Neill snubs Liverpool for more money at West Ham

Lucas Neill has turned his back on a move to Anfield, opting to join relegation battlers West Ham for more money.
Neill's agent confirmed : "Lucas has agreed terms on a two-and-a-half year deal with West Ham and is looking forward to the challenge ahead,"
Liverpool nearly signed the Australian International in the summer, but Blackburn wanted more money and Stephen Warnock for their captain, but no move happened. Since the transfer window opened in January we have been linked with him on a regular basis, then West Ham came in with a late offer for Neill which left him deciding if to go for more money and face a relegation battle, or join the club he claimed it would be a dream move to sign for?
Rafa Benitez is clearly not happy with the latest developments, and is ready to look elsewhere for cover for Steve Finnan in the right back position.
“We are continuing working on these things but we will not wait. If a player wants to come to play for Liverpool, he must say yes quickly,”
“If he thinks about it for too long, maybe it’s a signal it’s time for us to look for other players. We have alternatives.”

Attitude
His move to West Ham just shows that he has the wrong attitude. Some of the foreign players would rather play near the bright lights of London and collect a hefty pay check on top of it. I'd rather not see players like that come to LFC. No heart or soul. He basically used us a bargaining tool to earn more money elsewhere. Would only have been cover for Steve Finnan anyway. Who according to premier league stats is the 2nd highest ranking defender in the league so far this season. We're just gonna have to look somewhere else for cover.
Volz
In a strange sort of way, im not suprised at Lucas Neill doing this sort of thing. I was always suspect of his attitude, now hes shown his true colours by abandoning his "dream move" by moving to West Ham. It goes to show what a money grabbing bastard he really is, what we want are players who would feel proud to wear the red jersey. Rafa says he has other alternatives, well maybe he could look at Stevie Finnans old club Fulham and maybe put in an offer for Moritz Volz, he is having an excellent season at right back and at only 23 looks an excellent prospect to provide cover and take over from Finnan
Potential
Volz has potential, but at his age he needs to be playing regular first team football.
First Team Football
True, maybe Volz does need to be playing regulary but with 87 appearances already for Fulham, maybe its no harm for Rafa to enquire about him. I mean of the other alternatives Alves has signed a new deal with Seville, the "infamous" Luke Young is going through his inconsistent stages, so who else does that leave? At 23 Volz has got excellent experience under his belt, so maybe it might'nt be no harm for Rafa to put in an offer for him, what other right backs are there out there to go for????
Loan
Could always buy him and Loan him back out with the option of calling him back if needed. Chelsea own Alex, the PSV centre back, and have a similar deal with him. If he's willing to stay and play as Finnan's understudy it could be a good deal.

We've got a right back called Steve Finnan, as Phil says he would be sitting on the bench covering anyway

Paletta on the Right??
I did not really care we sgn Neil or not, coz he would have been a waste of money, coz a soon as the takeover will take place lfc will have the money to take a better player than him to put there. So in the meantime may be if we ever needed cover we can try to put Palletta on the right side to see how he does against some lowly teams, may be that post can give him a bit more of experience, anybody can remember, even carragher started by the left side, so why risk playing paletta in central defence if he is not able to defend on the laterals. Liverpool need complete players who can do anything in the team!!
Just look at Arsenal, 3 of their defenders scored against liverpool at Emirates stadium, thats a characteristic of a professional player!! SO WHY CAN'T OUR DEFENDERS DO THE SAME?? AND BE COMPLETE PLAYERS ABLE TO PLAY ANY POST!!

Neill Shmeill
Do we really want Lucas Neill now? Yes, he's a good player when he wants to be, but he is another money-bags player selling out to go to West "Flash the Cash" Ham.
Let him go, he would only cover Finnan. Neill is a headline grabber. There are 2 ways to be a headline grabber, play unbelievably or play horrifically, and for Lucas Neill it is 50/50. He is a bit prone for cards and considering that our defense barely has a yellow so far this season I don't think he would do us any good.
Keep Finnan, try another RB as cover but nothing drastic.
Lucas Neill is just following the way now, going to a club who offer the money. He is over-priced IMO, as are many players at the minute. I mean, Ashley Young is £6mil?? When did that happen. What is even more ridiculous is that David Nugent is valued at £10mil. I mean, Liverpool bought Kuyt for that amount of money, and he is playing incredibly.
Teams like Chelsea and United are ruining the Premiership by buying players who they can afford, whether they are any good or not. That is the thing with Rafa, he is one of the best at buying players.
I mean, look Shevchenko, Ballack, Cashley Cole for Chelski; not exactly living up to their huge price tags? And what about Carrick, yeah £18mil and he scores his first goal last week. I know its not all about goals, but his passing isn't anything superb, I'd have Alonso anyday over him, far better.

we needed a striker that does goals to great as they man united, chelsea and arsenal to him. Strikers like Darrent Bent, Ashley Young and Michael Owen.

Not worth it, people have to remember that he still played for Watford, a Championship side, and was bought for near £10mil?!
Kuyt cost £10mil, and I can tell you now that Ashley Young will never achieve what Kuyt has in his career.

We seriously do not need anyone at this stage of the season. Like Rafa say, it is virtually impossible to sign the best players so we might as well stick to what we have.
Signing new players would also meant they need to adjust or adapt and I'd really hate another case of Morientes!

We should by nobody, we don't need any player right now, sissoko is coming back next week, we just need to keep building the team spirit and get everybody capable of scoring, EVEN Reina if possible :))
As for the cover for Finnan i don't thinks its that urgent, the lad has not shown sign of weakening, and we already has lots of defenders, we can play with 3 central defenders if needed... rather than getting players not really to the esteem of that post in lfc.

We did not need lucas niell anyway, I don't think that he is worth all the hype and if he is going to the hammers for more money then we're better off without him. Someone who Would rather earn more money than more success doesn't deserve to play for a higher rank team
