THE BIG PUSH OR STEADY DEVLOPMENT?
There seem to be two ways for us to get out of this mess..
first..we spend real big...the BIG PUSH...get in four or five quality players in the transfer window and hope they fit in and give us immediate results..
The second, would be to buy a cpl of good players over the years (as in spread out the spending), and build a team around them wih home grown talent..
i think the first strategy is what chelski did when mourinho joined them..just went out there n bought whoever they wanted..
The second , is probably what ferguson had when he built the manure team in the early 90's..
The results..
chelski dominated for only a cpl of years and came back from where they were ..
while
manure dominated the whole decade..
what do u guys think?

Where's this home grown talent going to come from ?, Rafa Benitez has yet to produce one youngster through our system , and his been at the club nearly four years ?
I'm not saying there's no young talent at the club , just don;t expect Rada to nurture it or use it .
As for spening big , weve got no money , we can't even sign Mascherano a world class midfielder , so what chance have we got of buying four or five good players.
rafa shud try and sign a centrehalf and striker on loan in jan 08. then in the summer, sign the quality players that are needed to win the PL.
i wud sell crouch n momo this month and us that money to sign mash.
swap alonso for heinze, drenthe, robinho.
swap riise for miguel.
sign mancini, cb, striker in the summer.
out go kuyt, sami, kewell
Without question, it is clear that we need "out and out" wingers. We do not have players who have the ability to break down a "packed defense," beat defenders 1-on-1, and get timely, accurate crosses in the box. Babel is playing out of position, Benayoun is not a true winger, Pennant is agood crosser but not a well-balanced winger, and Kewell seems to be past it. Riise, Sissoko, and pssibly Alonso must go. Riise, Alonso, and Crouch could get us the most in transfer money. We need Dani Alves, Quaresma, Mancini, Bentley, etc. Rafa must stop signing players that he can move around. Torres will only be as good as his service.
Our set-piece tactics are deplorable! How many times have we given up points because of zonal marking? The perfect opponents' managerial strategy at home or at Anfield: Put 10 men behind the ball; counter when opportunity arises; look for one set-piece. Liverpool will make a mistake.
weve all been talkin abt who to buuy abd who to sell all year long...
what im askin here is what startegy shud rafa follow ...for long term consequences...shud he put his faith in the youth academy oor go out n buy players n make it a circus like chelski...id like to see more guys comin thru are system...they have more passion and determination than players comin from another country...have four or five international players..but for a team to be ruthless u gotto be passionate and almost obsessive abt ur team...
i dont think there is enuff passion , determination or confidence for that matter in the current set up...
thats what i mean..u buy a cpl of players every year..but quality players..not 4 0r 5 average players..
the team mite take time to show results..but when it will click we cud be headin for many successful years ahead...
