Fowler's last game at Anfield on Sunday
Liverpool Football Club have confirmed that Robbie Fowler will be leaving at the end of the season, but Rafa Benitez has confirmed that God will play and sunday against Charlton, and that he hopes he scores for one last time at Anfield.
Fowler left Anfield in 2001 to join Leeds after falling out with then manager Gerard Houiller, and the only goodbye he got was a small note in the matchday program, and Rafa signed him again in January 2005 from Man City, however this time Rafa Benitez has said that Fowler will play at Charlton, despite his contract not being renewed at the end of the season.
Pretty much every Liverpool fan would have hoped for one more year for Fowler , but with Voronin already on his way in, and Benitez likely to sign another striker, God's time is up.
Speaking about Fowler, Benitez said "I hope Robbie can score a goal in front of The Kop. That would be a good way for him to say goodbye to the supporters,"
"I want to say thank you to Robbie. He will play on Sunday and it's good the fans will have a chance to see him at Anfield before he leaves us.
"We had a good meeting and he understood the situation. He's been a good signing for us and, of course, there are still two games left so his time at Liverpool is not over yet.
"I know how much he means to the club and the fans so it will be a special day for him on Sunday."

FAREWELL ROBBIE!
i knew it was coming, but im still devastated to see the news of Robbies departure.
May i just say a big thank you for everything you have done for liverpool football club! your name will forever be in our hearts & be sung on the Kop!
but just one thing before you go robbie, i want to see you life that cup on May 23rd!
all the best
steve coyne
Fowler
Fowler scored 2 goals in my first Liverpool game at Anfield, when we beat Leeds 3-0 in 1996 in the FA Cup, what a night that was, and i was fortunate enough to be there on his return against Birmingham, and his first goal since signing again against Fulham. Ill be there on sunday , and like everyone else, i hope he gets in the final squad, so he can pick up a Champions League winners medal
Gremio
I have heard from friends in Brazil and also from the media on TV, that Gremio Midfielder Lucas has signed for us.
He is another Alonso type player. More offensive than Mascherano, but do we need ANOTHER midfielder? He is the Brazilian U-20 Captain and a very promising player. Anyone who plays FM will know of him
I don't even know how true this is yet, but I wouldn't mind it, he is a quality player.
Anyone else heard of anything about this?
Don't see the point of
Don't see the point of Fowler hanging around actually, if Liverpool have the money to push on and get better 4th choice strikers then why not?
Read about Lucas as well -
Read about Lucas as well - reportedly paying 8mil for him. Strange choice unless someone's leaving. Four midfielders sounds about right though, consider that Gerrard is probably never playing in the middle ever again.
fowler
you dont see the point in robbie hanging around you idiot mr ahmed he is a legend to us reds scousers your not from liverpool you do not understand you have to be born there to know what i am saying ireckon they should have kept him i will miss him as he will allways be a liverpool player to me good luck rob you ll never walk alone
Rouman there is no
Rouman there is no need calling Ahmed an idiot. He was stating his opinion freely.
I highly doubt that your even from liverpool but thats not the bloody point.
Im not from liverpool either , but i make the effort of supporting my team by driving 4 1/2 hours up north just to watch them play in anfield and drive 4 1/2 hours back down.
I have plenty of friends from liverpool too and all of them know where and when to use a FULLSTOP!!
BULLSH@T ASIDE...Good luck robbie fowler , you were an asset to our team and you will always be remembered just like good old dudek. Good luck to them both and hope they have a great game on sunday.
Dudek
Dudek might not play, depends if he shakes off an injury or not
robbie
i'm a born and bred scouser who lives in cambridgeshire and i love robbie fowler, always have, always will. Rafa doesn't do sentimental, his main concern is the team, not any individual. Robbie has had 18mths bk at anfield, something we all never thought we'd see again. His best days are gone, he'll be 1st to admit that. But he can still do a job in the team and is an ideal sub. I would love to see robbie, carra and stevie g holding that european cup on may 23rd and what a way for robbie to bow out.
Liverpool are moving into an exciting new era and who knows, robbie mite b part of that in the future working in amongst the backroom staff. So thanks robbie, nobody expected you to return, we love ya! YNWA.
flags for robbie
Presumably there will be some great flags flying for Robbie on Sunday and hope Robbie does get a chance to win the Champions league before he leaves.
scouse4life
he is a idiot and iwas born in liverpool ask any true red you have to be born and bred a scouser to understand and iam aseason ticket holder have been since the 70s ido not understand you cockneys you have enough teams down south your fans not scousers and there is a diffrence acockney is a cocney no matter if hes a liverpool fan
well done Robbie
Well done Robbie!
goodbye
its sad 2c robbie go but i thought he never really had that many games since he came back dont know what u ppl think goodbye & good luck
G-O-D
It's better to see Robbie moving on so he can play football and hopefully get a bit of first team action. He should never have left Liverpool in the first place and seeing him leave again is devastating. If all goes well on the 23rd id love to see Robbie getting a run out in Athens, even if it is just for the last minute or so! I want to see him holding that trophy above his head!
Robbie Fowler has and always will be a Liverpool player not matter where he goes or what he does!!!!!!!
am i the only
hi i just wanna know am i the only woman on this site ?? & the rest of u ppl are guys??also i had been reading when fowler returned he was taking over rushies shirt number but fowler is no9 & rush was no7 or am i wrong?? please let me know
Sorry luv your wrong
Dont know if your the only woman, but Ian Rush had the No 9 shirt.
Ok bringing up
Ok brining up Ian Rush ..who was the better player to wear the number 9 shirt.Him or Robbie fowler..and why didnt we scrap the number nine shirt when rushie left ...he too was a great lfc legend.
But the whole issue about scrapping a specific number would possibly be out of the question with the F.A ....FIFA didnt allow it when argentina wanted to scrap the number 10 of diego armando maradona <<
Sorry to see a legend leave.
Sorry to see a legend leave. But Robbie's injuries over the years are finally telling. He has more class and skill than the rest of the squad. It's unfortunate that he can't get more games because his legs can't keep up with the play. Whatever his decision on his future, wether it's retirement or playing elsewhere, good luck to him. Lets hope there's a couple more goals for LFC in his near future.
ok
ok i thought i got it wrong dont know where i got no7 from
#9
http://www.lfchistory.net/stats_shirtnumbers.asp gives a good roundup of the #9 shirt
Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Nicolas Anelka, El Hadji Diouf, Djibril Cissé
If anyone earned #9 it was Robbie, looking at the others who had it (Diouf ) I think he's done a good job and will go down as an anfield legend
Hi scouser4life
I have to disagree with you on your view of a true Red, Myself and my eldest son Patrick have been true Reds all our lives travelling over and back from Ireland... He Died on me 2 years ago on the night of the 25th may while watching his beloved Reds win their 5th European Cup, He watched them win but died from a blood clot just before Stevie lifted the Cup.... Now I go into another final this one with him beside me only in spirit.... Our beloved Liverpool Crest sits proud on his Headstone and his Heroes shirt sits close by with the letters FOWLER printed on the back so let me tell you tomorrow when I see our great Hero for the last time on the sacred soil of Anfield it will be a very emotional time for me... So please and Im sure you did not mean anything by it dont insult us by saying that you have to be from liverpool to be a true RED!!!! PADDY YNWA
You're not alone!
I'm female! I was worried for AGES I was the only woman on here but it's nice to know I'm not. Go Redmen and sad goodbyes to Fowler, God of Anfield
paddy
hey i am sorry about your son and the message was for scouser 4 life from me rouman i did not mean to upset my irish freinds you liverpool surporters infact is it not true that liverpool is the capital of ireland my mother is irish its just the london reds some of the things they come out with about fowler makes my blood boil what i said to him i meant but like you paddy i will feel emotional tomorrow for it the last time robbie plays in red at anfield i will be gutted somethink scouse 4 life could not understand paddy how can a cockney be called scouse 4 life is he ashamed of being a londoner him and his friend hamed just made me angry with the coments they made about fowler yes we are all alloud are own opinions but to insult fowler to me is a sin so paddy i am sorry the message was never meant for people like you ynwa
Paddy my fellow red
Paddy my fellow red...On the contrary i never mentioned having to be from liverpool meant that you were a true red ..Im not from liverpool and i consider myself a true red.It wasnt me who mentioned it..it was rouman (yes im pointing fingers)
Im so sorry to hear about your loss paddy..i hope you have the strength in you to carry on..and know that whoever has read your comment will pray for your son and know that he will never walk alone.
And rouman ...im not cockney u imbacile ...im half iraqi half spanish so its either i bomb on ur ass or i piss sangria all over you...so shut ur uneducated pie hole would u.
not alone
im a girl too, but have to say i wasn't worried about being the onl female...men talk more sense when it comes to football anyway!!!
that explains it
half iraqisay no more and pal you have no chance i chew you up and spit you out as far as being un educated pal i probally have more brains than you will ever have and a better job and money mug still got to be lucky i am not a jerk like you
LOL
LOL Rouman...nuff said mate. (.)thats a full stop , its not hard ..just a tiny dot..the size of ur brain.

yea time, to stop i havenot got a full stop small enough on my laptop to compare. your brain size so i will leave it there. by the way you said , you are not a cockney / londoner. well you live up south. and i never asked were your mum and dad came from. it is were, you were born. so donot hide your mum and dad you had better go the green bus, is outside wating for you.
Born in ...
Born in sevilla if u have heard of it ..nice place to be honest.Oh yeah didnt u say u had a season ticket or what not ?? ...how come your home so early then eh ??
You kinda remind me of Eric cantona in that press conference after he beat up the fan ..u know he was talking about the seagulls and how they did whatever...yeah so the point is ...ur making no sense mate ...so would you start talking some sense yeah and talk real football instead of "trying " to insult me and my culture ...or are u just a racist, or are u just a wannabe scouser hmm?I can see why you would want to be a real scouser..I would to but im not..but they show me the respect because I support them like crazy.
Something football related....
Great to see harry kewell hasnt lost his touch ..not only that anyone else see the mancs flag
"fergie 9
liverpool 0" dont they know they just changed the name and its
liverpool 18
Manure 16 ??
thanks robbie
being a "true red" born and bred living in the south east but born in bootle can i comment on robbie or don't i qualify? come on you lot, stop this tit-for-tat for fuck's sake!
today we said goodbye to a liverpool legend. robbie epitimises everything about being a scouser. working-class kid done good, where's his heart on his sleeve and stays loyal to his home. (come on, when he sat there at the elland road press conference in 2001 he still wanted that red shirt on his back!). i just hope he can go out with a champions league winners medal and what a way to go out to!
as for man ure well! er, if my memory serves me correctly we have 18 LEAGUE TITLES not 0! and you have 16 not 9! so the MANC TWAT who had that sign up in castle greyskull today reads this learn your history pal, and you will see ours is better than yours and always will be dickhead!
so all liverpool fans come on! we are just 10days, 10DAYS away from our 7th european cup final. stop this silly bickering on here and get behind the reds and paddy if you read this pal we'll all dedicate it to your son mate when number6 comes home! you will never, ever walk alone and neither will he.
ok
first of all scouser 4 life, iam sorry for calling you a cockney. so your spanish, and no i am no racist. like you my pearents are not english my dads french and my mum is irish and iwas born in liverpool i do have a season ticket i use my laptop , for work so its, allays in my car. so ican use it whenever i need too. yes i know sevilla iam, in the process of buying a house in berji in almeria i love the place once again i am sorry i will leave you, with this message april 15th was infamous day of hillsborough, take the word april spell it backwards. l=london, i= istanbul,r = rome, p = paris,a = athens. all the places liverpool have won the europeancup.take 15th 1plus 5 = 6 by anychance.
Robbie Fowler (and Paddy)
Thanks Robbie for all the goals, legend you are, one thing I wish is for you to get a Champions League WINNERS medal.
Paddy if you read this, sorry about your son, and its true what Richie Dutton says 10 days to go, lets all pull together and get behind the RED MEN and not slag each other off.
Come on you REDS!!!!
Fowler
Fowler is a legend!
there would be another "GOD" at Anfield
Yes, fowler is a legend!!, and as a big fans of him and this club it makes me really happy to see that finally he has a decent chance to say goodbye to the supporters, and i'm sure there would be another local boy who could be the next "God" and inspires and entertain us as fowler did to us in the past
dudek
I hope dudek plays,I know he's made some awful blunders but he did stop shevo's shot's and pirlo's and many more since the 5 years he's been at the kop and his departing words on the liverpool fc website moved me.I was really touching on how he said he could never again walk down the tunnel and want liverpool to loose.I hope he gets to play one last time as a final farewell. He's not a legend like god but he has still been a hero! And since he said he's a liverpool fan he needs support!People might not be a fan and think he's a flop and needs to be thrown out in place of a better keeper but i think dudek has heart and he has liverpool heart.
To Jerzy and Robbie...you'll never walk alone...ever and i wish you all the luck with your future.
