There is a show of support for Rafael Benitez at the Porto game on Wednesday, starting at the Sandon at 7pm.
Originally an idea from someone on redandwhitekop.com , the idea is to get the message to as many people as possible who are going the game on Wednesday to show our support for Rafa after all the recent crap regarding Benitez, Gillett and Hicks.
Meet at the Sandon pub at 7pm, or if you cant be at the pub in time, make your voice heard in or outside Anfield!
Please remember to pass the message on, on any other LFC site you go on too.

my message to the new owners is basic, hang your heads in shame for the way you let the press get involved with Rafa Benitez this way. Rafael Benitez deserves our and everyone's utmost respect, the way these 2 clowns let the press get involved to a disgusting level. This is never the Liverpool way, I have never heard of an article involving the Liverpool directors in the Shankley era, or the Dalglish era.. only lately that wanted to grab a slice of this fame cake, and sadly they came to our club with such shit like that.
Rafael Benitez deserves all the respect for how he dealt with the club, how he made us back on the up, and how he just silenced everyone who doubted his potential everytime they question him!!!
I know Benitez is not going to leave, he's not a quitter, but he's surely feeling upset about the way he's been handled, there should have been more professionalism in the way they treated him, more respect and more loyalty, he's been here far more longer than they have been interested in football overall...

i knew from the start that the yanks would start throwing their weight around and i knew it would be a mistake selling out to them and now that rafa has stood up to them they dont like it because yanks can't take it when somebody does, the problem is that they dont have a scooby doo about how the premiership works, how the transfer window works and most of all how anfield and liverpool football club works because to them its just a money making machine,all rafa wants to know is how much money he is gonna get in january so he can look at certain players and see if we can afford them and tie them up before somebody else does, the man has taken us to numerous finals and won us cups 1 of which is the biggest cup in the world bar the world cup and will no doubt take us hopefully to many many more, i trust his judgement and have never doubted his talent as a coach so the yanks should shut up and put up the cash and let the man get on with it..... it would be interesting to know what someone else thinks

This is rubbish. Rafa spent loads of money to hire some of the best talent in the world in the off season, has arguably the most talented squad in the Premiership, and now he's moaning for more. Rubbish. The team that won the CL was less talented than this one, if he can't win with this squad than he needs to re-examine his head.

The Team
Kuyt and Crouch are both capable of scoring great goals providing they get to play a little more regularly and in the right positions. The trouble with our team is not with the strikers, its the supply to the strikers that is lacking a great deal of creativity and accuracy. I wrote sometimes ago criticising our midfield and I still think they are our weakest link. To be fare, we seem to have improved a little in the absence of Sessoko, Pennant and Alonso (the most mediocre players we’ve ever had). Arbaloa, Benayoun, Veranon and Kewll made a huge difference. I also said that strikers like Crouch and kuyt should be positioned in the box very much like Van Nistlerooy and Eric Cantona when they played for ManU... These guys are not good dribblers or tacklers... They are one step strikers and they do it extremely well. Torrese on the other hand seems to score better on the run and he can tackle and dribble well. Our midfielders struggles to pass the ball between them for 10 yards past the centre then they either loose it or take a wild shot only to put more pressure on our defence and starve our strickers form scoring.
Unlike most of you, I have very little to say in support of Rafa. I think we have a reasonable mix of talent but a mediocre manager. I think the yanks have got it right.

There are signs of decent amongst the players and problems with management. The signs are not encouraging and I am not as optimistic as you are as to winning PL in two years. Shrewd managers can play the politics at the executive level and keep performing on the pitch. I personally think ours is not up to it. He failed, whilst others have succeeded with less money and resources and I am sure that there are many supporters out there that would agree with me on this point.
I am not sure as to what the PUZZLE is, and I question all the pathetic excuses we keep piling up in his defence, from “we’ve had injuries to, rotation problems and lack of support form the management”.

Listen mate, Firstly, I don’t need you to rattle off bits of history to support your argument. I know all this, and I am just as passionate as you are. I only want the best for the club. Second best won’t do. Objectivity and diversity of opinions is a healthy thing. The first step to solving the problem we have, is acknowledging we have one.
Secondly, I have no trouble with comparing and praising other clubs when they play well. We can learn a lot by keeping a sharp eye and an open mind rather than just bagging everyone that doesn’t go with the flow.

He'll always remain an impressive figure down memory lane for us since he won us the Champions League in his first season. I was lost for words when I just had the thought that one day he'll ever leave, he's been the best thing this club had sicne Kenny Dalglish was around here early 90's!!!

We have not started a petition as there are already a few around, plus the fact what is going to happen to them anyway? alot of the time they dont get passed on, and the idea was to spread the word about Wednesday night, so the owners see that Rafa has the support of the fans, and that there will be uproar if he goes.
