Reaction to Gerrard's Injury

Yesterday in a press conference Rafa Benitez assured Liverpool fans that captain Steven Gerrard is well enough to play against Chelsea but not for England during the week.
Gerrard has a hairline fracture in his toe and Rafa has stated that it will not prevent him for playing for Liverpool but that participating in the England Friendly against Germany would be pushing him too far. Some England fans seem to be up in arms over this announcement and have been slating Gerrard for the decision.
One post on the BBC 606 website says how 'pathetic' it is that Gerrard has opted out of the match and that it is 'shameful' that he would turn down an opportunity to play for his country, even though it was Benitez who said McClaren couldn't pick him for the line up.
One angry football supporter said that Gerrard should be stripped of his vice-captaincy! Another article, posted by a fan of a certain London team has said it is 'cowardly' not to let the Liverpool hero rest against Chelsea (clearly forgetting about last season when they brought Cech back against Liverpool far too soon after that nasty blow to the head!) and this person then goes on to suggest that Liverpool F.C have a conspiracy against the England International team and that they are encouraging their players to turn down their call ups.
On another website England/Man United fans have also been complaining about the apparent cowardice of the Liverpool manager, claiming that it is proof Liverpool are a one-man-team and of course if England should lose against Germany it will be at the fault of Gerrard and Benitez.
All in all it seems that this minor injury has served as a blessing for Liverpool's rival fans. Stevie G will probably not be on the best of form this Sunday, so obviously if Chelsea win they will say Rafa might as well have rested him because he is useless anyway, then again if Liverpool win the supporters will mouth off about how we won even though Gerrard was injured.
As for every other non-Liverpool supporter in England, it just gives them someone to point the finger when(oh sorry I mean if) they lose to Germany next week!
Penalty My Arse
Well done to the players and rafa, we deserved all three points and a clean sheet today as chelsea did not hardly trouble reina, excellent and professional performance, only gripe would be shots to target, we may need shooting practice, some good chances to make it 2-0, but its a minor point as the ref gifted them an undeserved point, great goal from torres, the same again next week please fernando, if we can play anywhere near that standard for most of the season, "the premiership title", well it may just be coming home.

.......Disgrace! He should be suspended or something because he just didn't do his job today. With the amount of cards handed out in the match you'd swear nasty tackles were happening all over the pitch, but they weren't were they? Giving that penalty, well if I wasn't a Liverpool supporter I'd find it laughable and what was the story with Essien? I reckon Stiles just isn't up to the job, he clearly freaked out about refereeing such a high profile match and couldn't handle it,or else he just wanted to show of and steal the lime light as usual.No more big games for Mr.Stiles I should think... They're better off just sticking him in petty competitions like the World Cup...........

Gerrard and Rafa's comments
Gerrard and Rafa's comments after the match were spot on. But the idiots at the FA will take the refs side no doubt.
The penalty was ridiculous and even Andy Gray said so and Sky sports usuall sit on the fence.
For that decision alone Stiles should be demoted to the football league. However he can cover himself with the Essien affair. FIFA rules state that a referee can change his mind on any decision as long as the ball has not gone back in play. So all he has to say in his match report is "yes I booked him but realising it would mean sending him off for a trivial offence I decided to retract the yellow card."
There have already been a number of shit decisions by officials this season and the FA needs to take action before the game is ruined completely.

Styles was so unprofessional and he clearly waved that card in Essien's face. Saying he was showing the card to Terry is a poor excuse for three reasons, Terry was a good bit away at the time, the Ref wasn't even facing in Terry's direction and he had already clearly shown Terry the yellow card so why show it again? I heard this morning that Styles will not be refereeing any matches next week, but he might be back the week after, thats not a punishment!

Holy Jaysus, he gets the weekend off. Well for some. The prick should be sent to the wettest part of england to ref 3 amatuer games a day on Saturday and Sunday. He'll probably still get paid so what the fuck does he care about not workin' the weekend.
The funny thing is if he had of done that to Chelsea he'd be getting death threats in the post and be forced to retire.

I thought it was just for
I thought it was just for Terry too Karl. But after seeing the replay it went like this.
- Ben Haim commits foul.
- Ben haim and Terry complain.
- Terry gets booked and both players walk away.
-Ref puts card back in pocket
-Essien arrives and picks up ball preventing quick free kick.
-Ref takes out card and shows it to Essien. Terry is well out of the scene at this stage, 20 yards away.
-Ben Haim rushes over to complain as he and Essien both believe the Chelsea midfielder to be off.
-The ref then waves Ben Haim away with the yellow card still in his hand, giving the impression that the isreali is getting booked.
-No further action is taken on any player. ???????
-Ref makes up bull shit story to cover his arse.

Daylight Robbery
Well... to start with something, who cares if England wins or loses ?!!!... it's a stupid friendly anyway, youngsters like Steven Taylor and Aaron Lennon would have been more thrilled than full-time internationals like Gerrard or Terry !!! If you go for a match at Anfield you'll see it clearly "Not English, SCOUSE", so I guess I speak for every Liverpool supporter when I say, whenever there's internationals week around, all we care about is seeing OUR players come back home safe and ready to play the next game.
And for the Chelsea game, it was obvious how Malouda jumped his way into Finnan's path and acted as if he's fallen down, the ref's performance all around was a fuckin' disgrace by all means, yet what's gonna make this an insult is that if we appeal or say a ward the FA will come back raining us with fines, so keep it to ourselves we know who was the better side, and any sane neutral football fanatic would recoganize this as a robbery!
Good points were obvious, Pennant was great down the right flank, Arbeloa is really getting on with the back line and showing more promise than "I guess" we all though. Torres' goal was just a reminicent of the old days when we had the likes of Owen and Fowler who'd score goals like this and make it look easy, I bet Morientes, Cisse and Bellers are all seeing the difference to what they all did around here. Babel is a bomb waiting to explode, and he'll one day win all sorts of awards and make big headlines, if he keeps on like this, and being only 20 makes up for better future for sure!
All and all, it's still a long way to go, next up is Sunderland, and we diffenetly will win it if we played like we did against Chelsea. So much apparent that our boys are showing their best in the Premiership, and who am I to argue with that!
