Why is the new stadium taking so Long
The new season started last weeked with Arsenal playing in their fantastic stadium which got me thinking... Can we afford so stay at Anfield bearing in mind our three main contenders?
Man united can cram in an extra 30,000 more fans in a week than we can and Arsenal 15,000 more. At the average seat price of £30 per seat Arsenal would make £10 million plus more than us on gate receipts alone and that's even before you go down the thousands of extra corporate seats.
These extra returns effectivelty pay for an extra player in the summer as well as giving us a new great stadium and allowing more fans to get to the games.
Obviously the process costs a fortune and is very lengthy but there must be things we can do to speed the process up. How about something I saw a while back someone suggesting that we let people put their names on a brick to be built into the fabric of the stadium and charge a £100 a time or similar? I bet there would be plenty of takers on that..
So the question is …not can we afford a new ground…but can we afford not to have a new one…just something to think about on a Monday afternoon

liverpool being left behind
couldnt agree more.
even look at the reebok stadium, built years ago..looks the part..good road links and parking.
The complete opposite to Anfield, an older stadium, inaccessible and an absolute pig to park at.
Every time I drive past Trafford and see more work going on I get green with envy especially after seeing the gooners' new stadium.
Hopefully if we can get 60,000+ capacity there will be more tickets (and season tickets available) and whilst the original Kop can never be replaced I'm sure the fans will have a good go if there are half as many again in the same stadium
visit from states
I want to visit Liverpool next August from New York and would like to see your beloved Reds. Are the fixtures for August, 2007 set any earlier than June/July, 2007? Is there a way to find out when Liverpool is playing at home in August, 2007 earlier in the Spring so I may plan my trip?
Thanks
Didi Hamann
I said when we sold the great German Didi that we'd regret it. Now Sissoko is injured we have no specialised cover.
Gerrard and Alonso leave the defence wide open against quality sides. Zenden was a winger; he's hardly a midfield ball winner.
We have no one and Didi the great is being wasted at Man City. Get him back in January, Rafa!
The Kaiser
If Haman had played the full match against Milan we would't have needed extra time!! What a great assett he would be now. However Rafa could not know Momo would get injured, but perhaps he could be picked up, like Robbie, in January?George

why
why are we losing? gerard doesnt wanna play on the right hes not a right winger gerard hasnt got skill to go past players... pennant hes a natrul right winger why not play him???? crazy. then zenden. hes not work a place on the bench. out of 10 for zenden ???? 2 and thats alot for his perfomance MANAger maybe 3
answering ur questions maybe
__to answer the question of why we are losing, well its obvious our team isnt as good as the others (mancs gooners chelski).when they play they play with heart and want to win every games.when we play we play with heart at home coz the lads are afraid we will boo them or something absurd like that.Im afraid we are out of the title race no matter what.Just look at the mancs goal scoring record.and they lost van nistelrooy too.is it luck , i dont think so.just like the rest of the teams they had enough of chelskis domintation of the game and want to put an end to it.Thats what our players should be like .i really thought this season would be ours and it was our turn to shine, but when momo got injured i new or hoped gerrard would play where he is comfortable and thats in the bloody middle.I mean why the bloody hell by a right winger and keep him on the bench.Im not saying this would of changed the outcome of the game , but it might of made us look less embarassing and yes we were .The most agonising games were the arsenal, man u and everton games where are lads played like crap.I mean come on people 1 goal in 6 away games is really sad, bloody hell one point too.So for f**ks sake someone tell rafa that if stevie isnt playing in the middle he is gonna leave us and believe me he will.Is rafa trying to drive him away or what .Bloody hell man u have two good wingers both right and left , play them and see how it turns out,but who am i kidding , its not like rafa is gonna read this ,im just going to drive myself into an early stroke with all the talk and heartache.Am i calling for rafas head , yes i am , im calling for his bloody head to be examined !!

have i missed anything
But Rafa's man management and stubburness will be the undoing of all of that. It seems something which made rafa a winner in spain has been lost in the translation... thats not a criticsm but things like that happen. It's time for honesty from everyone associated with liverpool football club because we aren't the force we once were and past reputation is fast fading!!! We no longer have the sort of money afforded to going out and buying 2/3 world class players, but hey thats what happens when u give dodgy managers millions! so we have to percievr and nurture what we have. that includes keeping possible the best midefielder in the world happy and confident in the squad. steven gerrard is an idol to the majority of fans but he is only human and is driven by the same passion and desires of all top footballers.. he wants to win. Shearer was a one off, he stayed at newcastle and won jack shit, the game has changed top players are less likely to do that, simple!
it won't be long before mourinhos words begin to burn stevie and he'll feel he has no alternative but to turn his bk on the club which he no doubt loves because they can't match his ambition. It doesn't take a genius to work out that there is something fundemantally wrong with the squad. It's not a question of physical ability it's even worse... mentality!!How many times have we gone bhehind just before the break and rafa has to deliver a talk and g up the lads and perhaps send on some fresh legs. he does this and 95% of the time we loose!! what that tells me is that the players no longer believe his directions/ instructions will lead em out of the danger zone.. the very essence of being a manager. so if they aren't convinced by him and his tactics are blatantly a joke, what purpose does he serve as liverpool manager??
I can't bury my head in the sand... so what is this it we just ahve to accept that we are no longer tittle contenders and we should be happy with champions league each year. If thats the case those who
Daniel Alves
Rafa has made a lot of mistakes in the Premiership (not even getting a draw at Utd, Arse of Chelski away in the Prem is a joke) but the problems at Liverpool FC go beyond the manager.
Realistically, he has spent no more in 3 years than Martin Jol at Spurs. Yet he is expected to challenge for or win the league ahead of Chelsea's millions and Man Yoo's vastly experienced manager who knows Premiership football like the veins in his wrist. Add to this mix Wenger's 10 years experience in the Prem and also the fact Arsenal do not have the same intense pressure as Liverpool FC because we are a more prestigious and bigger club globally. Also, they are not waiting 17 years for the title.
Therefore, Rafa needs real qaulity players to achieve this goal of Premiershop Champions. The likes of Ballack and co.. should have been on our summer list. But the Liverpool board can't give any manager the funds to buy world class players so we buy the likes of Pennant and co.. who are decent but not top class. Then when the pressure at a huge club becomes too much for the decent but not top class player we blame the manager for buying them.
But Rafa wanted Daniel Alves and we didn't get him. Why? Couldn't afford it. That's fair enough, but until we can afford it then we have no more right to compete with Chelsea for the title than Martin Jol; and no one expects him to win the league. We need a new chairman with money and ideas. For too long we've been winning cups but our lack of wuality comes through in the league every year and we can;t even be in a title fight come April.
When we won the European Cup in '05 even most Liverpool fans admitted it was a pure fluke with our players. Remember the days when we won the European Cup because we actually were the best team in Europe? They grow further away while Parry and Moores remain.
Alonso is the Problem !!
I've said this in the past but I got no response, but Xabi Alonso is not worth his place in the liverpool midfield !!?
He cannot tackle, he doesn't strive forward and he doesn't score apart from the odd wonder goal!
I personally think he is perfectly suited to spanish football so why not sell him now to Madrid for big money and use the cash to buy a big name left or right winger, which we are desperatly crying out for !!!!!!!!!!!!
The Chilean is crap
Alonso out !!
I agree; he'll have to be
I agree; he'll have to be sold in the summer if he doesn't start scoring goals. He is a lovely player to watch but his end product is weak compared to Gerrard, Lampard etc.. from the same position. If he plays alongside a sitting player like he usually does then he has to get forward and score regularly. Like Xavi at Barcelona, however, he just seems to want to sit and pass. That's fine when Gerrard or Kuyt score but when they don't Xabi isn't much help getting us back into a game. He should be but he isn't.
We have midfield players like Alonso, Sissoko, Pennant, Zenden and Gonzales who never score goals. They never have scored many in their careers. We only have Gerrard and Garcia from our entire midfield squad who are reliable goalscorers. (Kewell was even better than Zenden and Gonzales and Pennant.) Until we have a midfield who are capable of scoring in any game at any time then we will struggle to win matches because we rely on only 2 or 3 players to score regularly.
Finnan needs to be pushed for his place too as his form has been average yet he still plays. Hyppia seems to be over the hill but I'm not sure Agger/Carragher will win a title next year as our central defence. But there's no point bringing in another 5 or 6 new players and waiting for them to settle.
Buy one WORLD CLASS player next summer for our midfield and never mind all these damn 'squad' players at 5 or 6 million a piece. And get rid of Zenden; he could never hack it at a big club which is why Barce and little Chelsea got shut of him. Only at Boro was he of any use. I wonder why?
New stadium
I don't care what Mr Moores and Parry have to say about finances; building a new stadium isn't worth it if it can only hold 15,000 extra seats. You're as well off to charge more for tickets now than go into debt for 15,000 extra seats in a cold new stadium.
Anfield is a worldwide mecca for football fans; you can't just leave it for a measly 15,000 seats.
A new stadium has to be AT LEAST 70,000 seats to give Liverpool FC the capacity a club of their stature deserves. Why can't Moores and Parry just go for it and build a 70,000 seater we can all be proud of!
Pack the midfield Rafa!
Chelksi bet Barcelona dis yr by pcking the midfield. Lst year dey played wide men and got rippd apart in the center.
Rafa shud pack the centre and break up der play then lit Alonso and Gerrard hit dem with balls over the top to Bellamy and Kuyt.

Barca are ready
Liverpool be prepared for a lesson in possession football. Like the England game last week only lethal finishing. Etoo and Messi are ready to shine.
Liverpool I'm sorry have no chance.
3-0 Barca.
Hey !!!
Something special happens when stevie pulls on that jerzey for European games... in fact the whole team!!!! We are such underdogs in this game that all the pressure is firmly on the Catalans and we'll just have to see about their mentality. We have some true anfield grit in Carra and Gerrard and we'll definetly give them a physical battle and as least time on the ball as poss... I've seen spanish teams get at Ronaldinho and he doesn't like it, always looking at the ref as if to say 'ain't u gonna give a foul?'
It's talk like that which may bite u on the arse
barca
show some respect we have beaten you before ronaldinho only plays for 5 mins then goes missing no way is he the best player in the world over rated messi yes iwould never swop sg 4 big teeth ronaldinho anyday he belongs in a circus thats why he chicked out signing 4man u scum cant handle pl i hope chelsea sign him lets see how long he lasts here no balls

This comment has been moved here.
harsh but fair
Jareel13 .. you can be harsh but you tell it how it is!! problems for Rafa problems or LFC .. who dose he buy thats truly world class that wants to come to anfield and won't eat up the entire transfer budget! But I'm afraid Rafa has made his bed by playing his weird smothering football that has become quite negative with emphasis on high balls ... so he must now go for players he can attract.
Dean ashton would be a quality signing as would be bent, but away from those 2 the pickings are slim.
Is there any quality striker out there?
yes, i agree perfectly with u that Bent would have been a far better signing..Its just like instead of Crouch had Rafa taken Andy johnson, liverpool would have been in much better positions in the league table right now, he need to take players who have already got the experience in the English league and who can score against any teams at anytime NOT just related teams!! Bent could have been that type of player, but its not gonna happen coz Rafa will keep his blind trust in crouch and now bringing Voronin..
So no good strikers at the horizon for liverpool on view!!
Bent not ready
I wouldn't sign Bent, he's not classy enough. It's a pity Dean Ashton is so injury prone because I think he has got a special talent and if he got a run in any side he'd score goals. Its been 10 years since someone has scored over 20 league goals for LFC. We need to break the bank and buy a really world class striker. I wonder if Barca would refuse £25 for Eto'o. The strong African strikers seem to perform well in the PL, Yakubu, Drogba and Martins being good examples.
20 goals a season
He would be an absolute dream signing that I'd take my hat of to, if Rafa can push a deal through. IF the papers are to be believed at all, his career over at the new camp seems numbered as if it's a toss up between Rikard and Ronaldinho vs Eto ... well the cameroon striker should pack his bags now. However I still wonder whether his style of play would suit that of Rafas and would he be up for the extra defensive duties that are required in the prem??
getting a 20 gaol a season striker is gonna be tough .... I really don't think you can even buy those anymore without heavy investment all over the team... New striker (if forigen) should be expected to get 13-15 in his first 2yrs after that we need to see his class!
it's weird now we actually have a bit of money so many other factors have to be accounted for... who'd wanna be a manger eh??
who would most of you guys like to see at the kop next summer, realistically!!
re: 20 goals a season
we have the player their now and his name is dirk kuyt. nxt season he will bang 20-goals in for the reds, that i am sure of.i have seen enough already this season to know he will do this. he loves lfc, the fans love dirk kuyt, enough said.......
Eto'o would be a great
Eto'o would be a great signing but I think he won't leave Barce so to me Fernando Torres is the type of young star in the mould of Rooney and Ronaldo that we need to sign.
Liverpool need a few "stars" to compete on the commercial level with the Scum.
Christian Chivu at Roma would complement Carragher at centre back and also Vicente of Valencia is a quality player when fit. We also need a quality right winger like Simao or Shaun Wright Phillips.
new players
eto would be good but i cannot see him leaving barca vicente we should get pure class simao is better than pennant and swp villa is good too better than torres his game is more suited to the prem ihope we keep robbie he can teach the strikers one more to help sg and alonso xabi if we had them we would be 10 points ahead of anyone get buying rafa
vincente
Vincente is a player of quality and he is on top of his game but again rafa would need to put his negotiating hat on to pull that off! We've been linked with Simoa before and perhaps this is the summer we'll have him. He's a wonderful little player full of technique and skill and can play any attacking position!! I really feel he'll set the prem a light. I feel pennant can become class but needs to work very very hard and give up the playboy life and not think that he's made it because he's at anfield. I really do believe next season Khuyt will be a 20 goal a season man and we have a legened in the making.... just as long as he gets the service and dosen't drop too deep! I've said it before but bent and ashton would really give us some variety up front and if kewell comes back and has a good run at the end of the season then perhaps we won't need another left sided winger.
Not long now lads!!
20+ league goals
It needs to be 20 or more goals in the league alone. If our main striker is selected as much as possible in the league he would probably make 32 out of 36 games. There is also a possibility of about 15 domestic cup games and 13 champions league games (not including the usual qualifying rounds). It's likely that our top scorer would be rested in domestic cups, as well as other top stars. So lets say he makes 46 apps. You'd hope, like most top strikers around europe, he'd be able to score 28 or more goals. A solid partnership with another forward should produce about 16 to 20 goals for the partner, with a backup forward chipping in with about 10. David Trezeguet and Miroslav Klose are regular scorers in domestic league competitions. Trezeguet is said to be disillusioned at Juve and Klose is a better choice than Voronin from the Bundesliga. Both experienced and unlikely to be daunted by the demands of the PL.
Please not Zenden!!
I dread the thought that Zenden will start tomorrow! I've never seen him be anything but below average for Liverpool and he isn't a serious winger.
Aurelio at left back, if he's fit, and Riise at left midfield to track back. His delivery is much better in the final third than Gonzales and Zenden.
We can't afford to carry anyone tomorrow night; so I hope Rafa makes the right choice for left midfield.
Klose looks v. good
Klose looks like a serious stiker to me alright. German players can handle English football and he has the instincts of a real goalscorer. He'd be a good signing for about 13 million.
Voronin will be a joke like Cheyrou and Diouf. I've seen him a bit and he's yet another mistake buy.
barca
i agree, i hope zenden doesn't start! if we are going to get some sort of result t/m we have to have our strongest team out and zenden wouldn't get in it. i've said before i would love to see us go with 3-5-2 against barca. reina, sami, carra and agger. alonso, stevie g and momo the 3 across the middle with riise and finnan as wing backs. up top kuyt and bellamy.
momo can protect the back 3, riise and finan can soon drop back to help out to but we don't want to see ourselves on the backfoot, barca will destroy us.
as for voronin it is a case of "who?". i agree, klose would be a better signing as would torres. i want liverpool to go out and sign a player(s) that will make every1 sit up and take notice!
£13million???
That's a bit steep. He's 28 or 29, I'd say knock about 4 or 5 million off that. I'd pay about £11m or £12m for Trezeguet, but he's a bit classier than Klose. £13m or £14m for Lucas Podolski would be good he's still developing and looks like a real star already.
Trezeguet is a better player
Trezeguet is a better player than Klose I agree, but he has played at the top level for a long time in Serie A and for France. I fear he would lack the hunger like Shevchenko to really be a success in the Premiership when he already has a big name and is about 28/29 as well.
Klose plays for Werder Bremen, a good team but not a prestigious club. He would have more desire to prove himself at a huge club in a better league than the Bundesliga.
Hunger and desire are vital because you see the likes of Shevchenko and without the real fire to prove himself in England his Serie A reputation means nothing on the pitch. Trezequet might be the same thing. Has he the hunger is the biggest question about him. He looks lazy for France.
not too sure
just have a bad gut feeling about Trezza!!! He's not exactly equipped for the viguors of the prem with his lack of pace and hasn't really got a killer strike!
would rather see the money spent on some youth!
Useless to discuss...
Its Useless to discuss who we'd like to see as strikers, coz we don't think like Rafa..the proof he already started taken shit players although he got lots of money..just because of voronin who is a "nobody" now for sure he will get rid of Fowler, and maybe will be playing Crouch and voronin against teams like ManU saying they can keep the ball pass it well etc...And post match comments will be: "you need to score first..you need to take the oportunity when given, we would not have lost if we had taken the opportunity"
Eto, Klose, Podolski, Trezeguet or even Bent are too good for Rafa's Scouting system, they just monitor workhorses, not Skillful killers strikers! Its a pity, but i already feel we'll be seeing uncompetent strikers playing alongside a great kuyt who scores few goals, but work so hard.
I fear you're right about
I fear you're right about Rafa's choice of player. Apart from Xabi Alonso I can't think of any Rafa signing who has the potential to be a real world class player.
Kuyt is very good but lacks the natural talent of a world class player and Sissoko will always be an effective midfielder but again lacks natural football technical talent.
Funnily enough, Mascherano might turn to out be world class as he was touted to be a great player while in Brazil.
But the worry is Benitez tends to go for mechanical players like Mourinho does and can't pick real world class talent like Wenger can, and Ferguson did with the likes of Cantona, Stam, Schmeichel, Keane - all world class players.
smell it in the air
jareel13 ... I was in stitches this morning but it's bloody true!! Veronin ?????? 6 goals in 20 starts isn't where we need to be looking as we've already got that type of striker! Nope I'd like to see Rafas scouting system really pluck and nurture some untapped talent that doesn't come from the Spanish 3rd division!! I mean if they are that much of a prospect I'm sure barca .. real .. etc .. would have snapped em up already?
I will be in disgust if Zenden starts 2nites game and will be convinced of a conspiracy. lets hope we go there to take the points and it should be a cracker ... no fear lads! worst way , Rafa will then understand who has the quality and who dosen't! Simple
Rafa makes odd choices
Come on tonight Pool! Go and beat them in the Nou Camp to show our true colours!!
On a lighter note, was watching the 2005 final last night to get me in the mood for tonight's match and STILL can't believe Rafa started Djimi Traore in that game. The lad made a total joke of himself for 1st hour like he has done most of his career. He isn't just a dodgy player; he has disaster written all over him.
AMAZINGLY, Rafa kept him another season and Traore had a lot to do with us getting whipped at Anfield by Chelsea 1-4 and losing to Benfica 0-2. He should have been long gone by then. These sort of plainly stupid decisions, which MIGHT continue with the likes of Zenden starting tonight against Barce, must end if we're to win a title.
9hrs to go
the presure is mounting and i can't wait for work to finish so that two european heavy weights can go at it! But hang on, How dose the new guy Arebloa start arguably the most important game of the season?? I haven't seen much of him (nothing actually) but I hope he's a jewel as surley we should have someone who is familar with the team playing there? I'm not gonna get all doom and gloom as it is a wonderful day plus I hope we see javier in some cpacity tonight! khyt will work hard tonight no doubt and if he gets the service chances are he'll take em. Loved barcas psychological tactics when the issued a statement saying they 'feared' crouchies impact on the game because of his ariel threat!! Rafa was having none of that and the tall guy is warming the benches. Wondering if bellamy might kick a ball tonight as in all honesty the selection looks like the players who behaved them selves at the training ground!
Tonight v's The Prem
True the anticipation is mounting. Mainly for the match but also with the usual dread of waiting to hear the Benitez team selection.
European nights with Liverpool Football Club will always be special but we should not ignore the fact that we are in a dog fight for 4th place "survival". A bad result tonight and the season is over - thanks Rafa. We could get a result tonight - that's football but does anyone seriously think we have the calibre to match Arsenal, Chelsea, and the Mancs over 38 games. Some of the games last night had periods of real class, pace, agility, speed of movement and physical commitment. Crouch, Pennant, Zenden - no where near Champions League reality. Watching videos of Istanbul are great for moral and what a night it was - but the Premiership is a million years away with Benitez in charge - remember that while you soak in the atmosphere of the Nou Camp. Whatever tonight's result we are nowhere near the standards set by Liverpool Football Club and never will be with Benitez. You never know he might play Harry Kewell - he's done it before !?!?!?!
Well aware
If anything I look forward to tonight because its make or break!! Yes the season has been very disappointing and the gulf between player standards of the 'top 4'are growing each season! Do I think Rafa is the man to lead us to previous glories... NO CHANCE!! But tonight he knows that it's all on the line... no hiding ... just the last 3yrs of his management on display and by god he better have found some managerial nous over at the Portugal training camp!
You see if Rafa cocks up his selection (zenden and crouch) and Barca really do one, I can't see how Rafa can survive. Since we dropped points at Newcastle I've always had at the back of my mind that we are now in a fight for 4th , which we may not win... and this may be harsh but sometimes you have to destroy to rebuild! The longer Rafa stays and uses his 'Spanish guide to the premiership 101' wining a cup here and beating a top team there we will never make any real progress. I'm excited cos Rafa has put himself in this position and I for 1 want to see how the guy is gonna get himself out of it! Call that mean but in this world if you run a business and don't perform you get called out! it's better he exposes himself now so G&H can have a good think about a change in the summer (guss hiddink anyone?)
MOMO
MOMO Carra and gerrard .... worked so flippin hard tonight.. I salute those guys!!! Bellamy was unselfish and always lively and we got the result!. Those players really had the spirit tonight... I'm still buzzing! Khuyt had a below average game as did alonso but finnan as always was dependable and his crosses always a threat. What can you say but bring this mentality and form to the prem and we should be alright. without getting carried away I have to look at alonso critically and the jury is still out.. is defensive midfielder his role? But full credit to the lads they showed grit and determination that was only fitting in a red shirt 2nite! We need that left winger and world class striker but apart from that good show lads. Have to mention momo cos I truly believe without him this wouldn't be possible ..the guy has no fear and truly feels privileged to wear the red shirt so kudos to my man... hope he has a speedy recovery!
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!
what a result tonite in the nou camp!!! ok, it's only half time in the tie but to go back to anfield with a 2-1 lead is beyond our wildest dreams. we have to be cautious tho, if any team can come back barca can.
momo was superb tonite, protected the back4 well, carra was outstanding to. well chuffed for bellamy and riise, it could have only been them hey! (loved the golf shot craig, should have been at the press box tho!)
haha
any news on momo yet?
The Nou Camp
Congratulations to one and all, including Benitez, for a remarkable display in the Nou Camp. It is only half time and Barca have the ability to rip any team to shreds at any ground. But someone tell me how can we play like we did last night and perform so badly at Sheff U, Blackburn, Everton, Newcastle, Middlesborough? Why don't we show that same grit and determination at Stamford Bridge, Emirates and Old Trafford? I fear another misty eyed trip to the CL Final could hide the flaws in the management & the squad for the Premiership. Our proud heritage as The Most Succesful British Club is rapidly being eroded particularly the number of League Titles. Show the determination, pride and skill that we clearly had last night week in week out and we are back where we belong - whats the problem ? Benitez needs to copy his obvious CL desire in the Premiership, The FA Cup and The Carling Cup. Despite the Nou Camp excellence - the number of away points dropped before the end of February needs to be addressed. Enjoy the moment - don't forget the season. Even if we go all the way and have another barmy night in May there is only one trophy that matters next season.
To answer your question if I may
The reason alas is we just aint nasty enough for the Premiership. If u watched last nights game as I did you will have noticed how many 'soft' free kicks there were. Stevie g only had to lift his foot off the ground or breath on a barca player and the ref blew up. It was the same for there players on the reds too. Alas in the premiership you are allowed to commit assault and battery, especially if your the home side, and the ref and commentators alike call it 50/50 get up get on with it.
Most of our players are from the continent and are used to getting free kicks when they are fouled, they are not used to getting beaten up on the pitch. Its like a totally different game over here and its this very reason that England struggle at major tournaments. We
are brought up with a different mentality to the continent. From an early age in schools and sunday league sides we are congratulated for slide tackling
and trying to main the opposition by the coaches but lambasted for
trying a piece of skill or technique that doesnt quite come off . I can here the usual taunts of 'well its a mans game yadayadayada' but ask yerself would you prefer to see Ronaldinho
or Luis Garcia score after excecuting with an outrageous piece of skill or see them brought down every time that get the ball. The premiership is exciting granted but a different game to the what the rest of the world is playing. We either accept that and write off the England team or get with the program.
wow
wow..what a performance...we deserved the win and now its time to show them why we are the best....walk on lads walk on.
can't stop smiling!
what a great day to be a red! haven't stopped smiling all day! i know, we're not thru yet but u can't help but marvel in the circumstances how we won last nite!
we have just got to make sure we give barca a traditional anfield welcome in 2wks and i'm sure we will. how many barca fans were in the new camp last nite? not a vocal bunch are they! they won't know what has hit them at anfield!!!!
result!
It could not have been a better result and i am still buzzing from it. for a time in the first half Momo sissoko was the only Liverpool player working for us on the pitch. The first half admitedly was a bit painful, slow paced and niether team were really playing the high standards of football we were all expecting. but the second half was briliant the team really pulled together! The lads will need to work twice as hard for the second leg in less than 2 weeks time, cause the Barca boys will firing on all cylinders!!
