Dont care about Carling Cup
I honestly hope we field a team of kids/reserves who are never going to make it into first team action against the Chavs(Chelsea for everyone else), we dont need to win this poor competition, it has no prestige, to win this is hardly an achievement.
Keep our players fresh for the Premiership, if we MUST chase a cup make it the FA or CL.
we have won this trophy a few times, and very recently, now all victorys are great and add more prestige to our club, and we should be trying to win everything BUT BUT BUT we have not won the PREM and that is the only thing, the only thing we should be concerned about. I dont care about anything else this season, lets show everyone we are ready to rule again, we have won europe, and two finals in 3yrs, so lets get on the PREM WAGON. I remember feeling amazed when we nearly won it few yrs ago, and arsenal pipped us to it, well now is our chance and nothing should stop us. if we should not be risking top players in any other compition, let babel sissoko arbeloa, voronin kuyt all play and maybe others, they will get games, keep fit and could sharpen their talents, whilst if we lose them it wont be like losing gerrard.torres,carra,agger,finnan,

i disagree with u 2. very cup is important and IF we didnt win the prem, we can at least get the carling cup. so, we have to beat chelsea. winning the carling cup can give our team a greater boost
Do you really think a carling cup victory would give us any satifaction for this season??
I said in my post its always good to challenge for everything, BUT this season is SPECIAL, its a chance just one chance we have had in recent years to really close this so called gap.
The other 3 were getting away, financially and successfully on the pitch, we have a new stadium and need to fill it, to do so we need to win the league, this is really the start of a decade of unrivaled success or more depression and what could/should of been.
The carling cup/fa cup can wait a year. We are not turing our backs on it like MANURE did few years ago, we are simply for once putting ourselves first. If we have a very successful season, 1st or 2nd and a semi final or final in europe, then we will be attracting more interest. We need to win and win big now. When we won the champs league all the kids of that generation became liverpool fans, thats future finance and revenue for lifetimes to come, but the longer the chelseas and manure and arsenals win the PREM the more we miss out on. It is that simple, so we should pull out everything becasue the price of failure is far out weighed by the glory and future we would have if we win the PREM
Though I'd like to add one thing. The success Benitez is looking on is to bring those youngsters off the reserves into the team cause first; it makes these kids more aware of the heritage, history, and more importantly of how the team performaes which would save him bringing in other staff members who should do that eventually. Second; WAAY CHEAPER than bringing in someone who might not be attached to the club and might cause us something which Loyalty hardly buys. And finally; winning against Chelsea on Dec 19th would give those youngsters this season another chance to appear for the Reds, it's not like they won't get a chance, but this one is more guaranteed than in the Prem, Europe or the FA Cup !!
Other than that, I totally agree with you, we MUST take our chance this season and shut ppl up and make sure we come back with a bang. Roll on the good days!
The Carling Cup should not be a priority at all. I honestly don't give a toss if we get knocked out (after beating Chelsea). Of course i want to see us win stuff, but, the league cup has lost its prestige years ago, and what if a major player gets injured in one of these games?
