Barry wants Bellamy

Aston Villa's Captain Gareth Barry says he would love to play alongside Craig Bellamy- At Villa Park.

Rafa is expected to make huge changes to his squad over the summer, and with the addition of Andrei Voronin to Liverpool's front line, and another striker likely to follow, Speculation has risen over Bellamy's future, and Gareth Barry was quick to state he wants the Welshman at Villa: "I'd definitely welcome Craig Bellamy, He has proved himself in the Premier League - and across Europe as well.

"People like Craig Bellamy are the kind of quality players we want to be linked with and, if we sign them, it's even better.  We're now being linked with all the top players and hopefully this summer we can sign a couple.

"The next step for the club is to move on to the next level, which is European football, and Craig Bellamy can help us do that if he comes or if players of that quality come as well. He's feisty but maybe that's something the club needs. You need winners in your team and he is definitely one of those"

bellamy

joza's picture

barry can have bellamy as he hasnt done much for us this season and will be sold. We need a top class striker and that certainly isnt bellamy.eto, owen or tevez we should grab now as they can help us win the premiership for sure.

Joza i guarantee that under

Joza i guarantee that under O'neil Bellamy will get goals I can't say that about any of Rafa's striker signings. Before we label him not good enough we need to assess why our strikers don't score ... is it the system ... ??

bellamy

bellamy scored goals, for blackburn. why, because he was the mane man. and wales he scores too but who do wales beat.bellamy is second rate, he has allways been second rate. at villa he will be the mane man,be honest what strikers have villa got that are any good. do not blame rafa, cisse is scoring goals, in france . why he is theremane striker. donot be fooled bellamy has not got what it takes, to be a top striker. i have watched him for years, why we bought him i will never know. how you guys rate him i donot know. to me he is not worth 2 millon.

fair point

I've heard people say that before Rouman, they say he can't hack it at a big club where he's not the main star. I must admit though I can't understand it? He gets goals everywhere he goes just the same as he's colorful character everywhere he goes. At Blackburn he was a revelation because they played to his strengths .. attack .. release the ball early keep the tempo high. So out of interest it would seem our main guys are the midfielders and they aren't really helping with the goals.. so in heinz sight should we have made Bellamy the main guy ??

no

i watched bell, when he was at newcastle. and blackburn when he played ,against the top four ie.mancs arse, chelski and us he never got a kick. i watched him at anfield, he was crap.he cannot do it against the big boys . his mental state is i am, not what i could be.plus ithink he is light weight. at liverpool he is like a small fish in a big pond. give him his due, he knows it.sorry mate he is not liverpool class.

Bellamy isn't quite up to it

I partly agree with Rouman that Bellamy is not top drawer. He has a lot to his game except a clinical eye for goal. He can score, but he is not a clinical striker of the Michael Owen model.

However, I also agree with Tyron26 that any striker will struggle in a Benitez team if he is dropped every two games. How often was Drogba, Rooney or Henry dropped? Benitez has to stop f-cking around with the team selection, especially the forwards who need to play every week to get rythm.

He did it to supposedly keep the players fresh and fit for the end of the season yet against Chelsea in extra time at Anfield and against Milan in the last 20 mins our players looked totally knackered. This despite the fact we had lost the league in January and were out of the domestic cups by Feb so we hadn;t played as many high intensity games as Chelsea or Man U.

Benitez needs to choose his best 11 and play it as often as possible like Mourinho does. Resting players now and again is common sense, but not like he was doing at the start of this season with a different 11 every game. That's Claudio Ranieri tinkerman stupidity is all it is.
