It's the same story every season with Benitez and it won't change next year either. Ferguson has his measure in the league and it's obvious to anyone. Our record against them is getting very embarrassing and not even scoring a single goal makes it pathetic. They look technically, and mentally, superior all the time.

If Benitez beats Arsenal in Europe his job would be secure for another year. If he loses to Arsenal he should be sacked in the summer. He is not capable of winning the Premier League over an entire season and will prove it again next year if he is still there.

Having woken up with a hangover from hell, having gone on the lash after our dreadfull performance at Old Trafford yesterday what can be said.

Firstly we were lucky not to have lost 5-0 Reinna made 3 or 4 superb saves whilst in a one on one situation.

Secondly Mascherano deserved to be sent off , he seemed to be hell bent on augueing with the ref , why he got involved god only knows especially considering all the publicity about giving referees respect , playing with Ten men against Man U is comitting football suicide. He may get clobbered by the FA, which could cost us dearly. Idiot.

Thirdly did Van der sar have a save to make ? other than a couple of Stevie G shots what else did we do ?

So many players played poorly, I've never seen Reinna kick so badly, we seemed incapable in dealing with crosses and were exposed in the centre of our defence, Carragher looked clumsy and slow throughout, Babell may as well have been down the pub with me he was that bad, I have concerns about his ability , he doesnt look to be worth £12 let alone 12m. Kuyt did bugger all, Aurelio was poor yet again, Alonso ( was he playing ?), Torres was isolated and didnt get much protection from the ref.

NOBODY PLAYED WELL.

It hurts me to say it but Man U thouroughly deserved there victory and we were lucky not to have conceded more.

Where this leaves us I do not know, but one thing is certain we ae not anywhere near good enough to win the Premiership, a major sort out in the Summer is required.

I have just watched the game for a second time, and the conclusion was how lucky we were not to have conceded 5 or more , Pepe Reinna made four absolutely outstanding saves, he may have been at fault for one or two of the United goals but he saved us from a real drubbing.
Also Mascherano lost the plot , he was so wound up , he just kept on and on at referee Bennett, so bloody stupid. There is no way you can keep argueing with the referee , someone needed to calm him down. I just hope the FA don't end up giving him a further 2 or 3 match ban.

I love Carra, but he makes it very hard for us to play possession football, if every time he receives the ball he just hoofs it, you can’t even call it a long ball, your then relying on one of the front 3 miraclessly pulling it out of the air and laying it to someone else who is probably 20 yards anyway (quite hard with Rio kicking and stamping on you oblivious to Gordon Bennett). Agger may not be a die hard defender like Carra but he can play long and short and may produce a good partnership once Skrtel settles down. (Sorry I’m not ranting about Rafa, the Yanks or Kuyt, but it bores me now, nothing will happen until ownership is sorted).

I think our biggest problem the last few years is we lack the determination to challenge for the title. The players, manager and too many fans - like Paul Tomkins -talk about constant rebuilding. Every year it's the same story if only we had this guy, or that guy and next year we'll have more experience. Carragher is nearly 30 and Gerrard is 28. They don't have so many years left and who will replace their influence on the club?

I think this constant rebuilding is horseshit. There's enough quality in the current Liverpool team to be closer to the top of the table if we were doing things properly behind the scenes. The problem is we give up too easily in the league, throw in the towel and talk about next season and how unfair it is ManUre have so much money. There's a defeatist attitude at Anfield in the league, not helped by the manager always talking about the money ManUre spend to hide his own failings as a manager.

We haven't challenged for the league under Houllier or Benitez, both foreign managers who don't play football the Liverpool way. They're too cautious and too rigid
in their management. More afraid to lose than having the balls to go out and win.

We may not spent as much as ManUre or Chelski, but we spend as much as most other clubs in Europe. And the least we can expect is a title challenge after so long. Benitez will talk endless shit like Houllier before him because he doesn't want the sack. But he needs to know next season we don't want to hear anymore of his fucking excuses. He either does the business and gets us very close to the title or he takes his nonsense-talk about "controlling the game but couldn't score" back to Spain.

I am beginnig to hate him like I hated Houllier in the end because he will try to convince everyone he has some grand plan for success when in reality he hasn't a fucking clue how to win the Premier League title.

Hi,im a ManU fan, but i watch Liverpool since winter, becose you have Skrtel now, and im too from Slovakia. He is first player from Slovakia, who play for a big club. I had turn off my TV at half time, cos it was a real loss for game.(I went rather watch a 5. league match in our village and you should know that our 1. league is a shit - so you can imagine what a football was this.

In second place the player didnt have his day, nobody played in his best. Gerard was alone in the middle. Alonso was great in last season but he looks, that he lost all magic of his game today. In first 11 is 3 or 4 players off-form. I think kuyt is your worse player every game. He cant score, assist and he has no pace. Crouch would be a better partner for Torres. It is truth that you need a new players(Stiker and RW) but certainly not Quaresma, his second name is Selfisman and is overrated. I think that is the reason, why dont buy him the big clubs yet. Yes, his trickery is amazing, but with no results. And finaly thank to god that Gerard has no injury.

There is a lot of speculation regarding Riise and Alonso , I hope its true as neither player has really done a great deal for two seasons or so. I would expect Alonso to fetch 12-15m and Riise 6m . Neither player would be greaty missed.

Benitez might prefer Real Madrid but Barce are tempting too Rouman when you look at their players. Any manager would fancy winning trophies with Messi, Ronaldinho, Henry. But Rijkaard won two league titles and the European Cup and plays excellent football but is still likely to get the sack this summer so I can't see Benitez lasting too long there if he got the job.

Would he do so well in the Champions League if he was the favourite to win it and all the pressure that comes with being favourite? Benitez loves being the underdog and we are ALWAYS underdogs against big teams in Europe. He doesn't react so well when we're favourites against the lesser lights in the Prem like Wigan and Birmingham. As for his style of football, I think the Barce fans would not accept defensive football - and Benitez is defensive most of the time.

Riise is a spent force at Anfield. It's a pity because although he was never good enough with the ball in terms of passing, he used to be defensively solid for us. Alonso doesn't contribute enough for us and should be sold for a good price. He will do well back in Spain with more freedom to play but under Rafa he has become stale.

But we don't want no Ruben de la Red at Anfield. Top clas Spanish players are fine but not 2nd raters.

And if Benitez leaves, what happens to all these youth level foreign players he brought to the club for fees? I think Liverpool should have a chief of youth development with overall control of young players being bought because if you leave it to the manager and he leaves then you're stuck with a load of youth players the new manager might not rate. We had this problem with all the young French players Houllier bought thay had to be gotten rid of - at a financial loss.

Alonso played so well in his First season but has totally gone off the boil, under different circumstances I would say we should keep him , but if a bid of 12m - 15m came in, the way his playing I reckon we should let him go.
Riise has been a great player for us but again he hasnt played well for ages if a decent bid came in we'd be stupid not to accept.

Equally I don't know much about Del a Red like you say what a great name, he is getting his First cap for Spain tonight.

Re Robbie Keane he is a vastly underated player, my best mate is a huge Spurs fan a season ticket holder, and allways has good things to say about him. He is very good at linking up play and scores more than his fair share.

Robbie Keane does great for Spurs but he is often shit for Ireland, even though he's our record top scorer. I don't think he would be able to handle the pressure to perform every week at Anfield. But he's better that the list of 2nd rate strikers we have had in recent years no doubt.

Seeing Mickey Owen still scoring for Newcastle makes it a great pity he isn't still at Anfield being supplied by Gerrard. Owen could still do the business at Anfield. He is running down his contract at Newcastle so we could get him in the summer with Crouch or Kuyt offered in exchange.

AC Milan are willing to take Shevchenko back with open arms yet Owen is treated as a traitor at Anfield. Yet Owen only left Anfield to go to Real Madrid to play with Zidane, Ronaldo, Figo, Raul - every player's dream - while Shevchenko went to London for money.
