WHY DO WE STRUGGLE TO KILL TEAMS OFF ?
WHY ARE WE STRUGGLING TO KILL TEAMS OFF ? IS IT A LACK OF QUALITY WING PLAY, BAD FINAL PASS, NON SCORING MIDFIELDERS, OR JUST BAD FINISHING. WE SHOULD WIN A NUMBER OF GAMES FAR MORE EASILY THAN WE DO.

As a Canadian fan, I tend to see things through a hockey analogy. In hockey, you need a good mix. You need some European flair and some Canadian grit and heart. I find it the same in the Premiership. You have to have some Spanish or Italian flair, but you have to have a healthy dose of English, Irish or Scottish grit and heart. I'm not sure Liverpool has enough. Gerrard and Finnan, for sure, but perhaps a little more is needed. I see the British players as being the unbreakable backbone of a team, while the other European players bring in some movement, flair and creativity. Many of you know far more than I. Am I right, or completely wrong? I'd be interested in your response.
in relation to your reply, we do have a decent blend of british/irish players, we have carra , finnan, stevie G, crouch, and pennant, and couple more on the fringes, but with the exception of pennant the rest seem to love a fight. we also got xabi alonso who is no shirek and loves a battle and masch who is tough and on an on and on, but i believe in the past and under other managers we have had this problem, i put it down to the managers tactics, once we go 1 or 2 up we shut up shop and play a chess game thinking better to win 1 nil than risk pushing on, well despite what us reds say that has been our style now for a good many yrs, we go on about it not bein the liverpool way but when was the last manager to set us up for free flowing football, hmmmm yrs and yrs ago dalglish/paisley/shanks, so we will have to see if the new signings and ones from last yr settle in and the manager has more faith in letting them push on, but look at last champions league with ac milan, they were there for the taking and we backed off, i wouldnt dream of knocking rafa and trust his judgement and transfer attitude but sometimes his decisions frustrate me
When Liverpool score they seem to switch off,we often hang onto a 1 goal lead for 30-40 mins then bang!,a shock goal from the opposition and we get hit with a reality check and try to push for a late goal, the villa game was an example. We had numerous opportunites to put the game to bed but we didnt.Babel missed what should have been a bread and butter finish from inside the box,Not long after the miss Barry was celebrating his equaliser and panic set in.Had it not been for Gerrards wonder free kick a draw was looking very likely. We dont kill games off partially because of our tendancy to switch off but also a combination of bad finishing and a massive dependancy on Stevie to pull a goal out of the bag
