Rafa Benitez admits Liverpool have lost their confidence after only bagging one win in 4 league games, but said they are still positive that something can be won this season.
Rafa has come under criticism for 'rotation' again, but says that now is not the time to be negative : "This isn't a time for being negative, it's a time for being positive, We're still unbeaten, qualification for the Champions League depends on us and we're still in the Carling Cup.
"We are in a better position than last year. In the Premier League we have five more points than at this stage last season, we're closer to the top of the table and with one game in hand. We just have to get our confidence back because we have lost it at the moment.
"At the start of the season we were playing well, with confidence and scoring goals. Now we just need to keep working hard. It's difficult with so many players away but we have spoken to the ones who are here and tried to analyse what has been going wrong.
"The Tottenham game was a couple of days ago now so I'm still extremely disappointed with the result. We know why we didn't win and that's because we didn't take our chances and then conceded two goals. It's difficult with the players being away but we just have to manage. We have no control over what they do for the next couple of weeks. I just hope they don't come back with any injury problems."

why don't we look for lowerleagued and much cheaper than dodgy foreigners ! i read last season we were looking at billy sharp and he ended up going 2 sheffield utd 4 2 million.when u look at rushie, aldo and rob jones who all done there job well !there is some good youngsters at cardiff city coming through like ledley,gunter and ramsey who i heard (the later)was being watched by us .surley it's better to pay 10 million 4 3 good british youngsters than 2 waste on 1 foreigner who is a waste of money lets say like diao, diouf or cherrou the less said about these 3 the better, but how much did they cost in total 24 million was it, i know they were houlliers signings but it a shame we don,t go for the younger players and teach them the liverpool way. the skills r already in place and at least they would understand how we play

now days everone of us, want succsess right away.so to many youngsters would mean a long wait. i know arsenal play with youngsters but its only this year that they might win somethink. how many fans want to wait 2/3 years to win the league. we have waited long enough allready. we do need to bring a few though thoe i am afraid today its about today not tomorrow. i am lucky i saw many great l,pool teams, from the 60 s 70s 80s 90s and there have been many great players.i hope we get another great team soon.

im all 4 that ! i don,t think we're that far away ! we just very indifferent with our displays and couple of signings which haven,t quite got going leto i've seen twice play now the lad looks very average and a waste of money , leiva seems coposed wen i've seen him come on but wats e gonna b like wen the cold weather starts calling, as 4 babel i,m not sure whether i like him as a player he,s quite direct but loses the ball on a regular basis only time will tell with these 3 youngster, but i've seen nothing to make me feel an different about the youngsters at the club and out on loan look a lot better than the 3 above this is why i feel the way foward is to bring our lindfields ,andersons and darbys through lets give em a go because the foreign players r not cutting it at the moment

you have made some good points, but babbel will be a player in time . leto needs time levia is a class player. the youngsters you mention are ok, and i am sure they will get there chance. we all want instant success, i am no diffrent but you do need to give the players a chance.

one thing my name is tumilty ! i think leiva is a good player to a certain level but i wouldn,t say class, as 4 instant success i just b happy if we'd play off the leash and looked like we actually liked playing for the club .i can't quite put my finger on why were playing so bad but least we ain't lost yet thats the only thing 2 look forward to is when the boys do play well we won't b to far away from the top !!!

i just hope though we actually start to use our home grown youngsters more, as i don,t understand going out and paying lots of money for a foreigner who don't speak english and take 2-3 seasons to settle ! i hope the players that u have mentioned eddie888 do come through as what i,ve seen of them they have got a great set up but what i like most about them is the football they play,with the way the first team r playing it would be good 4 the rafa to bring a reserve or 2 through and maybe if 1 of our so called top players get dropped then we might c em actually start fighting for their shirts a bit more !

I agree he is wrong with the rotation stuff, but apart from that he has done agreat job, Players like Torres would have had signed for ManUre, Babel For Assnal if Benitez was not here, he knows what are the weakness of the team, and try to get them solved. He brought strikers after we had a goal drought last season, and he is already planning for a good winger and another striker for the january transfer, as well as getting rid of Crouchy who scores once in a blue moon.

just watched them play agaist man u the score 1/1 leto played good levita was good and so was the french kid from lyon and the left back insuna is a great prospect. jordy bower is skillfull. and spearing was man of the match it was a game we should have won easy, missed to many chances and levita hit the post in the last min. the mancs got there goal with 5 mins to go. but we were by far the better side. oh and critical mind what you have said about rafa is spot on. i think somepeople forget about houiller. and how poor he was.

Have you seen the last match with Tottenham? we have a midfield that leaks like a sieve and a line of dyslexic strikers that cant score in an open goal which puts a lot pressure on our defence line to carry the burden of Benitez's choice. To tell you the truth I am not even sure about the suitability of players like Babbel, Mascherano and Torres for a team like Liverpool FC.
I think the man lacks vision and the ability to implement successful strategies. I think Chelsea is too good for him, he is only suited to coach a local school team and if we don't move now we will give away the EPL, the Champions league and the Fa cup. We need someone with Red in their veins not pink. Bring in Jose Mourinho I say.

I have nothing against the players he bought but I seriously question his judgement, there suitability to Anfield and dare say English football in general. I think these guys are great players in there own right, but can they click together? Are they suited to the style of football we play? Dose Benitez place them in the right positions? For example, why do we have a player like Kuyt who should be playing in the 6 yard box poaching goals running around in midfield like an idiot? Why do some major players like Gerard and Carragher appear to have lost their zest? We need to ask why are we in decline before its too late then it will take us another 4 years to rebuild. If I was a Chelsea fan I'd suggest keep Beneitez.

Well, when England is Winning by 3-0 against teams like Estonia, he should have substituted Gerrard early in that game and keep him fit for the next game, but as if he is still sided with middlesbourough, and want the liverpool captain to be out of energy for the Everton match... He could have used useless lampard to replace gerrard, after It seemed that England was quite stable, and was sure to win the Estonai match easily.

Riise is one of my fav's. He not always been at his best, but he has given me some great times, especially over Manure!! FREEKICKS and all GREAT. He been with us so long now that he just feels part of the team, he is usually on song most matches and is great getting forward. he is a clean striker of the ball, quick and a good clean tackeler, unlike alot of full backs. he is versatile in midfield as well. He didnt cost much either. He is still only 26 so very young, he is ususally fit and rarely gets injured. He is a good character who like most scandinavians knows the english game/weather and loves to play in it. But most of all is this, out of all full backs in The Premiership today i will name those better : Micah Richards, who plays centre back alot now and is much younger, and possibly ashley cole who is quicker but not as good in the tackle. That it. for all round ability only these 2 can touch J.A.R. Neville is over the hill and crocked alot now, and an arsehole, arsenal's young glaey gilcey is no were near the finished article, if he still with them. I can go on but wont. Riise on his game, is a brillant player and he still got the running in him. The fee we would get for him, say 6 million wouldnt get anywhere near a better full back and who to say Daniel Alves who plays Right side, would adapt better than Finnan or Riise.

Sammy left us in 2004 and has been a coach with england and liverpool and bolton, before stepping up to manager. He hasnt done well but you cant judge a manger on this amount of games. I would think sammy wants to get a coaching job somewhere again. maybe in the prem or with england again, and wait for his next chance as a manager maybe in the championship. We do have a vacancy with PAKO leaving, and i still think this is a big reason for our slump, but i dont think rafa really knows lee and would employ him, with that much responsibilty,

Why you give Pako so much importance???
I can't understand why somebody can give Pako so much importance or is it simply that they are trying to find out all types of excuse for the players lack of responsability.. Pako was just like one of the players Rafa bought and then sell, even rafa explained that his departure has nothing to do with the bad form.
Was Pako holding the fingers of the players and teaching them how to play or what??
I've never heard that the departure of an assistant manager has affect any other teams before in the premiership, so i don't kno where these type of cover up for players bad form come up.
Its the players who need to start watching the game of other teams and learn to play good football.

what you guys, forget is that pako was the guy who talked to the players. he became friends with most of them xabi who has known him years, reina, sg, carra,. they all had good things to say about him. he must be good at his job because chelsea, and the mancs are intrested in him. rafa has said himself the players are workers and he is the boss, he does not belive in getting close to players its all bussiness to him well thats fine some of the time, the players need a middle man like pako, at liverpool we have allways had one. roy evans was one ronnie moran,and phil thompson to alesser extent.as houiller was close to most of the players, for you to play well you have to be happy in your suroundings, and trainers. so yes pako was of inportance he was part of a chain a small link maybey but if one link is missing from a chain no matter what size it becomes weak.maybey in time we will all know the real reason he left,but for now bring in Mcalaster or lee.

I doubt very much we are all going to agree and fair enough, but it was only yesterday that i found out that liverpool are paying PAKO's wage until next season, even though he walked out, this is to prevent him from working for another club, passing on details, but also because the club came out and stated that pako was much to valuable to any oposition as he knows to much, and his skills as a whole. This isnt the only case of a club doing this, but clearly the guy is a plus to any team/club and when you lose something which was good for you, your worse off for however long/or short time. I will agree that his departure is not going to have a depremental effect on us all season, but i stand by my post of that, his departure timing with the run of bad form, was at best hindering our ability to pull out of the bad form we were in. He was a loss at the time, and will reamain so. Rafa is the boss and yes he is the one who is responsible for our success but when he loses a friend/partner/colleague and skillful professional, it's sure to effect him/shock him for first few wks. But i give him credit he should pull us out on his own.its his job along with the players.
