Attack pressures the opposition
I live in Australia and can only watch LFC via TV. The moment I see Carragher, Hypia etc passing sideways I KNOW we are in for a poor game! I am middle aged but even I could make these short back line passes! What does it achieve? - absolutely nothing as far as I can see and if someone on the site can tell me otherwise I would like to hear! In fact we give the opposition a chance to regroup, get their breath etc, etc. I know Shankley is long gone, but he would not have allowed this in his time. We kept coming forward in wave after wave to in effect smother, stifle and crush the opposition. That's why this club was great (and it really saddens me to have to use the word `was'). We are great still in many ways and we have have our Championship wins, Cups etc but we are now NOT the team we used to be. I, like many others, was prepared to accept Rafa's tactical knowledge and that bloody scourge, the rotation! But after that absolute shambles against Wigan I have changed my mind re. Rafa. Perhaps the LFC pressure cooker has got to him as it got to Dalgleish. We will not return to greatness under Rafa I am absolutely now sure of this.
george dont forget mate our main centre back is carra and agger together. agger is the one that looks to go forward in the mould of Hansen that you talk about. as of late carra has lost pace and sami never had any. we are playing with a make shift back line and players like arbeloa wont move out of the saftey zone when playing in a foreign position. when agger returns this will change. wouldnt say rafa cant be a success at anfield however the title is over this season. we have the players to play any style of football. strong defence usually and babel kewell gerrard torres finnan are all attacking players, with a R/S winger the team would be very balanced.
