Alonso : Champions league will be exciting
Xabi Alonso says the Champions League will be exciting now that Liverpool might been seen as underdogs, as some of the biggest teams in Europe are through to the next round.
Alonso admits when the Reds won the European Cup in 2005, that they were not favourites to win, but that is what spurs the team on, and is looking forward to the draw. Alonso also said that last night's defeat to Galatasary did not matter to the team:
"The result didn't really matter because we'd already done the job, but we still wanted to win, Overall, maybe they were better on the night, but now we'll think about the next round and the Premiership.
"We know whoever we get in the next round will be really tough but it will also be exciting. You can see the teams who will be involved and how strong those who finished in second are.
"We'll have to be ready. Real or Barcelona could be the next game, but we've played a few games in Spain in the last few years and always won there, so if we meet either of those clubs we'll know it will be a massive game for the club, but we'll see.
"When we won in 2005, we were never favourites in any game we played, and depending on the draw that maybe the case again, which could suit us. It was definitely good the year we won it when everyone thought we would lose to Juve and then Chelsea and Milan. I hope that would be a good omen for us."

We will win
We have proven in the past that we can compete with the big boys, But we ARE the big boys of Europe now, you dont win it by luck!
Over the course of the Euro win we beat difficult teams, Leverkusen were doing well, we went to their ground and stuffed them.
Juventus were easily brushed aside thanks to King Luis and Sami! Chelsea just could not handle the big occasion, facing the crowd that night at Anfield, all we need is another one of them nights to scare the opposition!

You'll never walk alone
Knockout
The kockout stages are great. It's much better since they got rid of that 2nd group phase. I was at the 2005 CL semi-final in Anfield. The atmosphere was amazing, walking through Stanley park 45 minutes before kick off and hearing the crowd already singing. The Chelsea players looked scared warming up and scared before kick off. We're the best fans in the world. Come Red men, give us another reason to sing like that again.
good feeling
i've got a feeling we will something this season. the premiership is out of reach but i know we'll win something. after all Liverpool produce the most exciting finals as we well know, they have to go all the way. The fan's need to get right behind the team and sing them to victory. As a wise woman once said "COME ON LET'S BE HAVIN' YOOOOOOU!!!"
Wise woman???
Delia wasn't too wise that night. Norwich went on to lose that game with Robbie Fowler scoring the decisive goal. Oh yeah they also got relegated. Mrs. Smith was more than a bit drunk during her halftime ramblings.
point
She had a point though
