Torres saves Rafa's blushes at the Riverside

Fernando Torres scored Liverpool's equaliser against Middlesbrough to save Rafa getting a huge onslaught from tomorrow's press.

Torres unleashed a rocket from 25 yards that Schwarzer had no chance of saving, after George Boateng had given Boro a first half lead.

 Rafa opted to start Voronin and Torres upfront, but in the first half this produced very little, the best chance falling to Gerrard who saw his shot from the edge of the box turned past the post for a corner.

Boateng slid in after a mix up in the Liverpool goal, putting Boro ahead in the 26th minute. From then on it was a cagey performance from the reds, Babel was brought on for Arbeloa, he saw a shot go just wide of Schwarzer's goal.

Kuyt was brought on for Voronin, but barely saw the ball as Liverpool pressed for a winner.

 In the end it finished 1-1, something the boss wont be happy with , but it's better than losing 1-0.
