You ar eincredibley lenient on Dire. He is just pathetically out of his depth at PL level. Basically he is very slow, both across th eground, and he has "slow feet"...thats why so many of his shots and crosses never get past the first defender. He is a liability for us and our opponents can just ignore him. From open play he has scored 1 flukey goal in the PL since August...Even Heskey did better than that! He is not fit to wear any shirt at this level of football.

You mention Crouch but did you see how poor he was against the bin men? Sadly we only have one proven striker on the hands, so play Benayoun there? I know, 6 of his goals has come against Besiktas and H&W!

Rafa has me baffled with his persisitence to keep on playing Dirk. His confidence is shot to pieces. Crouch should be given more of a chance as he does have a decent scoring rate.
I really think Rafa should show some bollox and put Babel in there for a run. Defences would find it really difficult to cope with such fast forwards as Torres and Babel. They are both strong, technical and have good vision. I bet Fergie and Wenger would have long ago tried Babel out. I don't mean for a game either. Give him 7-8 games to see how he copes.

I too am wondering how Benitez has so much patients with Kuyt and the true goal scoring striker he has in Crouch gets ignored. Crouch has skill and in the ten minutes game time he gets in certain matches, he scores most of the time. Dirk Kuyt on the other hand is being played so often and he has no skill, he's slow, he looks tired with buckets of sweat rolling down his face after running all over the field and achieving nothing. I think that if he doesn't try to get rid of Kuyt, then he should leave himself. If it were Furgie or Wenger, he would have been out on his ass long ago because they are true managers who can recognize talent when they see it.

kuyt should be sold, why because he's a wimp , if you watch him closely he does not like upper body contact, no shoulder charging from him, on rare occaisions he may do the odd tackle, I'm told he works hard this is a myth, he runs around doing what, if he closes down a defender he'll trot up then stop about a metre away and allow the defender to comfortably pass the ball,he hampers the team,by that I mean teamates can't read him with thru balls and he can't read them we would be better off with 10 men

Compared to Torres, Kuyt is a total disgrace. Torres fights off defenders, he's not afraid of a challenge and he's strong on his feet. Kuyt on the other hand is useless in every aspect of the game. He's not strong on his feet, he has no ball control and he can't finish. I guess what i'm trying to say is he does not deserve to be in a team like Liverpool.

Finaly time to drop him? It was pretty evident to me after his first month at the club the guy is completely worthless as a player. All i hear about but he works so hard, ffs, if you paid me £50k a week id work damn hard, it doesn't mean to say that id bring anything to the team. You could merge kuyt and veronin and they still wouldnt make a full player.

We can talk for hours about how bad Kuyt is, but what is Benitez gonna do about it. Meanwhile the team suffers because they're trying to help him score feeding him sitters which he can't even put in the back of the net. Who will try to get this through Benitez's thick skull.

Have to agree with all the comments made here, well except the one about not turning this into a ‘Dirk Kuyt slagging off contest‘ as there's nothing else to say about him! Also I agree that the original story was letting Kuyt off lightly, he needs to be sold and that’s it. I’m sure a few Dutch and maybe German teams would be interested and we could recoup some of our outlay. Voronin can follow closely after him as well. With the money gained and the reduction of two wage bills we could probably afford to bring in another quality striker, Anelka would have been perfect. Then we’d have three main strikers who get more playing time, and hopefully become sharper and more used to each other’s play. Then a fourth striker if required could be made up from Babel, Benayoun, Kewel etc.
I can see why he was bought, he did look fantastic in the Dutch league, so no shame for Rafa there, but apart from a promising debut, he has done very little else. He is a liability and yes we may as well have 10 men, at least a move wouldn't then break down through his poor touch and play. Crouch does seem to do better in certain situations, like coming on as a sub when we're behind, need a goal and are bombarding the opposition’s area. Not so sure about him for 90 mins, although who knows how that would change if he were given the playing time of Kuyt? I agree that Babel should be given a decent run up front.
I too am fed up with the work ethic argument for Kuyts contribution. Given some time in the gym to build up my fitness I could quite easily charge aimlessly around the pitch achieving not a lot, in fact I think I would be bloody good at it if anyone wants to pay me 50 odd grand a week?

Dirk is high up in the assists chart, its that simple. None of the other forwards are consistently scoring so why not use, the most hardworking player who creates the most chances.
Our lack of goals can not be put down to one man.
Rafa, and every member of the squad(bar torres)are accountable for whatever is going on now.
We have more creative players than ever before under rafa, we have a top notch forward, we have some of the worlds finest midfield players and yet we can't score for shit.
Something is very wrong, probably a combination of a number of things.
-The turmoil surrounding the clubs finances, the fact that rafa has had to sign second or third choice targets like pennant instead of Alves, Pako leaving, Rafa's tactics.
I know it totally goes against the grain for Rafa but it may be time to throw caution to the wind and go all out attack.
The fans need something exciting and interesting at least.

The time to drop Kuyt passed months ago. He is clearly out of his depth and needs to go. His passing is sunday league and an absolute embarrassment. He needs to go, take Riise, Pennant, Aurelio, Kewell and Voronin with him. We need a left back and badly, one that can defend would help. Our wing problem has never been addressed.

I agree with a lot you say but to have a go at Reinna and gerrard are you off your head ? reinna has been the premierships number one goalkeeper for a couple of seasons now only Cech runs him close, and yrs we do rely on Stevie G and Torres because they are two players actually doing there job/

Players like Riise Kewll Kuyt Voronin Aurilio are tossing it off, others like Alonso Crouch arnt playing well but arnt getting a run in the side / much opportunity to do so. However, If I had to choose the front two it would be Torres and Babel, the pace of these two would give most defenses a scare. Also, Babel has scored more goals than Kuyt despite having played fewer games, many of which were as a sub.

Kuyt for 10m is a joke...so slow and heavy legged he takes 4 or 5 touches to get it under control, then can't do anything with it either. United and Arsenal have twice as many players as us who, regardless of quality, are actually athletic and can run. 10m on Kuyt...that's the same cost as Berbatov, Eduardo, not far off Anelka, more than Defoe. And Voronin...what a joke. Truth is our strike force after Torres is apalling...look at Spurs...give me Keane for either of them any day (and Lennon for Pennant!). Benitez didn't win the Champions League...Gerrard did. Sadly, I think we need a change.

You are so right criticalmind, if the Tinerman plays Kuyt and drops Crouch against Chelsea he has to be certified insane. Crouch has scored 4 goals in 5 games, Kuyt 3 in 24.
Kuyt should only come on as a sub once a game is won 3 or 4 nil , the only reason for that is to keep his name in the shop window in the hope that some other lunatic somewhere will put a bid in for him.

I've been saying this for ages..we can't just judge a player by watching few of his games on youtube... Kuyt = Shyt...yet he looks like a superstar in that clip...hope he succeeds to fool keegan, and we get to offload him!

Just like McMahon, Rush also is appealing to see Crouch given more opportunity ahead of Kuyt..especially for the Chelsea game... everybody can see Crouch is much better option..But seeing Rafa complaining about international break and players being unavailable to train..am pretty sure he will start with Pennant, Kewell, Aurelio and Kuyt aginst Chelsea coz all of them were dumped by the national coaches and left for Degrading training at melwood with our rotten training staff.

Rouman come on Van Persie Edwardo and Adebyoor are class acts aged 24 24 and 23 respectfully, yes Van Persie has had injury problems but Edwardo isnt a bad replacemrnt, Anelke has scored 11 goals not 6 and was playing for a crap team in Bolton why we never went in for him god only knows he is a provan goalscorer.Drogba is top drawer as well.
