Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez reacted angrily to suggestions that Liverpool would be in a better position had Fernando Torres played every game, claiming it is a great lie.
Torres was injured in the Arsenal game which ruled him out for a while, and sat out 2 games, but that has not stopped some 'journalists' having a dig at Rafa by saying his star striker could have played more.
Answering the suggestion that Liverpool would still be in the title hunt had Torres played more, Rafa replied : "That has been one of the great lies of this season. There are a lot of people that talk without having thought things through about the number of games Torres has played and the impact that this has had on our performance in the league. Torres did not take part in the victorious games against Toulouse [4-0], Besiktas [8-0] and Havant & Waterlooville [5-2].
He didn't make the bench in eight games; for six of these he was injured, which seems to be something that people forget. The other two games were in the FA Cup and Carling Cup, so the theory about our position in the league being down to Torres being missing doesn't add up .

Surprise Me Please!
No one commented on this one yet?!!!... No one said why Rafa didn't play Torres earlier yet?!!! I can't believe it, really?
Torres made an overall 39 appearances all season, considering we have played 49 games, means 11 games he was out of them, of which "eight" as Rafa indicated were on his injury, which leaves you to 2, which were in the Carling Cup and the League Cup!!!
I knew many would question what Benitez is doing, but he actually relied on Torres upfront more than any one else, and the return speaks for it self, no wonder Crouch is out of the side! Who would you keep in this side, Crouch who at his very best last season scored 18 goals in all competitions, or Torres who looks like scoring everytime he gets the ball?!!!
Torres is the perfect striker for modern Liverpool, and he'll only get better and better, mark my word.
