Rafa insists Crouch not for sale, and denies Villa interest

Rafa Benitez has insisted Peter Crouch is not for sale, and also rubbished reports claiming Liverpool were after David Villa .
Crouch has been in the headlines , with papers linking him to Newcastle, but Benitez has re-iterated the fact that he is NOT for sale.
"I have seen the stories in the press saying that we need to sell Crouch to raise the money to sign Villa. I can tell you now we are not interested in Villa.
"I think he is a fantastic player but at this moment we are not thinking about signing him and that means we are not thinking about selling Crouch."
One site even went as far as saying we were going to pay £100million for Villa, despite the fact we have not been taken over, and we still have the same board who would not add extra funds to sign Alves for around £12million, so it does not take a genius to see that its just rumours, nothing more.
Besides, why would we want to sell our top scorer this season?

i think personally that peter crouch shuld not leave liverpool because he is a great player and scores goals (lots of them) wich is good and also wins games. oh yeah and tell him 2 eat a bit more food hes proper lanky

Well said, Crouch is the Top scorer, BUT against wat kind of teams??? Watford? Charlton? Wigan? or what??????
He certainly has not scored against any big teams since playing for liverpool in the premier league.
So if we want to keep Crouch in liverpool so it will be Better to remove teams like ManUtd, chelsea, arsenal, totenham.. and replace them by some second division teams so that we can see him scores more goals and get liverpool the title!!

I don't see the point in criticising Crouch because he is scoring against lower league opposition, at least he is scoring.
You say that we should get Fowler cloned (I notice the obvious sarcastic nature of this statement), but do you think that Fowler is producing the goods against the big teams?
Also if you look at the stats, Crouch is scoring the most goals per game than any other player.
He has found it more difficult this year because of the introduction of paced players like Bellamy and Kuyt, who are showing a good partnership, but as the game on Saturday showed, it is a good idea to have 3 strikers on the pitch at the same time.
The stats don't lie, Crouch didn't score a hat-trick for England by accident. Crouch isn't playing for a championship contending team by mistake, and he most certainly isn't the top scorer for a championship team by mistake. Crouch deserves his place and I don't want to see him go, at least not yet.

hmmm, what was the score against mannure in the fa cup..oh yes 1-0 and oh oh crouch scored...but i see ur point in him not scoring against the big teams ...missed some real sitters against chelsea when we lost 1-0 but all in all still scoring goals even if its against weak sides ..but have any of our other players scored against the big sides .

I was Crouch's worst critic last year as I believed he was way out of his depth. However, this year the lad has scored goals and no one can deny him that. Credit where credit is due.
He is not good enough to be in the starting 11 of a championship wining team but he is an excellent player to have on the bench that'll play for 20 mins and start the odd game against lowly opposition. As long as he accepts how lucky he is to be at Anfield and get on the pitch even for 20 mins every week in a Red shirt, then he is a useful weapon.

If rafa don't buy Villa, maybe he is not a good manager... He cannot compare how skillful villa is... Crouch is only in air... but Villa can do anything. He has pace, skill and of course shoot!

Crouch is no top scorer, its the ball that hits his head to get in the goal, and not him who scores!!
And unfortunately that occurs only against useless teams without defence! he is no good in the air, he ahs no pace to reach the ball, no energy to jump, fall down easily!
Either he improves himself drastically and starts by scoring against Chelsea to bring us a Win OR we sell him!!!
May the 3rd option still remains valid....we remove top teams from premier league and replace them by watfords, charltons...

Yeah we heard you the first time. Get Villa, Get Villa. GET REAL. Valencia are hardly going to let one of there best players go halfway through the season. They want to win things too. They bought Joaquin during the summer for £20m, does that sound like a team you can just walk up to and say "gimme that player". Lets buy Torres, Shevchenko, Eto'o, Ronaldinho and while we're at we should buy Pele, Cruyff, Maradonna, Bobby Moore, Beckenbauer and Puskas. Sorry this isn't the playstation.

I hope rafa rebuilds the team in the summer. players like garcia,sami,finnan,zenden,warnock,fowler to be sold or given free bosman's. rafa's new signings shud be QUALITY players like miguel,andrade or king, abidal,swp,appaih,duff,bent. hope this takeover by this dubai group, is done asap, so rafa can splash the cash in the summer.

He is one of the most prolific right back and has also been voted by millions of football fans for that, may be we should wait till we get more money and get him instead of wasting money on useless and unprofessional players like Lucas neil!!! the greedy players has no place at anfield!!
Once we get the money from DIC we should get lahm to play as cover for finnan, and lennon on right wing and well reknown striker, may be JVH and the liverpool puzzle will be almost complete to get the premier league trophy back to where it belongs ANFIELD!!
