I predicted it when everybody was moaning... and i'll come back again in the forum later about that. We have a squad worth 90 millions built in four years by Rafa that was beaten by Barnsley, But Chelsea has a squad built from 200 millions in two years beaten by that Chmpionship side!! I can't find the post in which i predicted that, i'll try later, But the Championship side simply seems to be more hardworking and lucky.

Criticalmind, your points are stupid. Chelsea lost to Barnsley because their manager isn't good enough for the job and will be sacked in the summer unless he wins the Champions League or league. If anything the Barnsley-Chelsea result shows you what happens when the wrong manager is in charge. Would Chelsea have lost under Mourinho with the same players? No they wouldn't, nor did they lose to a lower league team in the FA Cup with Mourinho.
We drew at Portsmouth because we DROPPED out two best players on the day for no reason but our manager's obsession with tinkering. That's why people were angry at the result.
We haven't even secured FOURTH yet Criticalmind and you are going on like anyone who has no faith in Benitez is a moaner. I'd hold your horses til the season ends and see where we finish or your opinions will be going in reverse, again.
And any fan not sickened with fighting for 4th has become too used to seeing the title go to Old Trafford or London.

Really, trying to defend our poor league season - out of the title race at Christma - is a joke. Arsenal might not win the league, but no one was laughing at them by Christmas for being blown out of the title race.

I just wanna point out that we are not the only one improving, other team also try to change things positively and invest, like Portsmouth has improve their defence playing 10 players behind the ball, like barnsley playing defending as awall in their own half, i don't know how liverpool fans can revere a chelski reject so much.

If we were in their position in the league we wouldn't be so angry at losing an FA Cup game either. The fact we were already long ago out of the title race is what made the FA Cup game so bitter.

I agree Criticalmind, we have to hope for the best next season and that we reach another Champions League final this year, and secure 4th.
But you also have to be realistic, and unless we spend at least 50-60 million in the summer no one will be betting on us to win the title next year. And even with that money we don't know if Benitez can win it. We should be a lot closer than we are this season if he hadn't blown it on us.
And it has nothing to do with newspapers. If you never read a newspaper it wouldn't change the results and performances of the team this season, would it? People are annoyed by the way the title challenge fell apart by Christmas after spending over 40 million in the summer. The newspapers are not to blame for that.

I'm not so sure we'll get that amount of money to spend even if DIC buys, but thats whre Rafa is efficient, he negotiates players for good price just like torres.
Anyway, we never knows where we can be unlucky, may be perhaps if the tinkerman would have not rested our players and get Torres injured, we could have had been in the same situation... its most of the time like this you improve something somewhere else goes wrong.
Few years ago Rafa built a solid rock defensive record, superb home record last year but we were having problems scoring goals, this year we've had problems with our defence, now it seems to be ok, even the goals seems to be flowing now..lets hope no more inhibition comes around.. we already saw a glimpse when mascherano was took off the west ham match, just think of that scenarion with torres, thats horrible to think.
We spent 40 millions last summer, but the three clubs above us have spent also, we can't really take that as an argument.
