21 year old was recently quoted as saying : "Liverpool is a top destination, If a move would suit Schalke as well as myself, we can discuss it."

However, Schalke are reluctant to sell, and if he were to sign, he faces competition from the likes of Finnan and Arbeloa for a place in the starting 11.

Rafinha

I would rather see us buy Boswinga from Porto. I think he played with lots of pace and strength against us in the CL. I saw Rafinha play against Barca recently and was not impressed. Perhaps he had a bad day.

hey, you know what? i think rainha is a good player 4 his age...he played his role as a right back very well 4 schalke and he will be even better 4 LIVERPOOL...every player know when they are playing 4 LIVERPOOL, they need to show their quality and work hard 4 the team..so, i think benitez make the right choice if rafinha is signed 4 LIVERPOOL...

I rate is best signing if we can get him out from schalke,his CV begin to impress but is good to see his age also,rafa will all out to this guy looking forwward for top defender and brake brazil squad..
