Gillett not confident of title
George Gillett has said he does not know if Liverpool are capable of winning the premiership next season.
In a statement that is hardly going to fill Liverpool fans with confidence, Gillett said "I don't know if we are capable of challenging for the title next year.
"We want to make progress but it is a multiple-year programme. We want to challenge but we won't do it overnight.
"Manchester United are formidable competitors, Arsenal are one year older with brilliant young players and Chelsea are perhaps the greatest club in the world. They're not going to get any worse.
"Next season is up to Rafa Benitez and our chief executive Rick Parry. They have a plan and we're working on it. We're right behind it but we've got a big job to"
Gillett has previously said that himself and Mr Tom Hicks will back any bid that Rafa makes, obviously he will have doubts, but is this a sign that something is not right at Anfield? For months we have heard Gillett and Hicks praise the club and its fans, and how the club has a bright future etc, but this is not what we wanted to hear!

What a prick eh?
What a prick eh?? What kind of chairman says he isnt confident of the title ?A wanker of a chairman who isnt willing to spend big and spend quick...Bloody hell the mancs are going to spend 53 million pounds on 3 players...thats what we have to match and more to even have a chance of winning something called the Epl...its now or never for the board and rafa..do it and do it quick ..no time for thinking....who needs such a chairman eh ?? great way to show some enthusiasm and confidence in your team and manager.....its comments like this that make me wish DIC to control when they had the chance.
Get rid of Parry, we haven't
Get rid of Parry, we haven't won a title since he's been in the board room pulling the strings. He's been destroying our club for nearly twenty years. As far as this new guy goes. Rafa's been trying to build something for 3 years now. His "overnight" statement suggests that he thinks we need to start a complete rebuild. Not so. Just confine Riise to squad rotation and get a proper left back (Or at least agood one), who wants a player that laughs and smiles while collecting his LOSERS medal and giving Platini a hardy handshake. Get a flamboyant right winger or put Gerrard there with no free role. We need that clinical striker, Anelka, Eto'o (Break the bank).
was reading somewhere that
was reading some where that Tom hicks has told the fans to be patient!!
WTF ..is he serious ? How patient do you have to be ? When you first bought the club you promised money and fame and whatever else .Now he is asking us to be patient...i think its just some move to shut us up coz they have nothing better to do . I dont think these wankers actually knew what they were gettin themselves into when they bought LFC.Now im wishing that the DIC deal went through when it was on.Due to greed we probably lost out on winning anything for the 2007-2008 season....and yeah im being really negative coz i havent seen anything from anyone that proves otherwise.
Hicks also talk about the new stadium...you know why ?This is just one of their pile of crap plans to distract us true fans.I thought the future looked bright., but to be honest with the current people in charge i dont see anything promising(i hope im proved wrong i really do)
Scouse4life, you are getting
Scouse4life, you are getting frustrated like myself with the lack of action. I thought once the Americans took over all the unprofessional nonsense of the past few years would be over and we'd be a world class organisation doing deals in a matter of days and getting the players we need in without any fuss or bullsh1t.
Instead, we have Parry going on about all the hard work that's been done behind the scenes. No chief executive talks about tranfers more than Rick Parry and no one is slower to actually do the deals. He works at a snails pace. Did he learn anything from David Gill and how quick they got the young Nani and Anderson?
Rouman,
Chelsea can call themselves a counter attack team too and that's fair enough. All I know is anyone neutral who watches Liverpool thinks they're a team whose prime concern is defending hence they are a defensive team. At this stage I can live with the style as long as we win the league.
But you vastly underestimate AC Milan - as everyone did at the beginning of this season yet they won their 7th European Cup. They are the best club in Europe in the last 20 years so very few players will turn them down. And they also have the Intercontinental Cup to play which all players like. And they have a glorious stadium and history to match our own. Plus most foreign players would prefer to live in Milan than Liverpool so being realistic if it's a straight choice between us and Milan I believe Eto'o will pick AC Milan. I hope not but I would bet so.
1red1pool
sorry mate your wrong, ac milan wiere agreat team . they are not now i did not underestimate ac milan. we should have beaten them if we had a striker, we would have. and we would not be haveing, this conversation. i think barca have amuch better team. better players, milan is a nice place so is liverpool . and we have better fans,i have faith we will avenge that defeat agaist milan you will see why go to a club in decline////
wait till next season juventus will win there league and it will be left ,to liverpool to beat them .italy is the country for being devensive, one good game agaist the mancs does not make you a attaking team. have you watched them in the league.they play back wards.even agaist us they defended no ac are a spent force.
Juve won't win with Tinkerman
I reckon Juventus won't win the Serie A next season with Clownio Ranieri in charge. Inter Milan are in much better shape. Ranieri was 2nd rate at Chelsea and sacked at Valencia so I dunno how he got the Juve job but he'll be lucky to last the season. I'd have pulled my hair out if he ever got the Liverpool job!
I understand your opinion on Milan but they're a class club and have Silvio Berlusconi ready and waiting with his cheque book to sign whoever they want. So the age of their current players doesn't really matter as they'll get who they want. They supposedly bid £15 million for Daniel Alves. Milan will always be very strong and always have been in European football since Berlusconi took over.
I obviously hope Eto'o would choose Liverpool above anyone else. But realistically I believe AC Milan at this moment are a bigger pull for top players so I hope it's not a battle between them and us for Eto'o.
maybey
yea iam not sure chelski have more money than ac milan.they can buy who they want, but they dont all sign, for chelsea. alves is only ,intrested in money so if chelsea pay more than milan he will go to chelski. tinkerman ,might just have learned his lesson i still back them next season,by hook or crook,if you know what i mean .
mancini
just heard liverpool, are intrested in signing h[m, from roma.who is he, i know he is from brazil.
Being in an Italian country
Being in an Italian country is a big pulling factor when attracting players from South America or Spain because of the similarities in culture. Many Spanish origin players come to the UK and have real difficulties with the food / climate and general pace of how we interact and that is why Chelsea and London clubs have been the preferred choice for many forigen players who do make the trip to the prem. In regards to Racism Eto must have injured just as much in Spain which is notorious for abuse so there would be little to adjust to. But the biggest seller for Eto will be the fact that he can become the Milan Prince and enjoy the media frenzy that'll sooth his ego. Unless we pay some straight up sill fooking cash .. the AC Milan mafia have their Sheva replacement!
defensive my f'in #rse
lfc are not a defensive side.more like a probing side.always pushing on for an opening.
on average in matches at anfield we create 20 chances on goal(compare thgat 2 other sides in the premier league)and we are not far off away from home also.averaging about 15 chances per game.
we are more attacking than all the other sides in the premiership, its just that we dont put them away people forget this,we can be direct but we are not a long ball side.i just dont understand were everyone gets all this info from?
they just believe what the papers say me thinks?
