Rafa unsure which strikers to pick

rafabenitez3 Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez says that his strikers are giving him a headache as he does not know who to pick to play.

Both Fowler and Bellamy scored twice this week, and Dirk Kuyt has been on form recently, creating goals for the team, along with Crouch doing well when he gets a game, leaving Rafa with a selection problem:

"It's important for the strikers to score goals and also it gives me a headache over which ones to use.

"Bellamy and Fowler both scored two goals this week, Kuyt is also scoring and Crouch is playing well. But these are the kinds of problems you like.

"Robbie is a very good finisher and if the team is playing well, creating chances, we will score goals when he is there. But I can say the same about Bellamy, Crouch and Kuyt."

Go on Rafa - try a 4-3-3

Start with 3 strikers, there's your dilemna sorted :)

It's glory round the fields of Anfield Road

i agree with FOAR we need 2

i agree with FOAR we need 2 start with 3 strikers and 3 at the back.

Crouch , fowler and kuyt.

But if we get a new owner maybe ronaldinho cpould start instead of fowler.

It's an easy Choice, bellamy

It's an easy Choice, bellamy and kuyt, they are the two LFC need to hit top form and start developing an almost telepathic understanding of each others game, because fowler and crouch are more effective if the wingers are supplying them, nothing wrong with that but i would rather bring them on than start with them, after the wigan game bellamy should definitely start, but who knows with rafa and the way he sometimes thinks (good problem too have though), what we need is goals and plenty of them now and over christmas, so whoever he plays i hope someone gets on the score sheet.

3-3-2-2

Easy...keep the back central 3 defenders... put alonso in front of them with both Finnan and Riise as wing backs..,,, Steven G can have freedom in front of Alonso but more to the right and bellamy to the left... up front fowler and Kuyt....crouchie is nursing some back problems.... but he is an option we can use when we fail to break down defences after the hour mark.... this formation gives us a good defence cos we have enough cover behind alonso and alonso can dictate matches sitting back... while stevie g can do his best at running at defences... meanwhile.. both finnan and riise offer defensive cover on the wings and with overlapping runs, they provide width and are great crossers of the ball... our only weak part would be bellamy who is a workhorse... playing out of his favoured position where he is almost always caught off side in.... so less offsides... and better link up play with the forwards.

--------------Reina----------------
----Carra-----Hyypia------Agger----
Finnan--------Alonso----------Riise
------Stevie G-------Bellamy/Speedy
----------Kuyt-----God-------------

Carra is a natural right footer while Agger is a natural left footer... Both these two give Hyypia some cover in terms of pace... while Hyypia with his exceptional reading of the game can deal with aerial threats all day long.

Cisse Hat-trick Saves Marseille !

SCOUSE4LIFE1979's picture

France international Djibril Cisse scored a hat-trick to save Marseille from an embarrassing Coupe de France defeat at Cambrai on Saturday.

When Julien Bailleul equalised Cisse's opener to take the game into extra time it looked as though the town more famous for its first World War battlefields than its football was scenting a famous victory against the Mediterranean giants.

However, on-loan Liverpool striker Cisse added two more goals and then Toifilou Maoulida added another as Marseille ran out 4-1 winners.

Marseille included France World Cup star Franck Ribery in their line-up and his brother Francois featured in one of the shocks of the night.

Glad he's doing well. It's amazing that hes had both legs broken in the past year or so yet here he is scoring a hat trick to save Marseilles.

It's either gonna see us keep him after the loan finishes or it's going to increase his value when we do sell.

Good luck to him

I can't see him (cisse) coming back as it seems as though either the board or Rafa didn't like him, shame still! He had pace to burn and a venomous shot and i'm sure he'll do very well where ever he ends up, as you said though i'm sure it should increase his valuation which will be good for us in the transfer window. It seems like there is an anfield curse as good players come here and fail to realize their potential (pongolle / le tallec / morientes / cisse .. i'll stop now) This dosen't bode well for the future as if i was a young and up and coming player i wouldn't be too quick to sign on the dotted line.
