Sissoko: I'm not happy

Momo Sissoko wants to know if he has a future at Anfield, having been left out the Champions League final line up, and is not happy with playing one match then not playing the week after.

Sissoko established himself as a first team regular in his first season at Anfield, but has played a bit-part role since the arrival of Javier Mascherano, and Sissoko is not happy with being left out of the side on a regular basis, and the signing of Lucas Leiva will give Momo more competition for place in the team.
"The manager chooses the team, he thinks the team he picks is the best to in that game. I have to accept that." .

"At the beginning of the season I played a lot, but then I play, not play, play, not play - for me I am not happy.

"When you are a young player you want to play every game. In every training session I work hard to prove to the manager that I have my place in the team. Now I'm 22, and I know I am still a young player, but now I need to progress because playing every game is important to me."

"I've two years left on my contract and I'm happy with Liverpool, when you play for this club it's something very special, So I need to know my situation, I've know Rafa Benitez since I was 17-years-old and I know he is the perfect manager.

"I know he has confidence in me. I'd like talks to stay longer and we've a meeting arranged with my agent. But I need to play football and now after the final I need to know my position."

Does he have a chance of getting a game next season? If we get a right winger in, Gerrard will be central with Alonso/Mascherano and then Lucas Leiva is coming in aswell.

Sissoko has been great for us, but he had a few bad games, he needs to improve his passing, because if he makes a tackle it seems he loses the ball again with a poor pass.

Momo has gone backwards in

Momo has gone backwards in his developement since coming back from injury. I feel he's afraid to get injured when he goes in for a challenge. Either send him on loan are sell him.

yer i agree/ sissoko

Juventus are on the verge of signing Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko for £8.5m, reports in Italy claim.

The 22-year-old has been on the club’s wish list for some time as the Bianconeri look to strengthen their squad in view of their return to the top flight.

The young Mali international, who was asked for by previous Coach Didier Deschamps last November, is considered by many as the new Patrick Vieira.

Juventus turned their attention to Sissoko after the Bianconeri missed out on Werder Bremen ace Torsten Frings last month.

Stories in the peninsula suggest that Sissoko has reached an agreement with Juventus, who will now meet Liverpool officials to finalise the move.

The Italian giants are understood to have tabled an offer of just under £9m and the Champions League finalists are ready to do business.

Sissoko, who was born in France, faces stiff competition for a starting shirt at Anfield given the presence of Javier Mascherano, Xabi Alonso and Steven Gerrard in their squad. They have also agreed to sign Brazil U-20 captain Lucas Pezzini in July.

Meanwhile, Marco Tardelli looks like he will remain on the Juventus board despite rumours suggesting that he was ready to quit.

However, Roberto Bettega looks like he is on his way out after the transfer consultant wasn’t offered a new contract in Turin.

30 million for Eto'o

It seems like a lot of money and our team needs more than a striker; but I say pay it if Eto'o agrees to sign. It will finally put out a statement of intent and to sign a striker at his peak from Barcelona is the sort of statements of intent we need to make.

We badly need a left winger and I'd prefer Simao to Pennant and then, maybe, if we keep the rest of our players we should make a title challenge.

But what if Eto'o got injured like he did this season for Barce; we'd be stuck with Kuyt and Crouch to shoot us to the title!!

£30 million

Its an lot of money for one player, granted hes a class act, but as 1Red1Pool says if he gets injured and god forbid it was a broken leg were would we be? scratching around lokking for a second rate striker we could just about afford after splashing out £30 mil on one player, why not get some one who has already got the prem experience (Anelka, Tevez, Mcarthney or even Owen)

Cause we need a big star

Our main problem is having a CLINICAL finisher, nothing more! I'm with you on the fact that we'd better look after someone like Anelka, McCarthy or Darren Bent. But the fact isn't about these players, Rafa's tactics and system is different to these players, otherwise people like Cisse & Morientes should have been a great success with us, especially as they were good in their previous clubs. Of course the fact that they were coming from different leagues and all comes to the equation, but the fact that they were proven before made it another matter (Cisse grabbed 19 goals with us in his last season 2005-06, does anyone mentions it at all?!)... the thing is, being clinical makes up for many other things, Tevez is not what we're looking for as he's pretty much similar to Kuyt "not a Target Man"... Eto'o on the other hand is, you give him the ball and he'll have an 80% chance to score!

The problem with this is, there aren't many out there that have these clinical instincts "like a young Fowler for example, or a young Owen" Today's clinical strikers are Henry, Eto'o, Drogba, and Raul "hence it's not about pace or poching, otherwise, the rest of the big starts could have been involved in, beside I can't think of many others, if I've forgotten one, please forgive me"

£30 million & Momo for Ronaldinho?

I wonder if we offered 30 million and Momo Sissoko for Ronaldinho what the response would be? He has lost a bit of spark at Barce but would be brilliant for us.

I doubt he would move to Liverpool if Barce accepted a huge bid? What a signing he would be though if we could prersuade him to help us end our 17 year drought.

If we are willing to spend the £30 million on one player maybe we should consider a cheeky bid for Thierry Henry? A bid over 20 million should sign him and shock the football world. He has long declared his admiration for Liverpool FC and would be brilliant with Gerrard. If Arsenal accepted the bid and let it be known they want rid of him he would move to Anfield for revenge.
Is it possible we could get Henry?

isnt this what we have wanted ?

SCOUSE4LIFE1979's picture

Isnt this what we have wanted ? Signing someone world class and competing with the likes of the manures and the chelskis .
When it really comes down to it we all pull back when we see the price tag...we are still not there yet.If the board dont show us a genuine war chest we will all be biting out nails and saying " we paid too much"
30 million is alot for eto , i was thinking maybe 20-25 .If it does go through we will have to sell our outgoing players for the top end price. We dont only just need a striker.we need a right back who can play right mid when needed "alvves" although he didnt show that he had it in him when playing for brazil.

I'd buy one superstar anyway

Even if it is a risk to spend it all on Eto'o I'd still do it - unless we could get Thierry Henry or Ronaldinho. We need a genuine world star in our team besides Gerrard.

We also need a world class player up front. Spending so much on Eto'o is a big risk when we haven't got much more to spend but we need to make a signing of that size to get the whole of European football talking about Liverpool with fear.

We can afford to let Sissoko go and use that 8-10 million to buy Simao or Malouda or whoever Benitez wants for the wings. Bellamy also can go for 8-10 million so that's more money for wingers for another stiker. So Benitez can wheel and deal to get the players we need and Eto'o.

Two words... "world

Two words... "world class"...

How many really top strikers are there? A handful... (and no, that doesn't include Bent, Owen, Anelka, Berbatov, etc - they are exactly what we've been doing in the past "make do's". We need to break that mindset.)

How many are likely to leave their club to come to Liverpool? At best two or three - and all will cost £20m+. (Arsenal or Chelsea or the Mancs would not sell their strikers to us for ...£50m)

There is little room to negotiate. The only leverage is if the player wants to join us (Eto'o?)... and if he's fallen out with his manager or teammates (Eto'o)... or if he has been injured (Eto'o)... or will be missing for 6 weeks in the middle of the season (Eto'o)

This is a special situation - with a full season under his belt he would have again been Europe's golden boot; without the personal clashes with Ronnie and Frank, Barça would never think of letting him go...

We need to try and take advantage of that situation... quickly. Forget the LFC record signing fee (irrelevant); money is pouring into the EPL from TV - and if LFC wants to be the best club in the best league, we NEED a superstar (a Zidane, a Maradonna, a Cruijff - at their peaks). We want THE best striker in the world - and that will cost...

What we don't want is to settle for a mixed bag of good/emerging players (like we had to in the past)

Now we don't. You can only put 11 players out there at any one time... the best teams have great players in most of those slots. Realistically we have maybe half (being generous) - we don't need squad players.

How much do we have?

Look people are getting their knickers in a twist over spending "all our money" on one player.

But, over the last 5 years LFC has spent £20-30m EVERY year. The whole purpose of the takeover was to give us MORE money for players.

Now let's assume that Rafa is being given a once-off double that... not unreasonable?

Add to that £10m for Momo, £8m for Bellamy, £4m for Gonzales(?), £3m for Sinama, and let's say another £5m for anyone else Rafa is planning to unload.

That makes a £70 - 80m "pot". He's already spent £5m on Lucas and £0m on Voronin.

If Rafa spends £35m on Eto'o and £12m on Simao and let's say £12m on Alves. That leaves £10-20m to pay the higher wages of these players over the ones they are replacing plus the increases for those signing new contracts.

Sounds like good business to me.

What the hell are we waiting for????

Sign the players now Rick!!!!!!!!!
We're already 20 points behind united with the season is yet to start.Anderson and Nani, the mancs are pissing themselves with joy now.Where's the money????????????Come on!!!!!One thing I'm afraid of now is Rafa will go unless he's given the money.

SIGN !

joza's picture

i agree with you firdeboer what are we waiting for? we need to sign players now instead of waiting to the last minute and getting ok players. we need to nag barca for eto, we need a defender to be back up maybe ribery we need a winger as pennant is good but needs competion for the place to get better.simoa and alves would be good signings. COME ON RAFA we need the players now before they go.

Saviola is a cheap buy

The little Argie would score goals in the Premiership, especially if he had a mule like Kuyt doing all the work for him. I'd sell Bellamy and take Saviola. It seems Ferguson is making moves for him too.

We still need Eto'o or Torres as well but Saviola is a good box player for the money who can play off the bigger man. It seems very strange we have made no signing when it's obvious the positions we need to get players for. It must be true we are trying to get the really big star for a huge fee otherwise we could have snapped up Simao and Malouda by now without any hassle.

I just hope it all comes off otherwise Benitez will be off and who will we get to replace him?

Very strange indeed that

Very strange indeed that even long term targets like Simoa haven't been announced as having signed on the dotted line. Folk can bang on about the LFC way of handling transfers discreetly but surely the PR and merchandising side of the business side must see the benefits a early big signings will have on shirt sales. Rafa's post final rant when he exposed all of our dirty laundry and I mean all, was a sure sign that perhaps there isn't much cash. If as reports suggest we are in the market for Eto I would really just forget about him now. He seems a bit arrogant and will probably go to a team like AC Milan .. Inter Milan etc ... I just don't see our style incorporating him! If the yanks are not gonna stump up the 40 mill Rafa obviously needs to take the club up another level then Parry and Co have done a job on all concerned and it will be a sad time in our history. Summer transfer is an incredible stressful time !!!
