Every time I log to this website I see lots and LOTS of complaining, moaning, crying out loud, screaming Rafa this Rafa that, Kuyt this Kuyt that... Sure Kuyt looks crap if you want him to score goals, but he's assigned to creatve havoc with his endless runs, so that others like Torres and Gerrard can benefit from the spaces created... he's not my favorite player, and I'm not defending him... God knows that I don't like the fact that he wasted endless chances for us all this season, but he does his job in this TEAM-FORMATION... he's not a star, neither is Mascherano. Javier and Kuyt run the runs, defence blocks the balls, Alonso to spray the balls, Gerrard to work free in the oppositions area and Babel and Torres to use their paces upfront and make chances count.

Crouch needs to start, and I certainly like the lad, but if he replaces Kuyt, then Gerrard will be shifted to the right to take control of the area insted of Crouch, which will keep him only behind Torres, and create further space in the middle for oppositions to come to. Alonso and Mascherano will have to step forward a bit, and let the defence a bit more exposed which gives oppositions more space to create chances from near our defence!

Many of you won't like the idea, but Kuyt keeps the balance of this formation together, and the only one who can take his place is Gerrard at the moment, which is why Rafa is looking for others in that position like David Bentley from Blackburn, who can operate as a Right-attacking Midfielder

The fact that everybody looks at Kuyt as a "striker" implies them to thinking that he's only here to score goals, more like Cisse when he was deployed on the right hand side!... but Kuyt's position in the Dutch National is a free player between Midfield and Attack to keep the strikers busy upfront and keep the midfielders able to play their game... if you look at him from this corner you'll think that he's a good player and feel a lot better about it, but if you keep thinking that he's a striker and better score goals every time he plays, then surely you'll join the brigade here on this website!!!

It's a team effort, not an individuals collective effert. If you want individuals to perform for you, go support the Galacticos of Real Madrid, or the new egos at Barcelona, they should make you feel better, at least you'll see familiar faces there when you cheer next to moaners who'll call it "Crisis" when their team is a few points behind the leader!!!

I'm not defending Kuyt mate, I'm actually not prefering him at all, BUT for the time being with the formation we're playing, he's keeping more balance than Pennant would be able to. Pennant has more pace than Kuyt, and I'd like to see him get a run more than the dutch, but Pennant can't run the whole game like Kuyt.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not with Kuyt for any matter, and I hope Rafa brings Bentley in the summer to get this guy out, but as it stands, and with the results we had, he helped the team more often, if the formation was the usual 4-4-2, Crouch would be my preference as he showed he can play well next to Torres against Sunderland when all 2 with Gerrard scored the goals that night.

This formation requires more into it, haven't you noticed that he along side Babel drag down and have some defensive duties to do, especially when the opposition has the ball? Kuyt isn't a striker in the first place, he was at Feyenoord becuase they didn't have much of an option but him upfront, whereas him, along side Voronin are playing between midfield and attack for their national teams anyways. I won't call them centre forwards or strikers, they are attacking midfielders. I don't like both of them to be honest, you get a lot of hope that one of them will and should score, but they don't, and when we have and give that impression, they look more and more worrying infront of goal.

Rafa might keep him in the side for next season, he can do a job if recalled, but I'm like you, I wish he doesn't merit a space in the side much more than this one, he's played around 38 times this season already

It's a team's game, not individuals... Apparently you haven't read what I typed TWICE already that I'M NOT A FAN OF KUYT... is that much clearer now!

I support Liverpool FC, the 11 men that don the Red shirt are what I support, be it Kuyt, Gredlock, big foot, barbie.. I don't care ... and you have to keep that in mind, cause a team's effort is what makes individuals like Gerrard and Torres shine.

Whatever you might say would change this aspect of my mind, and I hope you GET IT when after 3 times saying that I'm not defending Kuyt I'm defending the team's new formation which has worked to perfection in handling each of our best players to their best capabilities.

I appreciate that, but I don't want Kuyt to stay... I'd rather have Pennant upfront, but Pennant's only problem is the legs to run for 90 minutes. I'd like to see Bentley instead of Kuyt up there, that would make the team formidable. Babel will shine next season for sure, Lucas still confuses me, and kuyt does my head in, but I try to look at what Benitez is trying to do with the team selections rather than listen to everyone at times, he's the manager for a reason I believe!

I'd love to see Bentley come in the summer, he'll add a better service than Kuyt in the right attack, we may see Pennant move the other way, but who cares!

although Pirlo is good, but I rate Alonso more to be honest... I'd rather keep Alonso than get Pirlo. Age wise Alonso is much better as he can stay for a longer period than Pirlo can do!

If we can come away from the Emirates with a good result a win draw or score draw then we really have a great chance of going through. The first leg is so very important. For my beloved club, Liverpool FC to regain ultimate supremacy in England and to win the well overdue Premier title, this summer’s signings must be right on cue. Just like Benitez discovered Torres (El Nino), the scouting staff must do same for three important positions. Position1 - Ronaldhino must be secured to help our midfield General (Captain Marvel, Gerald). It seems to me that Yossi Benayoun has faded towards the end of the season and although Xebi has recovered well from his injuries, I think he makes too many mistakes. It’s unfortunate to see Momo Sissoko go. He should have been kept; period! So Ronaldhino should be brought in to control the midfield with the hardworking Javier Mascherano in order to free up Gerald whose work ethics and partnership with the front is exemplary and much better than the vaunted and arrogant Ronaldo (Man U)and Rooney/Tarvez.
Position2. We need two more top notch strikers; one being athletically strong and PROLIFIC (someone who is capable of scoring more goals than misses from chances created). The second striker must be pretty fast. William Defoe readily comes to mind. Anybody cast in the mold of William Dafoe, Wayne Rooney, Tarvez, David Suazo (Inter Milan),our own Michael Owen and how about this Ghanaian playing for Nottingham Forest, Junior Agogo. He has very strong upper body and works very hard in a team setting. Yet still a young star from Brazil or Argentina like AC Milan has gotten the young Brazilian, Pato, Barcelona has gotten Krkic Perez Bojan, who scored the goal against Schalke04, or Walcott of Arsenal fame. And what about looking around the Liverpool youth team and drafting a promising, courageous youngster to play in the senior team. What that does is that, Liverpool would be creating her own legendary star instead of buying one from somewhere. Ryan Giggs of Man U fame comes to mind. Position3 - Defense. Our defense is often too erratic for my liking. Look at the first two of the three goals we conceded against our arch rival, Man U. Is Pepe Rena too short a goalkeeper as he continually misses high floated balls? If so let's get someone taller for crucial matches against our top three rivals. Even if Liverpool can't win the Premier title at the moment, let us put a complete stop to losing to the top three. As supporters of this great club, we take great joy in vanquishing our rivals, notably, Man U. Going on with the defense; we need a couple guys as resolute as Jamie Carragher and Sammi Hyypia. I think both these players have done a wonderful job at the back but they're getting to a point where they’ll need someone like Skrtel (not once in a while good performance, but to be ruthless the entire time, yet still not making silly mistakes). I don't have anybody particular for this position. However, I have to say that we also need a player who can win matches for us from set pieces, on a regular basis. Gerald does it but not on regular bases like Pirlo of AC Milan or David Beckham in him Man U days, or Ryan Giggs or recall our own famous John Barnes. Such a player can turn games in our favor even when we are not performing particularly well. One last suggestion; I think it will be a positive step for Liverpool to engage all the old players during Liverpool's dominant era (1980-1990) in a forum to discuss how they did it. This will be a lesson to the current squad. The likes of Peter Beardsley, John Barnes, Ian Rush, John Aldridge, to mention but a few (who came after Kenny Dalglish's era) including Kenny himself, play with passion and the belief that they're playing in a great team and winning is the only outcome in any match. Man U has got that air of authority about them from Cantona and Peter Schmichael's time. Now it is even more obvious and some players, notably, Chritiano Ronaldo are even showing some arrogance and disrespect to other teams with cheeky footwork. I personally don't blame Christiano Ronaldo as I truly enjoy stylish football when I see one. However, almost all Man U players believe that no team in the Premier League can dominate them and even if they are occasionally defeated, it's a fluke; a once in a while shortcoming, which they'll overcome by trouncing the next opponent. That's how Liverpool was under Kenny Dalglish who rarely shows any emotions regardless of the situation. This was when John Barnes & Co ruled English Football. I am appealing to all who are attached to Liverpool to do anything possible to bring those days back. I cannot continue to see Liverpool achieve mediocre status in the Premier League anymore. We are doing very well in Europe, granted, but we as supporters want the team to conquer the teams that are our sworn enemies. We lagged behind for much too long. So over to you Rafa, I know and most other supporters know that you have done tremendously well since coming to the club, by leading us to win the European cup which put Liverpool in a special club with Real Madrid and AC Milan as the three best, all time in Europe. However, please note that we have a place in English football; we want to think of ourselves as the best in England, not Man u as some ignorant supporters will have it. We want the dominance back. You are leading us once again to the cup and God willing, we'll annex it again this year even though most pundits are writing us off again like they did in 2005 to their own chagrin, preferring Man U instead.
Soon after we win this year's Euro, please concentrate on the Premier for the next few years to bring ultimate joy to us the supporters, you and the entire Liverpool populace. Contrary to the hue and cry of people disgusted about your rotation system I like it and I think it has chalked most of the successes in Europe. My two disappointments with your style was when you did not utilize Jibril Cisse in his preferred position and rather constantly played him on the wings which caused him to underperform - - ----(please do not repeat same with Ryan Babel as he can do even better than his left wing position), and your getting rid of your Spanish compatriot, Luis Garcia. These two players truly loved Liverpool yet they're no longer there. But I am thankful you corrected that misstep by bringing in El Nino. Find a couple more such players in the various positions I mentioned and we can win the premier and Europe as well as a few domestic cups like it was during Kenny Dalglish's time, as pointed out by the great Ian Rush in his recent article, comparing Torres to Dalglish. Anybody out there that may be offended by any part of this long discussion of mine should pardon me as I do this out of the love I have for Liverpool FC.
