Do Liverpool really need/want Benayoun?

Liverpool have made an offer for Yossi Benayoun at West Ham, but do we really want/need him in the squad?
Rick Parry today confirmed that Rafa Benitez bid for the Israeli, who is currently considering a new deal from the Hammers. Parry said "I can confirm we have made an approach for Yossi Benayoun, but the figures quoted are completely wrong, Other than that we don’t want to say any more"
Benayoun has been linked with Liverpool in the past, although now we have Pennant for the right side of midfield, who Benitez obviously likes or he would not have played in the Champions League final.
Gerrard also plays on the right when Alonso/Sissoko/Mascherano play, so if we did sign Benayoun he wouldnt be needed. There's no doubting that he is a quality player with alot of skill and determination, but where would he fit in?

The fans may prefer us to be making offers for the big names. But the club said that they would work with the plan put before them by Rafa. I imagine with this offer and the one for Renato Augusto that's what's happening. If Rafa think's we need/want him who are we to question.

I think it's all but done as he already stalled on signing the new contract with hammers,so he wants to go.

Really not needed...we have too many.What will he provide that others before him havent ?Just going to create even more aggrevation on the other members who will most def be rotated...you bring in a "class" player like lucas who is supposed to be the next ronaldinho and then make and offer for benayoun where SG LG AND JP can easily fill.

If we were to buy a right winger it should either be Simao or Alves or stick to Pennant.. NO MORE WASTE OF MONEY!!! Why waste money on players who will prove nothing??? We can use the money to get a good striker..Better nothing than Benayoun!!!

We may have been crying out for a player like Yossi for the last 2 seasons! Yes we have Garcia but Luis is so inconsistent you loose hair with frustration watching him play. Yossi has prem experience a good attacking midfielder with a keen eye for a pass a trick or two and gets on the score sheet. I remember when ever we played West Ham he was a tricky little shit and you was always worried when he had the ball ...!! But I hear what a lot of fans are saying because with his inclusion Rafa will be rotating like a merry go round and we all know how that works out!!

I would prefer Aaron lennon than Benayoun..
Look at ManUre, the always look for the best from other clubs..Rooney from Everton, Ferdinand from leeds, Carick from totenham..and they pays the price coz they know they will get results..But at liverpool what do we do??
We look for some cheap stuff, try them, if they are good its ok, they will be rotated, but if they are junk will be sold the next season!!! Why don't we go for a fast player like Lennon who is much more like Ronaldo!!!
Liverpool need only some key players to win the EPL, a A.Lennon can be one of them. He is even compared to lionel messi for his speed. Just what was the weapon of Michael Owen??..his speed..We can get that from Lennon..we don't need to wait for any player to say come and get me!! Its up to club to approach them with the money!!! U'll see that none of those mentioned aboved asked to go to ManU, yet Ferguson went for them.

Even if Rafa was interested in getting Owen back to Anfield, it would never happen as long as Newcastle are asking for John Arne Riise, there is no way that Rafa would be stupid enough to believe that Owen is worth 9 mil , bellamy AND Riise.

He made his choices, and picked the Toons ahead of us, so it is not our mistake eventually, he could have waited when Benitez told him to, so he can lower Real Madrid's valuation and get him back, but he didn't listen.
