Manchester United have trumped Liverpool for teenage prospect Scott Wootton.

The more I hear about Hicks the bigger and arshole he becomes, he is now saying that he can stop Gilet from selling his shares to DIC. I find it hard to believe that that would be so, he may have first refusal but I cannot see how a bueinessman like Gillet would have agreed such a deal.

It would sound as if there is only an element of truth in Hick's statement that he can prevent Gillet from selling his 50% share to DIC. Apparently this clause may only last 90 days, then Gilet would be free to do as he wishes.

Hicks does however have first option to buy Gillets 50& for himself, wether he could raise the finance to do so is another question.

Hicks is proving to be a real pain in the arse from DIC'S point of view , and if were not careful they may well just walk away from any further negoitions. We have to hope otherwise.

So we have finally secured Mascherano on a Four year deal total cost 18.5m , a superb signing at a high price , but Masch is only 23 and every club in Europe was interested in him, he is one of the best holding midfieders in the World, and his performances this season have been superb. Gerrard and Mascherano should be mainstays in our midfield for years to come.

The signing of Mascherano is good news although it is a lot of money in my opinion.
Be careful what you wish for - the long running "dislike" of each other between Benitez and Gerrard ain't over yet. Read both their books and you can feel the tension - Stevie has hardly backed the Rafa regime recently. The Mascherano signng means Gerrard is destined for the right hand side of midfield "permanent" under Benitez. If Gerrard can accept it and I'm sure he will for the club:
